Hi I am Beth and I started a Vegan diet for Health and for Weightloss April of 2010. It had helped my diabetes numbers a lot, but the weight was not coming off. So I decided to try Spark and it's working. I also have had about two years of inactivity prior to and after back surgery. Hallelujah, the pain is finally gone. I've been increasing my activity to test myself and I had one little twinge after a really active day at the gym. I consider myself back to normal!!!!!
One of my major goals now that I am retired is to get back in good physical shape so I can go on a Peace Corps or Volunteer mission somewhere in the world.
My Spark Journey has been fun and sometimes not as fun, but the overall result is awesome. I am learning to let myself have some failures and just let them go. I'm proud of just keeping on regardless! I still have some weight to lose and I plan on doing that by the middle of 2011. Then my big reward will be a hiking trip somewhere in the mountains....hopefully in the Andes. I can't wait to see what happens. I wish everyone at spark nothing but success and health. And I'm starting my own little blog to say just that. That I wish all my friends, family, pets and the world health and happiness and success.

Fitness Minutes: 4,946

My Goals:
Get back in shape after back surgery. (The pain is gone! I am on my way.)

Walk 5 miles all at once. (No problem at all)

Go the gym at least 3 times a week. (This is a challenge.)

Get back to a healthy weight. (Goal for June 1, 2011)

Personal Information:
I was born in Iowa. After marrying, I moved to Minnesota. I lived in England for 14 years. I have 2 sons and 3 granddaughters. I have a Havanese dog who is my best companion. I read a LOT as always.

Other Information:
I have a couple of goals that are intersecting. I want to hike in the mountains and I want to volunteer for the Peace Corps or other organization. My research keeps taking me to volunteer programs in schools and villages in the Andes. So that fits both of my goals and excites me even more. I am starting to believe that it's possible! Thank you to Spark.
