"Would to God that we might spend a single day really well!"
----Thomas a Kempis

For me, fitness is a spiritual issue. The Apostle Paul tells me that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. In the Old Testament of the Bible, God gave specific instructions to Solomon as to how he should build the temple in Jerusalem so He could make it His dwelling place. Since my body is called the "temple" of the Holy Spirit in the New Testament, I believe I should keep it in the best shape I can since it is His dwelling place. When I think of a person of the Godhead living "in" me, I want to take care of myself. After all, I may be the only gospel some people see.

Another twist that reinforced the idea I have of weight control as a spiritual issue, came when my husband said to me, "Did you ever think that when you consume more calories than you need in a world where there are so many hungry people, that you are robbing from the poor?"
