i really need to drink more water. I constantly drink unsweetened hot tea, but I need to add more water to the mix. So, I'm joining this challenge

You can make it a great day or not. The choice is yours.

78 ounces yesterday. Won't get nearly that much today but I'm at 34 already so I shouldn't have any problem making it to 56.

I've been bad about water for a while but I have my nice glass 20 oz Lifefactory bottle with straw top and I at least am draining it once. I don't mind plain water and when I suck on water all day long it keeps me from snacking. I have multiple food allergies and intolerances, as well as IBS, and things are getting worse. Seems fats are issues now. But I have a severe maltodextrin intolerance and that stuff is in almost any thing powdered. I've never been able to do the flavored waters either, unknown why. Bottom line, and as witches, we are better off with the stuff made by Mother Nature, and avoiding the processed. I will get motivated to drink more.

I just really can't STAND the taste of plain water. So glad my body will tolerate Crystal Light and Mio! I've been doing pretty good at getting at least 55 oz a day - even on the weekends which are usually my downfall.

Well, I made the unpleasant discovery that my body will not tolerate too many flavorings in my water.Body rebelled yesterday. So it's back to plain water. Yes, I know it's better for me, but I really don't like it. Have to find some new ways to talk myself into this process.

Yes. I normally drink 18 cups of water. I feel so much better when I drink that much. And I imagine it will feel even better now in Vegas. I have no problem drinking a gallon of water a day ;)

18 cups in one day? Although that sounds like a lot it's probably not so outrages now that you are in Vegas. That climate is REALLY dry and you'll dehydrate faster than you realize, faster even than in Colorado. I'm going to have to go back to plain water as my system doesn't like too much of that Crustal Light. But I am back down to my pre-surgery weight, and I suspect that drinking all the liquids helped that process. We'll see if any other weight loss develops - it would be nice!

I've been doing pretty well at getting 10 cups of water in the last couple of days, so now I'm going to aim to get back up to my usual 18 cups now.

I'm still aiming for a minimum 64 ounces. Adding some Crystal Light has helped because I just can't stand to drink that much plain water. It does seem to have helped flush the fluids from surgery out of my system. Since I am not allowed to exercise yet I'm not doing much good on my usual routine but the water is one thing I can keep up with.

Well, my water has dropped to essentially nothing since I think Friday. Maybe Saturday. I don't remember exactly. I drank some water on the drive, but not much. I didn't want to be messing myself on that long drive. I still haven't gotten that much since we got here because it took me a couple of days to find the needed adapter thing for the faucet to put the PUR filter on so I could get some water and put it in the fridge. We also are out of money and just couldn't get bottled or anything. But the water filter is on and running now. I have cold water in the fridge now finally. That being said, since I have my interview today and it's been so many days since I've been able to drink more than a cup or two in a day, I'm going to start slowly today by aiming for 10 cups. I've already had 2 with my breakfast, so my goal is to get at least 8 more by the end of the day. I'm sure once I start getting that water in me, my swelling will disappear and the weight will drop off fast because I've been exercising so darned much...

I know what you mean - on days when I'm at work I can manage 64 oz 'cuz the bathroom is right here and I'm not moving around much, but on weekends or other days off? Who knows where I'll be! Will there be a bathroom close by? If there is will I have time to run off to it every half hour? Whew!

I haven't been posting too often but until today was getting in my 64 ounces. Too many interruptions today with telephone and visit from daughter. And I certainly couldn't entertain company and keep running to the bathroom as often as the 64 ounce routine requires!

My husband has joined me in the "more water" program and we give thanks daily that when we moved we insisted on buying a house with 2 bathrooms in it. Sometimes I think we will have an early worn spot or even hole in the carpet on the path where we traipse back and forth to the bathroom area. But the scale did budge a bit. I mentioned awhile back I seemed to drop a quick 3 pounds, then 2 of them came back on and laughed at me. But that second one dropped off a week ago, and the 3rd one is starting to peek at me now. It still might be the water; nothing else has really changed. We're going "over the pass" shopping tomorrow and will check in during the evening.

Sorry to have been MIA on this one. I have been getting a minimum of 48 ounces every day and usually 64 (I use 16 ounce cups). It's been frantic with errands and a doctor's appointment and I did want to be having to run for a bathroom at an awkward time. There is always that planning to do with the water!

I had 20 oz of Lipton Diet Green Tea, 25 - 30 oz of Crystal Light, 20 oz of plain old water so that gets me to a minimum of 65 oz yesterday!

I had only 2 of my water bottles today, so that was the minimum of 64 oz, plus the cup of water I had with breakfast this morning. But I had another couple glasses of water after I get home to try to help with my hands and legs swelling up like turkey sausages, so probably at about 30 oz short of what I normally do, but over the minimum SP says...

