    Hello and Welcome to SparkPeople!

I started Sparking in June of 2007. By using Spark and some self discovery along the way, I'm down 50 pounds, and am holding steady at a healthy weight. Spark is a massive site, you'll be discovering new and exciting things for months to come!
    * Diet is a dirty word. Every time I hear it, I wash my mouth out with chocolate! emoticon emoticon

Hi. Welcome to SP! So glad you have come. First of all I would like to recommend finding a sparkteam...they really help with motivation and encouragement. I would suggest finding one with like interests and/or goals. Here is the link to the teams:

Second of all...I totally know where you are coming from. I am in my mid 30's and haven't been a "normal" weight since I was 16 and even then I was slightly overweight. I really don't know what its like to be thin. I am 200lbs overweight. I have done just about every diet you can think of...and none have worked for me. I never can stay motivated. Or at first I'm excited but then I get discouraged and quit.

I have been on and off SP since 2008. This time has been very different for me because I am trying something a whole lot different. I am doing a carb swap diet but its not really a diet its a lifestyle change. I don't count calories, I haven't even really exercised yet, its a bit difficult because of my size, and in 7 weeks I have lost 27lbs and 8 inches. I don't take pills or only drink shakes. I eat regular food but I watch how much carbs and sugar I eat a day. If you want to know more about that you can sp mail me...

How I make sp work for me is I use their nutrition tracker to track my water...I would also us the food tracker but it doesn't use sugar...I use my own journal. I also feel another thing that helps is the community, especially being part of a team.

    Hope that helps...
