Well, hello there!

I'm here to improve my health and well-being through weight loss and other positive changes. I am 50 and I must make a change. I have 160+ pounds to go. Fitness-wise I am interested in walking, yoga, weights and maybe tai chi.

I'm not afraid to laugh at myself and I strive every day to make at least one person laugh or smile. I try to look for the good in situations and work to keep a positive attitude. I make it a point to spend time with people who bring me joy and support me.

Finding peace within provides much of my basis for life choices. I make a great effort to be present in this moment. I believe in the power of prayer and meditation.

Antiquing, thrift stores, yard sales, the Great Depression, cross-stitch, planners, snail mail, scrap booking, nature, country life, homesteading, Irish things, older people, oral history, baking, organic gardening, Impressionist art and saving money.

Favorite authors:
James Lee Burke, Patricia Cornwell, Joel Osteen, Norman Vincent Peale, Thich Nhat Hanh, Laura Ingalls Wilder, LaVyrle Spencer, Dick Proenneke, Anne Labastille, Zig Ziglar; Diana Gabaldon, Louisa May Alcott; also The Foxfire book series.

I love music and like a bit of everything:
Moby; Fatboy Slim; Jim Reeves; Hezekiah Walker: George Jones; Led Zeppelin; Lynyrd Skynyrd; Richard Vission; Frank Sinatra; Kenny Chesney; Miranda Lambert; Johann Sebastian Bach; Bob Seger; Billie Holliday; Steven Curtis Chapman; Carl Orff"s Carmina Burana O Fortuna; The Doors; Bob Dylan; Hank Williams, Sr.; Aretha Franklin; Reba McEntire; Kirk Franklin and God's Property; Kirk Franklin and the Family; Mahalia Jackson and more.

My cat Stone and dog Joy contribute so much to my happiness. They are great companions.

My new dog Joy is a learning experience! I've never had a dog before. She came to me the end of April when her mommy passed away. She's a Chihuahua-Jack Russell Terrier as best we can figure.

Personal Information:
In 2005 I was diagnosed with relapsing-remitting MS. It has made for a wild ride sometimes. I have learned not to take things in life for granted! I also deal with severe fatigue, fibromyalgia, diabetes, PTSD and depression.

Other Information:
Some quotes I love:

“The real things haven't changed. It is still best to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with simple pleasures; and have courage when things go wrong.”
--Laura Ingalls Wilder

"What you believe has a much greater impact on your life than what anybody else believes.”
--Joel Osteen, Your Best Life Now

“At any moment, you have a choice, that either leads you closer to your spirit or further away from it.”
--Thich Nhat Hanh

“Remember that failure is an event, not a person.”
--Zig Ziglar
