It is worth it & still at goal. WooHoo
Hi: I'm Irene and I started my journey on the 12th of February , 2007 and reached my goal weight the 15th of November 2007.
My missionary work calls for some traveling and I actually lost weight on a 4 week trip. We can do it.
I live on the Mexican border after living in the country of Mexico for 20 years and have worked with the Mexican people since 1962
Plan to keep the weight off as I gave away all my big clothes. My reward for reaching goal was new clothes.
P.S. ...

I live on the Mexican border after living in the country of Mexico for 20 years and have worked with the Mexican people since 1962
Plan to keep the weight off as I gave away all my big clothes. My reward for reaching goal was new clothes.
P.S. Did gain about 10 pounds back although lost some inches and my bmi improved after I started exercising. Now need to lose the pounds I gained. I have begun losing it now. I can't let it creep up on me little by little.
UPDATE On the 9th of September of 2010 I hit my goal weight.
Now I plan to keep it off and go a little lower.
I am so happy to be back down there and each time you gain I understand your body makes more fat cells and it is harder to lose the pounds you gained.
YOU CAN DO IT TOO.
It has been possible to maintain my goal weight or under since then which is a little over a year now.
Well, this is April of 2012 and I have still been below my goal weight.
It is not so easy to maintain since I retain fluid but not impossible.
I'm doing it again without exercise since I hurt my knees at the gym.
As you know in 2013 I had 2 knee replacements.
WE CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS US.
Recently I started a streak along with the four teams I am a leader on. I had gone w/o sweets for almost 300 days before I went to rehab for my knees and their diet had a lot of sweets in it. When I got out I kept eating sweets and when I eat them I cannot stop.
So I decided I had to do something about it and this on May the 18th of 2014 I started a streak of not eating sweets .
Several have joined me in a streak. They choose something they battle with and see how many days they can go.
Several days ago I lost down to 143 and the doctors are happy.

My Goals:
Maintain my goal weight.
Be sure and drink my water and eat my veggies (which I do).
Encourage others as much as I can.
Keep a smile on my face and know God will help me do what I can't when I have done all I can. My diet has changed because of illness and I am trying to keep it as much as I can. DIFFERENT NOW
Since I am in an assisted living facility things are different food wise and most everything else wise but was to dangerous to go home.
My Program:
I have reached my goal. I watched my portions, chose nutritional food, pushed my plate away when full if at a buffet and asked for a carry out at other restaurants. I eat out at least once a day and you can do it.
Personal Information:
For over 50 years I have been a foreign missionary after ministering in the US for a few years.
Recently I had knee replacement. (March 8, 2013)
Now I am getting ready for the next knee replacement.
In October of 2013 I had my second knee replaced. It is taking longer for me to get over that one
Then in 2014 I fell and broke a vertebrae in my back and then they found out I had high ammonia levels which is hard to deal with. They also said I had a small heart attack which they are treating with medication.
Praying and trusting the Lord. I fell again and really hurt my back bad this time. I suffer much with it and also the one knee that didn't heal right.
Other Information:
Track your calories
If you bit it write it
If you snack it track it
If you nibble it scribble
If you hog it log it
Grab your pencil before your utensil.

Ask yourself: IS IT WORTH IT?
* Is it an occasion?
* How often do you eat this food? Can you get it any time?
* Does it look delicious and amazing?
* Do you have the calories to "spend" on it?
* Can you control how much of it you eat?

It's been a very long time since I've been on Spark People and I see that dear Irene is with the Lord. She was an inspiration to me when I was on here, just sorry that I hadn't kept in touch, but I know she's happy in heaven!
