I joined Sparkpeople because I'm determined to turn my life around. This community site addresses everything that we all need to have a healthy life and a positive attitude and that's what I love about it.

I have Diabetes Type 2 and take Metformin twice a day. I also have Bipolar I and mild Aspergers as well as NAFLD, CFS, and a pituitary tumour. The medication I take daily for my Bipolar has caused me to balloon from a size 10 to a size 24 since I started taking antipsychotics almost 4 years ago and I struggle to lose weight due to this in conjunction with the effects of the pituitary tumour. I am currently experiencing severe pain and breathlessness even just walking.

I would love to have some support whilst I get my health and fitness back on track and would love to give support back to those in need. I don't bite unless asked - add me as a friend :-)

This is the start of My New Life and I look forward to the journey.

Fitness Minutes: 8,247

My Goals:
1) Lose all my excess weight
2) Get fit and toned up
3) Manage my Bipolar and AS better
4) Wear funky punky clothes - just like I used to before the meds got the better of me!
5) Get back into sports - trail running, geocaching, hiking, lacrosse and be confident in the gym
6) Trek the Inca Trail
7) Take part in the Survival of The Fittest Race race


My Program:
I'm concentrating on cleaning up my diet first. They say it takes just 1 month for a new thing to become a habit so I am focusing on eating well for 1 month and then going from there. Small steps.

I walk every day between 3 and 6 miles but intend to increase my cardio exercise once I have shifted a few pounds to take the strain off of my back and feet.

I currently do a lot of strength training - I love weights and body weight circuits and do these at home.

I take supplements that my body needs for chronic migraine, CFS, and adrenal fatigue. Currently this is an extensive regime:

I live in Sussex in the UK and get to enjoy both the coast and the countryside

My favourite books are nutrition guides, High Rise by by JG Ballard, Generation X by Douglas Coupland, Pollen by Jeff Noon, Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami, 1984 by George Orwell, The Celestine Prophesy by James Redfield, and The Key to the Kingdom.

I love photography, geocaching, urban exploration, paleontology, anthropology, psychology, complementary health, art, reading, gadgets and strange films - the stranger the better. Oh and I collect the limited editions skins on Absolut vodka bottles...

My favourite magazine is Bizarre and I love tattoos, abandoned buildings, Tartan Asia films, anything apocalyptic, aylums, medical museums and mojitos.
