My name is Deb, welcome to my Sparks Page. I am a 66 year old female. I am having a very difficult time loosing weight, in large part because of medical issues.
Up until May 17, 2011 I had a constant, loving companion named BooBoo (a white toy poodle). When I had to have him euthanized mostly because of old age, he was 17 . Saturday, Oct.22, I adopted a young, male, Siamese cat whom I named Me Ling, AKA LingLing. from the local shelter. Now, in Dec. 2013 I can report that he brings many smiles, much laughter & a lot of love.

People on SP have been so very supportive!

You''ve used every excuse in the book to everybody else and to yourself. You know you need to lose weight, but reasons not to keep getting in the way. Don''t worry, you''re not the first to face excuses.

On a positive note, making excuses for not losing weight means you recognize that weight loss takes a certain amount of commitment, and that''s your first step.

Look at what''s holding you back. If it''s one of the following classic excuses, then take a look at some of our tips for turning those "can''ts" into "cans."

"I can''t lose weight because I could never give up my favorite foods."
Did you know that on the Flex Plan you can eat any food you want? Yes, that includes your favorite restaurant foods. The key is fitting them into your POINTS Allowance.

Eating single-serving or bite-size portions of your favorite foods can cut calories nearly in half. A Milky Way has around 270 calories (POINTS value of 6). Five Milky Way Lite Miniatures have about 150 (POINTS value of 3).

You can also eat your favorite foods even if it''s a high-calorie food. Just less often. Try twice a month instead of every week.

"I can''t lose weight because I have to keep junk food in my house for my husband and kids."
Instead of "bringing the mountain to Mohammed, bring Mohammed to the mountain." You can eliminate the junk food from your home and make a date with your family for a weekly "junk food" night out.

You can replace the higher-calorie foods with lower-calorie versions, such as diet soda instead of regular and light ice cream instead of premium.

You can buy single-serving sizes of your family''s favorites, instead of multiple-serving sizes.

"I can''t lose weight because I won''t keep it off."
"If you think you can''t, you won''t. If you think you can, you will."

You can write down the reasons you want to lose weight and keep them around for long-term inspiration. But make sure "I''m going to lose weight for me is at the top of the list."

You can break down your weight-loss goals into small steps and give yourself nonfood rewards for each step accomplished.

"I can''t lose weight because my family and friends make fun of me every time I try."
You can dump the friends that are not really there for you.

Find a "buddy," at work, at a Weight Watchers meeting, or on the Message Boards you can talk to. Research has shown that losing weight with friends leads to better weight-loss results.

"I can''t lose weight because I hate to exercise."
You can change your way of thinking about exercise. Experts tell us that everyday activities such as laundry and vacuuming count just put more effort into them. Or go for a walk. Working out doesn''t have to mean 30 minutes on a treadmill at a gym.

You can reduce sitting time. Try to spend less time in front of the computer, the TV and in your car.

You can look for opportunities to be more active. If you have stairs, make excuses to climb them. Hide the remote, or walk to your coworker''s office instead of calling or e-mailing.

10 little weight watchers joining in a line,
one hated vegetables, then there were nine

9 little weight watchers say, "This is great."
One said I don''t have time to exercise,"
then there were eight

8 little weight watchers say, "This is heaven."
One had a birthday, then there were seven

7 little weight watchers, getting thin for kicks.
One said, "Programs and fun just don''t mix,"
then there were six

6 little weight watchers, see how they thrive.
One said, "Just once won''t hurt,"
then there were five

5 little weight watchers beating at a door.
One weighed and left each week,
then there were four

4 little weight watchers from fat getting free.
One heard, "Dear you''re getting too thin,"
then there were three

3 little weight watchers see how they do.
One went on vacation, then there were two

2 little weight watchers, life has just begun.
One got off the program, then there was one

1 little weight watcher standing all alone,
the body''s gotten little, how the pride has grown

1 little weight watcher,
at goal she (he) looks divine

We, each one of us, can be that one
and not the other nine!!!

My Goals:
My very long range goal is to reach 150 & stay there. but, for now, My short term goal is to loose one pound per week. doing W8 Watchers @ home.

My Program:
My program is the WW Flex points system. I have tried other so called "diets" but this the only one that works for me. A few years ago I lost 50 # on WW, then strayed. But now I'm back FOR LIFE! In 2013, I will loose the weight.

Personal Information:
My goals for this year include;
1) Getting up no later than 8 AM 7 days a week.
2) Getting to bed no later than 11 P. M.
3) Journaling every single thing I put in my mouth, no matter how insigniffigent I think it to be.
4) Drinking @ least 48 oz of water daily.
5) Doing some form of exercise 7 days a week.
6) To either loose or maintain every week.
7) To realize that this is a process.
8) To avoid tempting persons & places @ all cost.

Other Information:
My fav. quote is "To thine own self be true"
I also like to say an old WW motto - "Nothing tastes as good as thin feels." It's so motivational. Especially when faced with foods I love, like chocolate.
