In Spring I went looking for Change and found it. Change is disruptive. In Fall I will work to bring this change in balance with my long-term health goals.

Hi. I'm Brian and this is where I post my goals and accomplishments on I love to hike, bike, run and be outdoors. I am on a journey towards health and happiness. I'm always making plans, setting new goals and challenging myself. I recently took up running and mountain biking. Stop by often to see what I'm up to. Leave comments or suggestions below.

My Goals:
~ Live a healthy and active life
~ Maintain my running program
~ Daily strength training and yoga
~ Daily mindfulness and meditation

My Program:
~ Start the day with mindful coffee
~ End the day with loving kindness
~ Do some yoga

Workout plan:
~ Darebee every day! (
~ Tuesday, Thursday- Run (40 - 60 minutes)
~ Monday, Wednesday - Strength & mobility workout
~ Wednesday, Saturday - Cross (hiking/biking/walking)
~ Friday - Rest
~ Sunday - Long slow run

Meal plan:
~ Eat a mainly plant-based diet
~ Weekly meal plans
~ Daily journalling

~ Participate in the seasonal 5% Challenge
~ 100 Days of Weight Loss
~ Stay connected to my Spark Friends
~ Change my program regularly to stay engaged

Personal Information:
I'm a 50-something technical writer, mountaineer, bicycler, hiker, illustrator, gardener, runner and father of one. I live in the Pacific Northwest near Seattle. I lost my wife in 2014 after an 11 year battle with cancer. I love dogs, but I live with a cat. We don't seem to mind each other.

    HI Brian!! @Suefromri is sooo FUNNY!!! OH MY YES!!! But, as for the 3 of us, once a Dawg, they say we are ALWAYS A Dawg. Personally we all KNEW I am more of a CAT person.

    Glad to hear things are going so well!! They are for me also. I am working again, 3 full days and 2 part days. I am helping as a foster Grandmother in the 2nd grade in a city near me. SUPER FUN!!

    You'll swing back into the healthier eating habits hopefully soon.

    hi Brian,
    @DianeDoesSmiles doesn't realize that I didn't escape. I wandered off and got lost. This year I found myself in a huge field of CLOVERLEAFS! I am enjoying myself! This challenge I may make my 5% goal despite having minimum exercise time due to my ankle and shoulder injuries. (I credit it to tracking and not eating brussell sprouts!)

    HI Brian!! I saw your name on Sue's page, thought I'd POP Ovah and see how you are?

    Sue and I have also ESCAPED the KENNEL!!! Shhhhh I am not sure if MaryAnn has noticed I've been GONE??? LOLOL yeah she does. They were SO SURPRISED, but so was I!!

    I'm now the CL on the Awesome A team. It's been a year now, and yes, I am really enjoying it!!
