Sept. 15th, 2011

O.K., so this is supposed to be the place where you introduce yourself and let everyone know who you are and/or what your goals and struggles are. Obviously, it's weight but really I don't think I would try to lose an ounce if we could be healthy in any shape. I love being healthy and I desparately want to stay that way.

Why? Because I really am a happy housewife. I love my life and I just want to keep on keepin' on. I love getting up everyday and getting the boys to school, starting the laundry, cleaning a "section" of the house, doing school with my daughter, ahhhh a shower, heading back into town to get the boys from cross country and football practice, home for a meal and out the door for a soccer game, dance or guitar lesson and who knows what else??? Lest we forget my store. Yep, I have a little store called HALF TO HAVE IT! where I sell antiques, home decor and gently used name brand clothes. Strange combo but they are all a reflection of things I love tucked away at a local market. Fun, fun, fun. I simply do not have time for poor health.

I thank God everyday, (nearly), for the blessing of health and pray that I have the brains to do things that will help me continue to have it.

That's me..Happy, (most of the time) Housewife, (all of the time) and trying to stay the course on this wonderful journey called life. It's not easy and I fail myself and my Savior daily but through His grace He will see me to completion.

Feel free to friend me if you stop by. I'm sure we have lots in common.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. I feel so much more confident this time. The first time was a figure it out thing. What can I eat? How much? Did I over eat at this restaurant?

This time I feel as if I have already learned some of those answers. Getting a clue as to what has high calories and what doesn't makes it much easier to make decisions. And yes, 90% of the time at a restaurant you are over-eating. but even there I have learned. Tacos are delicious and low in calories. Pie can be purchased and brought home in a "to go" box for breakfast the next day. Eat the salsa not the queso and so on. Little choices with big rewards.

Here's my newest goals:

1). Stick with your eating plan. It is working for you. It may take a long time but we are talking about a life time of good habits not a "Hollywood diet."

2.) Lose the weight and then tone the flab. Oh sure, you should do this all at once, but I think baby steps work better for me. Maybe I'll change my mind as I lose some of this weight, but for now, "focus, focus, focus."

3). Stop the negative thinking. You know, that little voice inside your head that says, "I'm too tired" or "too old" or "I'm really not the type of person that would ever have a body like that anyway." And how about, "I've tried all of this before." New mantras will be set.

4). My BIKE! My beloved bike. I haven't even been in the garage to air up the tires. I pass cyclist along the ride and I wonder where their mind is taking them. Are they concentrating to push themselves and get that extra mile or reach that new goal or are they letting their mind open up and free thinking through all of their worries, concerns, and plans? Do they get stuck on a song like I do? Down came a black bird sittin' on a wire Talkin' in riddles making absolutely perfect sense Oh she's gone, my baby's gone.....

Bike, baby, bike. You know how good it is.

Dear Food,

I love you so much I am willing to die for you. I will sacrifice my eyes so that I cannot see my loved ones, my ears so that I will not hear their laughs, my hands so that I cannot labor for them, my legs so that I cannot walk beside them. I give you my heart, my thoughts and memories and in return I can fill my mouth with pleasure-momentary and self-gratifying. I'll sign that contract. I'll make that deal with you because I love you more than anything else. More than me, more than my family, more than God's holy word that tells me I am His temple. I have chosen.

Think about it. Who or what do you really want to live for and why?

Good morning, Kim, and thanks for the "goodie"! I can use the motivation!

Congrats on your success here! I like your idea of rewarding yourself with the 5 lb loss post. I think I'll try it, too. I am not able to be as accurate as you are, as I use my really old scale, but I can tell close enough emoticon

I'm headed out to coffee and prayer with a friend, so I'll wish you a great day!

My new goal: When I reach a 5 lb. weight loss I will reward myself by posting a new updated picture. (Something I normally don't like to do). I'm a scrawny few ounces away. emoticon

Bless your heart, Kim. It is hard changing our thinking to having the things that used to be a regular part of our diet to an occasional treat. Keep up the good work. I've been having a hard time eating the right things when we seem to live at the ball field these days. The season is about over and it has been worth it - too fun!

O.K., so I found it difficult to prepare french toast, eggs and bacon for my family and know that I could not eat any of it. The melting butter with oozing Maple syrup and powdered sugar just about won me over. I love bacon and it was cooked to perfection by my daughter. Even the eggs setting next to the french toast on the plate just looked so tempting. But I did it. I decided that I can have that for a reward occasionally but it can't be a regular part of my diet. Here's to veggies and popcorn!!
