It's time for a walk on the healthier side of life. For the past 25 years I've watched my weight creep up an average of 3 pounds per year. Well . . . 3 x 25 = 75. YIKES!!! It's way past time for changes.

A lighter me would own a swimsuit and not be embarrassed at/in the pool. (One would think at my age I would know it's my own thinking that's creating my embarrassment.)

A lighter me would have more fun clothes shopping. A wider selection would be available and I could actually find clothes that I enjoy wearing.

A lighter me would be healthier for my body--lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, less stress on the old ticker, bones and joints.

A lighter me would be better able to keep up with my 2 year old grand-daughter.

With these thoughts in mind, on 7/12/09 my honey and I took the advice of his daughter, checked out SP, and together embarked on this adventure of a new healthy lifestyle.

My Goals:
Along with losing 79 pounds, I am getting back into making this body move, back into living and enjoying life. Yes, diet and exercise are needed, but more important, a complete change within--a change in thinking, a change in attitude--is happening now. It's this change that makes the weight loss, exercise, lifestyle changes a success.

My Program:
8/6/09 Currently my program is:

1. Log every piece of food that goes into my mouth.
2. Measure/weigh all foods.
3. Yes, I drink at least 64 oz. of water and visit the ladies' room about every hour & a half.
4. Weigh-in only once a week. Keep a log of weigh-ins noting weight, weekly loss, and total loss since starting program. My intention is to take measurements only once a month. (I'll complete week 4 on 8/10/09.)
5. Log in to SP every day and work through the SparkPoint checklist. This keeps me informed and motivated.
6. Exercising on a regular basis is still something I'm working on to make as a daily habit.

This program seems to be working for me at this point in time. I haven't had to face the challenge of hitting a plateau, but I think I'll be better prepared when it happens.

    Thanks for the comment on my page. YES, it all worked out at the performance.

    I hope we don't have to go through that again, however. It added stress. The assistant directors did a good job and singing with the other chorus was fun. I was still a little embarrassed that we didn't know one of the songs we sang together...talk about lip syncing! I knew it well enough to LOOK like I knew it!!

    Taking a step back and looking at the positives was helpful to me.

    We each have own learning curve. It is sometimes difficult to change what you have been doing so long.

    The way I see it is this:

    You gained 1.5 lbs back? Do you know how you did it? Are you trying your best? Are you going to keep on trekking?

    If you answered "yes" to at least the last question then you are doing great and have nothing to feel bad about.

    Weight loss, like humans, is not perfect and exact. It is hard to do and those of us working on it are going to stumble and sometimes fall along the way. We just have to try to learn from these missteps and move on as wiser people. If we stick with it we will reach our goals.

    I know that I can do this and I KNOW that you can TOO!! We are here for each other and are ready to reach out a hand when the other has stumbled on their path. What more do we need?!
