I am a mom of 3 adult daughters and a professional who is on the road a lot. I love photography and love learning about photography. i have lost my way on self care, again and am having a difficult time renewing my interest even though I know it's going to be detrimental in the long run. I struggle with the choice to exercise more and not work more. I could be called a workaholic. Because I really do love my work and get to do and see interesting places. But...

I want to continue to make outdoor activities the venue where my husband I reconnect with the free time along with recreational travel that includes physical activity.

I want to feel strong and healthy so that I feel exhilarated by outdoor activities and not exhausted by them.

I realize this is a journey just like it was a journey to get to the unhealthy space that I was in when I began the journey to health.

Thanks for reading my blog and sending me the site of electronic visual collages...I went to it and it looked interesting. I was thinking of trying one on my computer using Photoshop but this looked easier! Nancy

I don't know if I have any Sage Advice, just a few hints that kept me headed in the right direction.

First, I picked a couple of trouble spots and vowed not to let them bother my progress. I have kept to my goals of: never drinking my calories (water and 0 calorie drinks), giving up both mayonnaise and milk (love them both, but bad - bad - bad), and working out every day.

I use Sparkpeople tools to all the advantage I can. I'm motivated by seeing progress so I keep fastidious food and fitness logs. The calorie counting keeps me honest and seeing the workout minutes and miles adding up helps motivate me.

I generally eat what I want, I just keep strict portion control on my meals. I do however eat a lot healthier now that I'm becoming more and more educated about nutrition.

The only real diet tips I have are to advise you to plan out you daily food intake and stay within your calorie range. Also, I borrowed from some well known diet plans and schedule three small to medium sized meals with two small meals (or snacks) at mid-day and mid-afternoon. This keeps my metabolism fed and active (so I'm not starving my body of the nutrients needed to function without slowing), and also helps keep me from cheating because a snack or meal is always just on the horizon.

Lastly, when you come to a plateau (and you will), I found one way to break through is to alter your daily calorie intake back and forth from the high calorie range to the low. In this way you keep your body off balance and it won't anticipate a nutrient level.

Good Luck and if I can ever be of any help, let me know.

PS - Very nice picture of you and your daughter.

Thank you for your comment on my blog. It was great to see this morning. I have two young daughters and I'm hoping that they never have to battle to lose weight. Hopefully, if they do, they can look back on pictures of me what will be my heaviest and see that it can be done.

Keep up the great work with your lifestyle journey!!