I've managed to get in between 48 and 64 ounces every day, mostly closer to 64. And I'm starting to drop another pound. Can it possibly be just the water? My eating hasn't changed. In fact, I had a little extra for dinner last night because we had a holiday dinner with my daughter. I've also started to eat Granny Smith apples, which I hate, but which I read are better for your gut flora and might help - might also help with the reflux I've had for years. Water and Granny Smiths? For real? I'll keep you posted.

Well, I've been doing good on water. I did 16 glasses Sunday and my 18 yesterday. Going for another 18 today. I have a ton of salt to flush out of my system. I had a royally bad day yesterday. My MIL, whom I also call a coworker, told me to leave an hour early yesterday cuz I was driving her insane. Came home and emotionally ate with 16 parmesan bites and a small pizza with a million olives from Dominos. I've been insanely pissy. I'm sure part of it is the pills the doc gave me to get the show on the road after not having a show in 6 months. The rest of it is me just being angry at the world and my circumstances of being forced to work a job I despise for almost 5 years minus the 5 months I did manage to leave to try another job that turned out to be even worse. I got death threats at that one. People are psychotic when it comes to money and that just blows my mind since money has absolutely no value, just our faith that it has value. Grrrr. I don't know. Please send positive vibes my way, guys. I need it. I'm slowly losing my mind. Hubby is trying to get a transfer with his company out to Vegas so we can finally move and we can both get the fresh start that we so desire, and quite frankly deserve. I'm trying to be positive, but it feels like every time I try, the world beats me down again and says "Nuh uh. No you don't." emoticon But I'm still trying. *fingers crossed*

Well, if you drink enough water to flush out the ice cream you'll have to run to the bathroom a lot, which will increase your exercise! LOL Seriously, enjoy the memories of the ice cream, don't buy any more of it so it's not in the house calling to you, and then get back on track. We have been eating corn on the cob, one ear each per day, with butter and salt. Calories are still in range, but the salt makes my body hold water. It's been 2 weeks now and there is one more set of 2 ears for us for today. Then I won't buy any more. But this has been special corn, grown in Olathe, Colorado, on the western slope near the Utah border. There is a fabulous growing region over there - corn, peaches, apples, grapes (incredible wine I'm told - I don't drink because it creates migraines) and when we lived in Colorado we had this fabulous produce every year. Here in Oregon we get fresh fruits and veggies from northern California, Oregon, and Washington. Most of the time they are really good. But this was Colorado corn, and it was every bit as extra good as we remembered. But now that treat time is over. And even in spite of that corn and salt (not much butter) the scale has finally started to budge. A pound a week for 2 weeks straight. Up until now I haven't been able to budge that scale more than 1 pound every 2 to 3 months, if that much. Even when I've been really good about everything else. I had no idea how much difference the water would make.

So let me encourage everybody (yes, preaching to the choir) to get after the water. I will be most curious to see what happens after we quit with the corn. I'll keep you posted.

Well, I got in my 18 glasses yesterday. And on Friday. Thank you for the support, Shadow! I haven't been good on food, but I've never been really good with food when there's ice cream in the house. Darned welcome home party. At least hubby took it upon himself to finish his cake after I'd only had one piece...........I don't know what I'm going to do with him. Lol. He's just as bad as me, if not worse. But together, we make a formidable team. He'll eat the cake and I'll devour the ice cream....

Evon, I'm right there with you. It's coming up on lunch time and I've barely got 6 ounces in - then got distracted doing an astrology reading for a lady. Got out my DVD player for a workout and haven't gotten to that either. Of course, I haven't gotten out of my robe into regular clothes, either. Too busy. Hubby will be home in a couple hours. EEK! Gotta run, More later.

I didn't have much water yesterday at all. And to top it off, I drank. I know, I know. Super bad. I was too busy wanting to celebrate hubby's return home from working for 2 weeks in Vegas and for having such a bad night the night before to really want to care. Also went over my calories by a ridiculous amount. I didn't track anything, but I know it was bad. But, again, I was celebrating and didn't care. But it's a new day and I'm going to try to get back on track, at least concerning food and water. I'm not going to worry about exercise until next week because my sleep schedule is a bit skewed right now, too. I know exercise will help, but I'm in a constant state of exhaustion as it is and would rather sleep for now.

9/3----not sure what i drank...i didnt mark it down yesterday so i am guessing about 48+oz or more. think i will rubber band my glass, each empty glass gets a rubber band on it to let me know what i drank...at least i am becoming more mindful to "get my water in".

I'm up to 48 ounces and it's just after 2:00 p.m. My goal is to have my water completed (64 ounces) pretty much by dinner time so there is time for it to "pass thru" so to speak before bedtime. So far it's not making any particular difference with getting my weight to drop or even my ankles to quit swelling.

