I am Worth It!
Throughout my entire life I have been overweight and tried so many different ways to lose weight. I had tried Weight Watchers, low fat, low carb, Medifast, Diet Center, cutting out sugar, etc and nothing seemed to work. With every new "diet" I was miserable. I was always hungry, always in pain, and always struggled to lose weight and keep it off. I struggled with cravings, emotional eating, and bingeing. Life was becoming dreary. In 2016 I got to the point where it was uncomfortable to walk, to put on my shoes, and to sit in my car. I was terrified about travelling back home to see family because I would have to sit in an airplane seat. I cried a lot because of the pain I was in and I couldn't see an end in sight. I was worried about what my future would look like. Would I develop diabetes? High blood pressure? Would I become house bound?
On December 26, 2016 I decided I had had enough. A few months before that date I had begun to read about the ketogenic lifestyle. On that day I decided to start keto (despite having dozens upon dozens of cookies from Christmas in the house). I cut out all pastas, breads, potatoes, rice, fruit, sweets and high carb veggies. I drank a ton more water and started taking vitamins.
I had finally developed the mind set that I needed in order to change my life. I realized it was my job to fix my health problems. It was my job to create the type of life that I wanted.
Since starting this new lifestyle (and starting keto) I have much less pain in my body. My mood has changed drastically from depressed and pessimistic to optimistic and happy. I enjoy getting up in the morning and starting the day. I have become more assertive and strong minded and I try my best to help others. I have way less swelling in my body and it doesn't hurt to move anymore. I have much more energy now and overall life has become a lot better. Each day now I see more and more non scale victories (as well as scale victories!)
When I look to the future I can see an end to my weight loss. I can see reaching my goal now, when before I never could. I can see the "healthy me" standing at the end. I can see continuing keto for life because of all the positive changes it has given me.
Before I started my goal was to "shop in a normal store and wear normal clothes." Now, my goal is to "become healthy and happy." And I am well on my way!

My Goals:
Get healthy
Start running (yikes!)
Develop my own keto recipes (including desserts)
Be able to shop in a non plus size store
Feel better physically
Be in ONEderland
Have more stamina
DONE: Not feeling uncomfortable sitting in small seats
DONE: Reduce swelling in my body
DONE: Lessen my knee pain
My Program:
I am currently eating 1200-1400 calories per day. I also try to have one veggie per meal (even breakfast if I eat it). I have cut out as much sugar as I can.
I am now also keeping track of my macros and calories after I hit a plateau.
Right now I am rowing and swimming with some walking thrown in. I am hoping to do something like kettlebells or hand weights as well as cardio like Walk Away the Pounds for a while until I can work up to something more higher impact. I also throw in a little yoga sometimes.
Personal Information:
My name is Sandy and I currently live in central east Michigan. I currently work in a high school teaching (and mentoring) students. I enjoy reading, baking and cooking, gardening, making wreaths, drawing, creating recipes, glazing and painting ceramics, creating beauty products like sugar scrubs and lotions and I am currently trying to get into making other beauty products as well as wax melts and candles. I live with my husband (married August 9, 2019) and our cat Sophie. We hope to adopt another kitten soon!

Life is short, live it.
Love is rare, grab it.
Anger is bad, dump it.
Fear is awful, face it.
Memories are sweet, cherish them.
One of the best gifts you can give someone is thanking them for being part of your life.
Thank you for a great BLC 42 experience.
