I am an art freak (writer/performer/director/video maker/conceptual artisti) and jill of all trades (I pay the bills with all sorts of work from teaching art/theater/performance to data entry to nonprofit stuff).

I used Sparkpeople as part of a major push in 2011 to get fit and lose some weight as well as deal with some health problems. In 2012, as I bring other goals to the forefront, I have cut back time online. I used the trackers intensely for over five months, and they were very helpful. I recommend using them daily when folks first get started.

Now I don't use the trackers very often. I put in plenty of fitness minutes even if I'm not posting them here. I remain mindful of my eating and make choices based on the wealth of information I gathered by paying close attention to my eating for so many months. I am grateful for what Sparkpeople made available to me. But I have to be very careful about things that play to my compulsive tendencies. I am cultivating habits and systems that mean I eat well even if I don't have access to online tools.

Current short term goals:
Lose between 5 to 15 pounds, if my body wants to lose more weight. Since I actually am pretty happy at the weight and size that I am at, I am turning my focus away from numbers on the scale. Instead I am revamping/intensifying my commitment to strength training, cultivating a daily yoga practice and improving my running.

Fitness Minutes: 12,685

My Goals:
Lose 5 to 15 pounds more, if my body wants to. I will not be brokenhearted if I stay at the weight I've reached.

Cultivate a daily yoga practice.

Revamp/increase strength training.

Build my base for running.

Continue to find lots of way to stay moving during the day.


My Program:
At least 30 minutes of cardio most days.

Running three to four days a week.

3 days of ST a week.

Biking, as much as possible, for trips under 4 miles (round trip). Once a month long (20 plus miles) ride.

Long form yoga 1 to 2 times a month. Cultivating a daily yoga practice.

Socialize by replacing some of the sitting at cafes with going for walks or bike rides.



Personal Information:
I live in North Central Florida in what gets called The Swamp by football fans (I am not a football fan, but I like moniker The Swamp).


Other Information:
A short list of some of the things I love: libraries, cats, fountain pens, black and white composition notebooks, books, my bike, cooking soup and my family.
