Update! 3/20/21. Spring 2021! The last year was rough. I gained some over the winter. Over all I am down 40 pounds over what I was when I first found Spark People in March of 2017. But I was down 60 last year! So time to buckle down and get back to what I know works! I really thought I would be to my goal by now, its a work in progress! I can and will do it! Update January 8th 2020...... finally busted through a 4 months long plateau!!! Can say i am now down 60 pounds. I have been on the Noom diet for 13 and a hslf months its not always easy, but it goes along well with the Spark People philosophy! I couldn't be any happier! I will be 68 on February 24th. Maybe i will be under 225# last time i was that low was 1991 on my wedding day!! I am 67 years old, have had problems with my weight all of my life. I just want to lose weight and be healthy. Am now retired and finding it hard to stay on track.3/18/2017. Now 12/1/2019 i have lost 53 pounds on the noom diet program in 1 year.. But have stalled . So here i am trying to get it working again. I still have around 50 pounds to lose!! I have decided to try and tell my story. Its a long one. I was fat from age 12 on. Lost wieght my senior year of high school. Got married had 4 kids. Gained 100# with first child. Divorced abusive hubby when baby was 9 months. Decided to go college! 4 kids so 3/4 time a few January and summer classes. 5 years later. A degree in social change and development! Bachelor of arts degree! Women's studies minor and also minor in social science statistics. What can you do with that? Turns out not alot. Unless i was willing to move my kids and i to a different state. ( not happening) all my family is here! In 2nd year of college i was tipping my scale at 329#. That was 1982. I decided on trying the new thing then. I had my stomach stapled. Life saving in 18 months i dropped to 167# happy me dancing swimming doing all the things i couldn't before. My kids and i camped did lots of active things. Bowling etc etc. Literally feel into a job working for the United states postal service subbing on a rural mail route! 1986. 179# 1989 October. Met the love of my life. My future soulmate. Weight 185# I had 4 kids he had 3. The 3 youngest of mine were same age as his. We would go dancing alot. Most dates we would go and eat. Huge wedding 1991 all the kids we involved. We had a blast. On my wedding day i was back to 228# He loves me anyway. For the next 25 years i slowly gained a few here a few there! Medical issues started to creep in. Alot of them because of my stomach stapling!! I am terrified of going over 300# again. Arthritis had hip replacement 2000 wieght 238# heart attach 2002. Wieght 249# summer of 2014 280# heard about SP lost 34.5 pounds almost but not under 250# 9/28/2014 a date i will always remember, took the antibiotic cipro for a bladder infection. I had a very bad reaction to it. It nearly killed me. Couldn't walk for 2 months couldn't work for 3 months went back and worked Christmas rush. Then had surgery on hands and elbows. Side effect of cipro reactive arthritis! So my carpel tunnel had to be fixed. All the medications and lack of exercise back to 285#. Tons of therapy only working 4 days a week 2 days on 1 day off 2 days on. Theraphy in the pool on days off. Late summer 2015. Finally better strength still working only 4 days most weeks. Christmas rush was extremely busy 2015. Bad knee really started to bother me. Thought about retirement. January 2016. Dr says need new knee. Gave me an injection good to go. I can handle this! I will work 1 more year till 65th Birthday. 3 months later another injection. This one didnt work. Need 3 or 4 months off. Heck with it i am going to retire. Tell boss end of April. I work in small office short of sub mail carriers i became full time in 1992. He wants me to wait until end of September. To get through summer vacation season. Pain was awful was hardly more than just there to do my job and just go home. The post master did everything he could to help me make it to October 1. He helped load and unload my jeep he even would take really big packages and deliver them with his car. Another carrier had her sons wedding on September 16 no subs i worked that was my last day. Retirement 9/17/2016. Knee replacement 11/03/2016. Wieght 285# long recovery time still using walker. Full mobility of knee just not much strength. Lots of PT for the knee. February 2017 Dr unhappy i am to weak, still using walker, depressed, unable to sleep, hardly getting out of bed wieght 289.5#. Ordered me back i to pool therapy. Can't take antidepressants. To many side effects. After cipro I am very wary off drugs! March 1 into pool again. Feeling better. 3/15/2017 a friend wants to lose 30#. After alot of talking back and forth i started a Facebook group. Amazingly a bunch of friends and family want to get healthier and lose weight. I wanted to track my food. Then i remembered Spark People that little app thats been on my phone for years. I am not sure what is different this time. I started back 10 days ago. I just want to get healthy again to be able to dance again! And hopefully lose weight! Maybe its because I am retired and have time to really concentrate on me! For the first time in a long time. In last 10 days! I have exercised a little every day. Chair strength exercises. 45 min in pool 3 days. Tracked everything sleeping somwhat better. Oh and down 4# to 285.5# Like i said this was a long story. I had to put it down somewhere!! Not sure what is different this time. Retirement, my Facebook group, Spark People, or maybe its just finally time for me to worry about me! I just know that this time i am going to do it!!! Its 12/1/2019 i gained back the 35 i lost in 2017. So i started noom on November 26th of 2018 an have lost 53 in 1 year but have been stalled! I am trying alot of things to get it moving again! We will see!!
