Starting over with a body positive approach to lifestyle changes; trying to adopt the ideals that you can be healthy at any size. While I know that there will probably be days that are tough for my body image I believe that by making it about living an active life and eating healthy rather than societal expectations of thinness and beauty I will ultimately be more successful in finding joy in what my body can do.

(7/2013) Since the last time I updated this section (more than two years ago) I have had a baby and in the 13 months since my wonderful boy was born I have undone practically all the work I did in 2011. To look on the positive side I am starting five pounds lighter than where I started before. Much of what I said before still holds true. I am learning.

(2011) I started a concerted effort to lose weight in February and have been making gradual lifestyle changes since. My focus is on sustainable changes that I feel I can live with for the rest of my life.

I am learning to:
*Prioritize health and fitness over instant gratification
*Make conscious choices regarding what I eat and how much
*Experiment with and enjoy new foods
*Have a healthy balanced diet that does not exclude any food group
*Accept myself for who I am and own my decisions (including mistakes)
*Judge my success by the way my clothes fit, how strong I feel, and how much more energy I have rather than the number on the scale

Personal Information:
Living in Massachusetts with my husband, two year old, and two kitties.
