´*~-,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸-~*~Happy New Year~*~-,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸-~*´

This is my 2011 Bucket List:

1. Succeed in Student Teaching: Stay Organized: Complete all lesson plans at least 1 week in advance and prepare all materials for lessons at least 1 week in advance. Learn: Study Autism and ADHD and create a case file with strategies I learn this semester on how to modify and adapt lessons for these students. Reflect on all lesson plans the same day I teach the lesson. Stay Positive: write down something funny, adorable, interesting, learned; take SOMETHING positive from every single day I student teach, even and ESPECIALLY the days where nothing seems to go right.

2. Learn: Spanish: Listen to my new Spanish Language Course in my car during my 35 minute drive to and from school each day.

3. Graduate: Successfully complete my BS in Elementary Education on May 7, 2011.

4. Start My Career: Get Hired: Complete my licensure application, collect transcripts and all documents, and mail in by February 1st. Visit schools during my fall break. Meet principals. Get at least 1 interview by April. Prepare for all interviews by researching school district, curriculum, interview strategies, etc. Call back after interviews. Secure a job offer by mid-July.

5. Move: Actively search for a great house in a safe neighborhood. Don't settle for less and don't overreach for more than we need.

6. Finally Get a Pet: After we get a house, ADOPT 2 dogs from the Humane Society, ASPCA, or another animal shelter.

7. Take Care of Myself: Workout 3-5x every week, follow a healthy diet, take vitamins and supplements to keep my immune system strong during student teaching and my first year of teaching.

8. Take Care of My Marriage: Have a "Date Night" once a week. Be a better listener. Be more patient. Don't dwell on the little things. Compromise more. Be more positive. Complain less.

9. Save $: Spend $ on only groceries and gas until I get a job.

10. Volunteer: Possibly as a tutor/mentor at the local boys & girls club.

11. Start a Family??? After I somehow actually manage to accomplish everything else on this list, I hope to think about maybe having kids before I get too old LOL.

Personal Information:
I am a 26 year old college student, beginning my last semester of my bachelor's degree, during which I will be student teaching in first grade. I want to be a positive role model for my students and live the healthy lifestyle and follow the healthy habits I hope to instill in them. I want to be a more positive person in all aspects of m life and enjoy the fact that I soon will begin my career, where I will get paid to do something I absolutely love and look forward to getting up for each day. I also want to make time for myself and my marriage outside of school. I want to start a family in the near future, and I want to be healthy before doing so. This is MY year!

Other Information:
"Education is the great engine of personal development. It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that a son of a mineworker can become the head of the mine, that a child of farm workers can become the president of a great nation. It is what we make out of what we have, not what we are given, that separates one person from another." - Nelson Mandela
