Hi all! My name is Amanda. I recently got married and my husband and I decided to train for a half marathon in order to honor our vow of staying healthy for each other. I am very anxious for this race in November. I was never a runner until I met my husband. I was a gymnast and very anaerobic in my exercise. My husband taught me that running is fun and that it is a great, cheap way to get fit.

I went to college weighing only 130 lbs. I left college weighing 150 lbs. I currently weigh 148 and desperately want to get back to a healthy BMI. I can feel my body aching to be healthy again. I want to honor my husband and God by creating a healthy lifestyle that honors both of them.
I am also a 1st grade teacher as well as a cheerleading coach for 9th graders. It is important as a leader of my community that I set a great example of what it is like to lead a Godly and healthy lifestyle. I feel that if I can get myself back to the healthy 130-135 lbs, then I will be able to set the standard of living a healthy life.

Of course, I have the reason of confidence as a motivator as well. Yes, my health is important to me. Yes, I want to be an honorable wife and Christian. And yes, I want to be a better leader of my community. But I also want to FEEL better in all of these areas. If I can FEEL better, then I will be much more confident in my life's roles.

    Let me know how your training goes. Once (I'm not going to say "if") I finish the 10K I hope to move on to the half!

    I'm doing okay- glad it warmed up and I'm trying to focus on running- I'm thinking about doing a 10k at the end of the summer. Eating has been on and off so occasionally I see a number in the 120s on the scale, but unfortunately it never stays long. Maybe if I run consistently I'll be where I want.
