Howdy!

I'm a 48 yr. old wife and a mother of three (all grown now!). It's been a while since I have been on Spark People, but now I'm back and hoping to make a new start! My daughter and my neice have been encouraging me and some of my other family members to be a group on Spark People, and it's been very motivating and encouraging.

About 12 years ago, I lost close to 150 pounds. Through calorie counting, healthy eating, much exercise, and a lot of support from my family, I went from 275 pounds to 126 pounds. I was able to keep the weight off for a long time. Then I developed a knee injury from running and arthritis in my back. This has limited my ability to exercise and I have gained some weight back over the past few yrs. Although I've been able to keep about a hundred lbs off, I am hoping to lose some of the weight I've gained back by having a healthier diet and reasonable exercise.

I've been trying out a plant based vegan low fat diet and it has been working very well for me. I have also been doing strength training, low impact aerobics, and yoga.

I don't want to gain back all the weight that I worked so hard to take off, so I'm going to try to stay consistent and stick with it this time. I hope it works!

My Goals:
My goals are to get to a healthier weight and get into better shape despite my setbacks. I plan on getting more control over my diet and lose 45 pounds, and to do strengh training, light cardio, and yoga in a smart way in order to be able to keep up an exercise routine without pain.

No sugar

Low fat
Lots of veggies
Eat fruit everyday

Other Information:
My favorite hobby is organic gardening and my backyard poultry flock (chickens and geese). I love drawing, craft projects, and reading (mysteries are my favorite). I also have 5 cats--plus a pitbull/border collie mix and two corgis that help me to walk every day!
