I think I was born with it.

My "lofty" goal is to climb Mt. Everest in 5-10 years.

I've found that if I take baby steps, with a big goal at the end, before I know it.... I am there!

Started by loosing 91 pounds.

I can now run 5 miles a day, every day, with ease.

Going to sign up for my first marathon in September.

Once I can do that, I am going to train for triathlons as everything that I have read about Everest points to those atheletes doing best.

My first step is to work on my distance swimming which is a challenge. (I used to be a competitive swimmer who perfected short bursts of energy- getting across 50-100 meters in fewer minutes- spending lots of time on the wall.) Similarly, I am a really good sprinter. Distance running isn't something that comes naturally.

Now, that my lifestyle has changed.... and I work very hard to attain my goals.... I need to think about my nutrition and fuel daily so I can run after the kids go to sleep every night. Where I used to consume 1300 calories a day to loose, I have to consume 2400 to maintain. This is really hard. On my big run days, I am almost at 3000 calories, which isn't too fun. But, it is what it is. I constantly have to remind myself of the big picture...... my ultimate goal----

What is your Everest? Would love to hear about your journey to get there!

My Goals:
1) Become a picture of health
*** March 2011 (130#), at a physical, my GP couldn't believe how low my blood pressure was, and how great my labs were... so, if this is an indicator of health, I accomplished it.****

2) start running 1/2 marathons

(**Training for two years now. 9 min./mile is my slow pace, 7 is me pushing it. Average weekly miles~ 30. Did 13.1 two weeks ago at 1hr. 40 min. However, went further- 15.5 and hit a wall at 14 where my body gave out. This is my current goal to get past.***)

3) run marathons

4) train for triathalons

5) climb mountains

6) climb Everest

My Program:
Watch everything I put in my mouth. ("you are what you eat!")

Don't eat past 7PM (lately, it is 5PM)

Drink water like its going out of style

Don't eat 1-2 hours before rigorous exercise.

Walk everywhere (not kidding on this one~ FIGHT the urge to drive your car. Who cares what people think! If you can do it~ use your feet to get where you want to go:)

Consider daily caloric intake when cooking dinner

In peak loosing mode- I tried on clothes that were one size too small each morning to gauge where I wanted to be that month. Was okay with the fact that, for instance, a size 12 was snug. Loose fitting 12's were something to look forward to!

Continue to try and exercise 30-60 minutes a day, 6 days a week.

Maintain a BMI between 20-21.79

Good Morning, my friend. It was great to open my page and see a message from you. Looks like you are doing awesome. I am finishing up on the Summer 5% challenge and while I did not loose the 5%, I have lost 5#'s and for that I am very pleased. Now on to the Fall 5% challenge.

DH and I are getting ready for our anniversary trip to Hawaii. emoticon I am going to take Hulu lessons. Too funny - this 65 year old woman doing the hulu. Oh well, I don't feel 65 so am going to just do it and not worry about it.

    Good to hear from you.

    Hugs, Sunny

I am so impressed with how far you have come, I mean REALLY impressed. I love what you said, that 157 felt ideal for you! When my doctor said 135 would be a healthy weight I gulped loudly and said (meekly) "but I advent been that weight in FOREVER" now that I'm so close I'm realizing that I'll probably still be a little chubby! Ha! I even convinced myself at 162 that I didn't look THAT bad! At least I was fun, interesting nice person, right? You are an inspiration, keep up the great work!