9/2: on top of the 24 ounces this morning I had 2 of those large glassfuls I mentioned. So 32 plus 24 is 56. I will have supplements to take tonight, so that will get me 16 ounces more. Good grief, that's 72 ounces. Let's see if that helps move the scale any!

Well, here it is a new day. I started my day with about 12 oz of water while taking a dose of psyllium fiber - the Kroger brand of Metamucil. I understand that water will count even if mixed with something. So it's a start. I also have some Crystal Light "sticks" which are measured packets of low-cal water flavoring. Three of the four flavors do not have caffeine. And each one makes 2 servings or one large glassful (16 oz). I can't get all my water that way, because the calories will add up. But one at lunch is a reasonable calorie treat and 1/4 of my water. Between that and the fiber I'm more than halfway to the theoretically recommended daily amount. Maybe this won't be so hard after all!

Depression is anger without the motivation.

I think depression runs rampant in society today because we are all so obsessed with making a living instead of living our lives.

Live your dreams, it's not as hard as it may seem...On your hopes you must lean...From your fears you have to wean yourself.

hi all...i am really going to try and make a conscious act of getting in my water for the day, not in excess, just a reasonable amount to offset dehydration, a problem i have because i am not aware of how much water i need, or the amount i am drinking until the day is over and it is to late. off to have me a cup of water!

That's what I was worried about, Sage. Both my parents have diabetes. I think one of my brothers does, too. But, I'm surprisingly okay. My sugars are very normal. And yesterday, after years of being told I have PCOS, I was diagnosed as clear. All of my tests came back fine. So, I guess I don't have PCOS after all. It seems my only issues are depression, Factor 5 blood clotting, migraines, and obesity. All of which would either be better controlled or cured completely if I just dropped the weight. Easier said than done, though. My depression gets in the way more often than not....

Having lived in Colorado for 47 years I know Colorado can pose some challenges. The dry air evaporates the sweat off your skin so you don't realize you are sweating, and the sun is so direct that it also creates body heat you don't realize you are generating. If you are outdoors at all during the day that whole scenario intensifies. When my son was growing up he drank water in the quantities you mention. I don't know the rest of your health situation, but I do know that excessive thirst can also be an indicator of diabetes. Depending on what you have already checked healthwise that might be something to keep in mind.

I'm in Colorado, but I wouldn't mind being in Oregon right now ;). It's mountain standard time, so just after 6 pm. I've gotten my 120 oz again. The only way I do it without completely overwhelming myself is I carry 4-30oz bottles with me every day. I take two large mouthful drinks every 15 minutes, or a bottle every 2 hours. I also have an extra glass of water with my breakfast just because your body needs water when you get up. So, that's about 18 glasses for me a day. Needless to say, I start early. I have breakfast around 645 am and I start on my water bottles around 815 and am done at 4. I know all that sounds ridiculously OCD, but it works. I wasn't getting enough water with just the 2 bottles a day because I was still always thirsty. It doesn't help that I sweat a lot. So, I ended up doubling it and I feel lots better. So yeah. That's how I manage to get all of that in in one day....

Amen to not wanting to be wakened by that kind of pressure. By the way, where in the world are you? I'm on another team where we span from Scotland in the UK to Oregon in the USA (that's me) with a majority being in the eastern US. Sometimes it's easier to understand someone's thoughts if you know they are just getting up or have had a rough day or whatever.

So I'll start. I'm the one in Oregon, on Pacific Time. So I am now at about 36 ounces with plenty of time left today to get to 64. In fact, I think I'll go do that now.

It's 1:20 in the afternoon and I'm at about 50 oz. I'm pretty sure I'll make it to 56 before the end of the day. I pretty much stay between 56 and 64 - occasionally over, occasionally under but most of the time I'm in that range.

I get about 64oz if I count the black coffee I drink each day.

i read somewhere that you have to be careful in the amount of water you drink, if you are not use to drinking large amounts, it can be dangerous to try and do it. that is a lot of water, 64oz is the max for me...i usually go with about 32-40oz a day.
seems we are all doing well on our water challenge emoticon

Tiffany, that's quite an accomplishment. If I tried that I would have to live in the bathroom! Even 64 ounces is a stretch!

Working on it. I got sidetracked having to go over the hill to Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage. (Those are great folks by the way, if you have one near you.) I was out of a ton of supplements and have to fill up a pill pack for hubby's trip this week. Anyway, that was 3+ hours and I didn't date drink any for an hour before I left or I'd have been in trouble on the road (35 miles each way). But it's earlier here in Oregon, so I'm still working on it. 24 down and as many to go as I can work in.
