HI, I am trying to lose weight as I have put on an enormous amount (35 kg) in the last few years, due to PCOS. I have already lost 7 kg (15.5 lb) and have just found Spark People. I can't really follow the SP guidelines because the carbs and even daily calorie intake are WAY too high, but I like being able to track my progress like this.

I have just started putting together a website on PCOS:
I'd love it if you'd stop by and have a look and let me know what you think.

My Goals:
My first goal is to bring my BMI down below 30 and keep it there as it keeps nudging just above and even though it's just a name I am not comfortable with the whole "Obese" range. Ultimately I want to be back around the 65 - 70kg range as I felt healthiest there. I have always been fairly muscular so I don't want to focus too much on weight, more on fitness and health.

My Program:
I eat a protein based breakfast each day and try and limit my carbs to under 100 g gross per day, 60 g if I'm being extra good. I take D-chiro inositol and Glucorein for PCOS and am trying to spend some time on the cross trainer and walking the dog every day. I have also recently put together a smoothie to replace some nutrients that women with PCOS can't metabolise properly and have lost 5.5 kg in the last month by taking it.

Personal Information:

Other Information:
I've just finished reading Warren Buffett's biography "The Snowball" by Alice Schroeder. I really enjoyed it and learned so much about the man that I never would have guessed. He is truly unique, though not always in ways that should be looked up to.

Thank you for reading my blog about seeing a nutritionist. My doctor gave me a referral to see a nutritionist, but I don't exactly what type of degree this lady had. That's a good question if my insurance only covered a dietitionist instead. I would have thought she would be familiar with PCOS. I guess the other question still troubling me is it true (after 35 out of my 40 years of eating poorly) that I can change my metabolism just by changing my habits today? I thought from eating poorly, I permanently lower my metabolism.

P.S. I checked out your website. I have used some of the supplements you have suggested, not realizing that these are symptoms of PCOS. In the last ten years I have also been losing my hair. About two inches of my hairline has drifted higher on my forehead in what is usually seen in men. Doctors would always ask if I had excessive hair growth, not receding hairlines. Have you come across any treatment for that? I have used evening primrose and my hair seem thicker in back, but not the hairline.

You seem very knowledgeable about PCOS and I would like your advice. I am 39 years old and would like to have a baby. I just got the test results Monday that I do have cysts on my ovaries. What a relief to finally get an answer,,,but also annoyed. I have seen many doctors since 1995 and they suspected it and wouldn't do anything until they had proof. Couldn't they just use their common sense and look at my apple shape body and 20 years of infertility?

Hi Belrosa! Looking up PCOS info (I will blog on my story in the future), but your PCOS page is amazing! (I see the person to posted below says the same thing) . I want to make that smoothie, but am amazed it has so many calories. What's in it? LOL...but it looks great...and as a meal supplement, it's perfect!

I'm not a big'd think I am by looking at me, but I'm not, so any time I can get the right stuff down is a good thing.

I'm going to go through your PCOS page later with a fine-toothed comb when I'm done working. Thanks so much for all your info!!!

I hope it's OK if I add you to my 'friends'? I'm just starting out...need all the motivation I can get.

Thank you!!! I am still in awe of your brain and it's powers! Your PCOS page has literally handed me information that I have been searching for for quite awhile. You have no idea how grateful I am!

It is frustrating that we were searching while we were thin, but it took weight gain (that is beyond hard to lose now) for us to be diagnosed. I try to see some sort of positive in it, but most of the time I want to go back in time and kick my doctor in the rear! emoticon

Thank you for putting a big smile on my face!
