Hi! I finally reached my goal of 140 lbs. within two years of my all-time highest weight of 217 lbs. on February 29th, 2008. (Sure didn't maintain it for long, though!) Anyway, I regained 43 lbs. of my 77 lb. loss over the following few years & have lost and regained many of those over the next TEN years (or so). I weighed in at 182 lbs. on October 14, 2019. ENOUGH of the "yo-yoing" already! I REALLY plan to make it to a healthy goal this time (& STAY there)! I hereby fully commit to weighing 142 or below (a "healthy weight" within "normal" BMI range at or below 142 lbs. at 5 feet-3.5 inches, BMI 24.8) by the first day of June, 2020. I dedicate myself to attaining these goals and to enjoy the entire process as much as I can. WELCOME and BEST WISHES!

My Goals:
I am BACK from my "break" which did me no favors - now it's "Crunch Time"! My short term goal is to weigh 142 or less by June 1st, 2020, at which time my BMI would be ~24.8 (Within so-called "normal" range). Let's DO this! :)


My Program:
I am aiming for lower carbs, lower salt, lower sugar, NO alcohol, higher fiber, higher protein and higher nutrients. LOTS of vegetables, limited fruits, up to 1/2 cup legumes, up to 1 cup gluten-free whole grains per day. Minimum 8 glasses of water daily. Limit caffeine equivalent to 3 cups coffee daily. Drink at least 1 cup of green tea per day. No refined/processed wheat or bread; no pastries, sweet baked goods or white potatoes. Phase out artificial sweeteners. Starting...NOW!



Personal Information:
My name is Carole Koudsi and I turned 61 years old on August 18, 2019. I was born in Jacksonville, NC, but grew up in Cambridge, MA. I live in Metro Boston and I work in the financial district of Boston (Downtown Crossing, across from Macy's). I have lived in many states, but have only been outside the USA once (Montreal, Canada). I will share my email with people who would like to keep regular contact and "share the journey". I have been divorced since 1988 and am living with my 14 year old cat, Mimichou. I have one son who lives in the same city as me and who turned 35 on Thanksgiving, 11/22/18. I live and work in the Boston, MA area.


Other Information:
My favorite hobbies are: belly dancing, international folk dancing and singing, karaoke, making jewelry and walking outside (not necessarily in any order). I am also starting to do yoga and hula hooping again, which I enjoy very much. I love all kinds of music. I also enjoy nature (and all that!). Some of my favorite sayings are: "Be Your Own Best Friend"; Don''t Sweat the Small Stuff" and "Get Out of Your Own Way". (My favorite excuse is "It was like that when I got here", but I can't use that for my obesity issue!)

    I love tomato soup--I have many bags of tomatoes in the freezer from our summer garden. I pick up some fresh so I can roast them and then use a bag of the frozen (more fresh or canned works too. I blogged the recipe a few weeks ago. For dinner tonight I am making some no carb rolls for grilled cheese to go with the soup.

    I don't miss the bread or pasta; rice I miss a little, but I have found out of sight out of mind works for me. The hardest part for me was my sugar addiction. I still have some WW friendly foods hanging around--mostly super lean meats left. I gave most of my condiments with sugar to my DiL along with specialty flours I had.

    I am finding my niche and balance and am hopeful that I can enjoy Thanksgiving foods and then get right back on plan. More than anything else--I think getting back on plan is the key for me.

    Thanks for popping back into Breaking the Obesity Code group--I have missed you. I have my Dr appt this Wednesday & will get my lab result---I am wondering mostly if my cholesterol went up since LCHF and just how low my blood sugar level is.

    I'll probably blog the results. What have you been up to?
