Over the past few years of college my eating habits have gotten progressively worse and my exercise has gotten far less frequent. As a result of that I have gained about 30lbs that I need to get rid of. I tend to lose weight quickly when I track my food and workout consistently. I go strong for a few weeks then fall off the wagon. My brother asked me to run a 1/2 marathon this August, and I thought what a great way to get me active again. I am also hoping that by 5 months of training I will continue after the race in my new habits. Other than to look and feel better, my main motivation to get control of my health now, is that way I don't end up with multiple PREVENTABLE health problems. At a doctor visit my family history made me check almost every illness (heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure/chelesterol, diabetes, etc). As shocked as I was to see how many illnesses are present in my family, after some research they are almost all preventable and treatable with proper nutrition and fitness. Basically I am trying to begin a healthy, active life now that I am about to enter the "real world" :)

Welcome to the C25K Team!! :D I started this program nearly two years ago and found a passion for running!! I hope it does the same for you!

If you run, you are a runner. It doesn't matter how fast or how far. It doesn't matter if today is your first day or if you've been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run.
