I am overweight and have crepy skin, but, I still love going to the pool and the beach. Water exercises are much easier on your joints and you don't have to wipe sweat. I will continue to swim as long as my body allows me too. Report
Swimming? Outdoors I hope. Away from other people. Report

Swimming was one of my pleasures when I was young. Then the smell of chlorine in indoor pool areas made me sick. Outdoor pools are not open in cold climates. My vision got so bad, I had to give up going in the ocean because I would not be able to see the parking lot. My cataracts and astigmatism have been repaired. Now I have some conditions that make it risky to swim in the surf. I still carry a swim suit when we travel. No telling when I will be able to use it. I opt for more modest suits. Report

I'm 77 and don't wear a bathing suit because I don't want to get wet or go to the trouble of getting to a pool. If I wanted to, I would wear a suit and I have many years ago. I overcame the "way I look" by looking at other people in suits, men and women. You can ALWAYS find someone who looks worse than you.

Just smile... if someone is looking at your face they won't be looking at your body. Report
I am over weight have been most of my life I am in my 70's still trying to shed the weight and I have always included swimming in my life, I do not let other peoples judgement influence of what you should look like stop me from something I truly love doing. I was going to the pool 5 times a week then the pandemic happen every thing has changed they just reopen the pools after 3 months with all the new rules but I am still going 2 times a week and I will continue to swim until the day i die. Great advice! Thanks!! Report
Most people are too concerned with how they personally look rather than being concerned about how *I* look.

I am more comfortable at this age (66) than I was in my 30's, 40's o 50's.

Be healthy. That is what is important. Report
Many years ago when I was fat I didn't want to show off my body...then one day I asked myself "why not?" Why was I limiting my life and enjoyment and it wasn't as if no one could see I was overweight in my street clothes! Put on the suit and enjoyed the pool and the sun and never looked back.

Fast forward about 10 years and I am thin and probably more fit and at 70 there is plenty of wrinkled skin and so what! I feel great and getting to the pool is one of life's pleasures - especially this year when getting out with other people (safely!) is a blessing! Report
