So I'm starting all over again. I am a 50 something kindergarten teacher, mother of four grown children and 7 grandchildren. I've been a member of SP for a long time, but have also been away for a long time. My spark didn't dim, it went out. I put my health on the back burner to take care of others, and now I'm paying the price. I have discovered that if I want to take care of others, I have to take care of ME first. I am dealing with some serious problems due to arthritis and degenerative disc disease, so I am going to focus on healthy eating and doing what exercise I can.

My Goals:
To get healthy.
To get to a healthy weight.
To eat healthy.
Exercise at least 10 minutes a day.

My Program:
I am tracking all of my food on the nutrition tracker. I am going to do as much exercise as I can- starting with 10 minutes a day.

Personal Information:
My name is Karen. I'm originally from sunny CA, spent 10 years living in Idaho (I love it there!), and currently live in the Kentuckiana area ( I live in IN but work in KY). I have four children, two girls and two boys. I have SEVEN grandchildren, who mean the world to me. I have two less than intelligent but lovable basset hounds, a kitty named Tigger, and a wonderful fiance, Mike.

Other Information:
I love to play my flute, garden, cook, scrapbook, and read. I'll read just about anything, but I'm a sucker for a good romance. I also enjoy writing stories. I'm a serious Tigger addict- I love his optimistic outlook and energy.

    Thanks for the GOODIE, Hon. You are doing fantastic. I went to the Thriftstore today and found 5 workout tapes for $1 each, so I'm thrilled. They are by Kathy Smith, Denise Austin, Karen Voight, the FIRM, and Balance Ball workout. I was so happy to save all that money!

    Just read your posting on my blog. I think you are right on when you say small goals of 15 minutes. I think if you overshoot, you just disappoint yourself. I am speaking from experience. I used to set my exercise goals so high and was overwhelmed and disappointed when I didn't make it. So I'm with you. 15 minutes now, a marathon later. Just kidding. I have no intentions of running a marathon, but you get my point. :)

    I would like to personally welcome you to the Sparks Family. You will find great articles, lots of motivation and members who really care about you. Find a team that fits with you and your needs and take it slow at first. My first response was to jump in everywhere, and I became overwhelmed. Now I have fewer teams that I belong to, they are personal and workable. I get my support for them. If you need help, check out all the new member information, it gives you alot of information. Ask and people will help.
