Now I sit me down to eat,
I pray the Lord I will not cheat.
If I should reach for cake or bread
please guide my hand to greens instead!
But help me Lord, if I indulge
and lose the Battle of the Bulge,
to understand that ounce for ounce,
It's Who I Am That Really Counts!

I'm a yo-yo dieter who's on the road to break that awful habit! No more diets for me, just a life-change that will start very slowly at first, taking one goal at a time until I have that as a life habit. Then I'll move on to the next goal and so on! I can overcome and will overcome, just one step at a time!

I'm excited for the 2019 Fall 5% Challenge I just joined. I'm a Determined Daisy and I'm excited! It starts October 5th and runs through November 30th. 8 weeks of challenges, motivation, support and fun!

Now, a little about my journey...
Sept. 2013, when I went in for my 6 month check-up, I got a wake up call. My blood sugar was "a little high," my Dr said. Since diabetes runs in my family (both my mom & oldest sister had type 2 diabetes), this news shook me up as he diagnosed me as Pre-Diabetic! About a year before, my dear oldest sister passed away (Aug 2012) from complications to diabetes. I began taking this serious and working on a few helps I'd found. I went out and bought a meter and began trying to lower my blood sugar levels by testing myself and eating healthier. I did a lot of internet searches and found that a ketogenic, low-carb diet helped others to bring down their blood sugars to healthier numbers. I began to implement this in my diet.
Since then I have lost 70 pounds and my blood sugars are much lower! Yes, it's been an up and down journey, but I am closer to my goal now than I ever have been before!

Fitness Minutes: 111,544

My Goals:
1: Drink 8+ cups of water daily.
2: Walk 10+ minutes a day, 6 days a week.
3: Eat no more than 20-25 Carbs total for the day.
4. Sleep a minimum of 7 hrs, nightly.

Overall Goal: to weigh-in between 125-135 lbs.


My Program:
2019 Fall 5% Challenge Health/Diet/Exercise Commitment:
1.Eating Low-Carb/High-Fat, Ketogenic (trying to stay within 20-25 Total Carbs daily)
2. Intermittent Fasting 12-16 hrs a day.
3. Water - 8 cups, daily
4. Walking 10+ minutes minimum daily, 6 days a week, arthritis permitting.
5. To start a Strength Training program 3 days a week.



Personal Information:
I'm a 61 year old wife, mom and grandma who's on her way to a new, healthier life!
