It's time to post a couple of pictures. I have been putting it off, really. I guess I have been ashamed of how big I became, but since I am among friends here, I figured tonight was the night to just do it.
I started out at 257.5 pounds. I was at least that in the picture in April '08. I didn't start making my life healthier until March '09, so I might have been heavier when the picture was taken, or not. Just not sure. There was a period where I wasn't weighing myself at all, so ...

I started out at 257.5 pounds. I was at least that in the picture in April '08. I didn't start making my life healthier until March '09, so I might have been heavier when the picture was taken, or not. Just not sure. There was a period where I wasn't weighing myself at all, so great was my fear of the number on the scale.
The picture of me all in black was taken today, January 30, 2010. I weigh 195. I still obviously have a long way to go to reach my goal weight of 140, but I am over half-way there, and I am intensely proud of my accomplishments to date. I am more determined than ever to succeed in not only losing the weight, but in making my lifestyle change a permanent change.
I am in this for life. I really am. It's the major difference between this time of losing weight, and all of the other times where I 'dieted'. I no longer 'diet'. I follow a new lifestyle; a new way of eating and a new way of treating my body. Instead of sitting on the couch all day every day, I devote at least an hour and a half a day, 5 days a week, to exercise; something I never would have done a year ago.
We can all make these changes permanent. The best way I have found to do it is to take small steps so that we don't feel it's a burden, or feel overwhelmed by trying to do everything at once. That is a major reason so many 'diets' fail - we try to do everything overnight, and it just doesn't work that way.
Anyway, the pictures are here. I will post more as I get closer to my goal weight. If nothing else, I hope it inspires some people who are 250+ pounds. If I can do this, anyone can!

My Goals:
1) Lose 120 pounds
2) Tone my body
3) Be HEALTHY
4) Enjoy outside activities with my children
My Program:
I drink water all day long (but not excessively). I stopped drinking tea, coffee, soda, etc., because I only like those things with a lot of sugar, and I am trying to avoid large amounts of sugar in my daily diet.
Every morning, I work out starting on my elliptical machine. I then use my rowing machine, then the Fitness Disc, and finally, will start using the Ab Circle Pro on Monday (just got it).
Personal Information:
I say I am from Washington state, because I lived there for many years, and still have a lot of family there, and it's the place I love most.
However, I live in Montgomery, Alabama with my husband and two children.
You can email me at: AvonelleRed@aol.com
Other Information:
I love any books by Dean Koontz. He's my favorite author. I also enjoy some of Stephen King's works, and various other horror or mystery authors.
My daughter and I really enjoy bowling together, so we sometimes do a mommy/daughter day with bowling and lunch. So much fun, and she never even notices that it's exercise!
