Great article. I work out and have worked hard to achieve my goals but I am still not comfortable in a bathing suit. Report
These are some good tips. I'm usually pretty fine with body when it comes to the day-to-day, but I am so uncomfortable in a bathing suit that I do whatever I can to avoid it. Usually articles about finding the right bathing suit for your body type act like each person only has one "issue" without taking into consideration that we might actually have MORE than one, so I really like your idea about buying tops and bottoms separately. Thanks for writing this and sharing your knowledge. Report
Thank you for a great article. Report
Happy is a great way to wear a swimsuit.
My favourite is a cheap supermarket cheetah print I bought probably 7-8 years... Report
Swimsuits for All also carry a nice variety of swimsuits. Or you can also look for "modest swimsuits" if you really want to cover up. Not pleased with my body at my weight and age, but find a nice suit and get out and have some fun. Unless you are dressed really inappropriately you are paying a lot more attention to yourself than the others are. Enjoy life!

My current bathing suit for my water aerobics class is a tee-shirt on top and shorts on the bottom. I'm hoping to gain the confidence to get a nice suit. Report
Wonderful article, so many of us suffer this and I lately noticed men also suffer the dreaded going out in swimsuit fear. Report
Excellent article. Good need-to-know information! Report
I was advised by my PT to go to a pool to exercise and having to buy a bathing suit gives me nightmares! Thank you for this article, Report
I live in Hawaii and we basically have two types of beach goers and two types of swim wear:
Beach goer #1. Look at me, I'm at the beach, and #2. is too busy enjoying the water, sand, and surf to care who is looking.
Swim wear #1. Look at me, I'm in a bikini/tankini/flashy one-piece at the beach, and #2. I'm wearing it and I'm swimming.
As long as my lady parts are covered and I am not in danger of losing said coverage, IDGAD what others think of me while I am enjoying the water, especially since I usually go when it is hot and the doggo and I can use the cooling off. Report
Looking to buy a bathing suit in the next 2 months for a trip. Always concerned Report

Tough one for me too. Mmmmm, got to think about this. Report
Like many others here, I've not been in a bathing suit in many years. It would behoove me to get one for starting a water exercise. If I get a good one I would have to purchase it from Woman Within online. Stores now consider the middle of July the end of the season which is odd due to the fact we have until mid-September before the end of Summer. Report
