Which hurricane? the one from last year? YES... it came thru our area and there was some wind damage & tons of rain. Nothing horrible but it was amazing how we got such a pounding and yet we live so far away from the Gulf Coast & the Texas coast that got the brunt of it's fury.

Living where you do - - you guys get pounded from the Southern storms coming upwards AND the Northern storms coming downward on you.
Are you sure you want to be living where you do?
    emoticon .... just joking.

    Have a fun weekend.

I noticed in teh daily spark you talked about Volksmarching. I lived in Germany for a few years and really miss doing that. I met so many people, had a blast with my man and our dog and for some reason no matter how long eth walk was it never seemed like a challange :)

DEEEBEE - - I love your Daffy Duck profile pic. It's ADORABLE !!!!

I live South of you in Central Arkansas, I'm 55 & have about 120 or so pounds to (miraculously) loose! Good luck with your SparkPeople weight loss program.

    Hi Deebee,

I love, love, love TJ's! great store and pretty good prices. I am happy to help, I really identified with your post, because I was so so hungry when trying to cut calories and I've found tricks that really help. I am not good with being hungry and really struggle with going to bed hungry, I just can't do it and then end up overeating AT NIGHT! SO FRUSTRATING. I actually bought the brussel sprouts at TJ's and made them per the recipe on Food network. Give the fiber and the oil a try - for me the only thing that has helped me stay within 1500 calories a day. emoticon

I just read your comment about keeping around 1550 calories, which has helped you lose weight, but can be hard to do. I completely understand and want to share some tips that have really helped me stick to the calorie count, and the secret for me has been to really up the fiber, try my best to minimize processed food and do allow myself some oils, especially if I have a low protein meal. Also, I find instant oatmeal does not hold me as well as slow cooking - I love the flavor and texture of Silver Palate Oatmeal and have it often for breakfast with blueberries. I also love roasted brussel sprouts (Ina Garten's recipe, just use a bit less oil) - really delicious and filling. The last secret is pearled barley - have this a lot for dinner with a veggie rich chicken fricasee recipe I make. Lastly, berries are key - feels like dessert and really fiber rich. Also, I've cut out all fake sugars - honestly, for some reason, my body responds really well to this - I seem to lose weight much more easily. I hope this helps you. Good luck!
