Hi, my name's Kate and I'm a 25 yr old from Toronto, Canada.

I just happened upon this site and am excited by how motivating it is, especially in terms of how it focuses on healthy living as a lifestyle and not just on weightloss.

I never really "struggled" with my weight in the sense that I was oblivious to it. I have always been a big exerciser but I used to think that if I worked out I could eat ANYTHING (and everything) I wanted! Whoops! I didn't realize I was over weight until I traveled and came home to everyone complimenting me on how much weight I had lost. Though I wasn't actually flattered at all by people's comments (the thought is: "what, was I a blimp??!"), I started to look at old pictures (like the ones on here), noticed the change in pant sizes, and began to see the difference. I'm much more confident and happier in my current body and I know I'll be even more confident as I tone up further.

What I've learned is how important diet is - diet is 80% of the battle! And I'm still practicing eating only to nourish my body and NOT for entertainment.

This site looks great so far. I look forward to staying on for a while, not just with the intention of losing weight, but to meet inspirational people, help others, and to keep motivated to make conscious eating decisions and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Enjoy your body!

My Goals:
To be: strong, healthy, proud, comfortable in this skin, powerful, courageous, and an athlete. But also to be good to my body and soul every day; to make choices that fit into a daily, contented lifestyle.

Tangible upcoming goals:
- continue to kick box 3-5x/week and become an Assistant Instructor in June/July

- compete in a fight by the end of August

- complete the Personal Trainer certification by April 15 and begin working as a trainer

- become a certified Fitness Instructor by end of April

- teach weekly aerobics/boot camp classes throughout the summer

My Program:
- kick box 4x/week
- 2-3x week @ gym: new aerobics classes, spinning bike, weight training.
- yoga 1x/week
- jog 3-ish days/week

- practically no sugar
- practically no flour
- low beer/booze
- keep under 1800 calories/day; except for 1 or 2 indulgent meals or snacks a week.

Personal Information:
I'm 5'9 (and am always curious what others' heights are on this... 150lbs means very different things for someone 5' tall and someone 6').

Other Information:
My favourite running training book: "4 Months to a 4-Hour Marathon" - Dave Kuehls

    Hi Kate

Thanks for your comments on my blog! It is good to get feedback. I also think that I might be on the right path this time, being able to view myself from above and all my bad habits and patterns. I have consulted a psychologist for the last year to work on this, and it is paying of. A prerequisite for success I think

I hope to be able to run a 5k in spring, so that I can make my father proud before he dies (of course I don't know if he will make spring, but let's keep positive) I'll run and he'll see!
    Love from Holland
