I don't mind the Christmas decorations because turkeys haven't even gone on sale yet (actually no stores even carry them in my town just yet) so I might as well enjoy looking at the decorations!

As for your obsession with the scale...LOL...I used to be the same way. It's a rather bad habit to break, but it gets depressing when you see the numbers go up instead of down (daily weighing). Lots of things could contribute to the weight gain...water retention, gaining muscle, plain old bloating, etc. It's best to weigh once a week, in the morning, after you go to the bathroom, and with little to no clothes on, so it's accurate. And don't just think that if your scale numbers aren't moving or are going in the wrong direction, that your progress isn't paying off. Look for NSV (non-scale victories) as well...looser clothing, better energy, better balance, easier to breathe, etc. Hope this helps.

I was eating around the same before I became aware of what a real portion size looks like. I love the nights I can factor in 1/4 cup of peppermint stick ice cream (we bought some on sale). I save each bite. Instead of eating a whole spoonful at a time, I eat a little bit on the tip of the spoon so I can savor each bite. I can make a 1/4 cup (1/2 serving size) last a while!
