How do you use Lavender? Aug herb discussion

Just remember your lavender "fence" has to very dense to really do the trick, I also discovered mice & rats hates pepermint and moles can't stand garlic, planing and planting your garden with this in mind will pay off. Good luck!!! LOL wish I can find a plant to keep spiders away!

Oh my goodness, I have to go get some lavender oil and plants. The plants to keep the rattle snakes at bay! I will plant them outside our fence so hopefully the snakes will take a detour!

I use it in essential oil form and sprinkle about 8 drops on it on my pillow at nite as I am trying to unwind, I find it relaxing.

Skin loves lavender, I'm allways amazed by how fast lavender oil is absorbed~Great for wrinkles too!

For burns. It's a miracle.
A man in a lab burnt his whole hand and in a panic dipped it in a big pot of lavender oil. He suffered no damage!
I've always rememberd this and lavender is the first thing I reach for when I burn. Put it on neat. If the burn is really bad keep adding the oil as it dries. I did this with a bad burn to my face once for about an hour and I had no scarring whatsoever. The bit I missed at the top of my forehead was red and scabby for ages!

I like it in bubble bath or as a perfume scent.

Good tip Wolfspirits! I simply adore Lavender and my growing collection of essential oils. I use Lavender just about everyday for something or the other, like yesterday I felt a bit chesty and stuffy at work, out comes the lavender, rubbed a drop on my chest and under my nose and eureka it worked!
A couple of years ago I had my first and only panic attack after seeing new clients, had no idea what the heck was up with me but managed to stop at a Health shop and bought lavender oil, a couple of sniffs later I could drive myself home,lol!(sounds funny but trust me it was scary)

Lavender Oil - Keep in Your Medicine Chest at Home

Lavender essential oil has so many medicinal uses. When combined with massage, the scent reduces anxiety, fatigue, and stress, and it balances hormones, increases immune response, lowers blood pressure and relieves pain.

A drop helps to take the sting out of insect bites and minor burns. Massage with lavender to help blisters to heal. Inhalation and massage of the sternum using lavender help hiccups.

For massage, mix 5 - 10 drops with 30ml of jojoba oil or unscented lotion.

For earache apply a drop of the massage oil behind the ear and rub gently. Or you can put 1 drop of lavender oil on a cotton ball and put in the outer ear.

Add a few drops of lavender oil to warm water and inhale for relief from a headache. Or rub the massage lotion on the temples, forehead and base of the neck.

Lavender oil can also assist in breaking up coughs and clearing sinuses.

To avoid catching infectious diseases in the home, add a few drops of lavender oil to a vapouriser - it has antiseptic properties

Where to start.....The plant, I have lavender all over my garden, great for keeping snakes away, yes you heard me, snakes! Stunning plant and drought resistant, picking flowers and hanging it in the windows during summer will keep flies away.
Flowers in salads and biscuits are lovely or even as decorations on the plate. In a vase in the kitchen, crushed leaves in the barbecue fire, crushed flowers between bedding...the list is endless.
Love the essential oils, I can't sleep if my room doesn't smell of lavender,LOL! I even put some on my dog's collar to keep fleas and flies away.

I heard peppermint is good for weght loss. I haven't tried it for awhile.

I love the smell! I pick the flowers, dry and sprinkle in my clothes drawers and I use the essential oil added to honey because I'm to cheap to buy lavender honey after I tried it one time and loved it. I put the essential oil a few drops in the tub when I shower for the scent. Probably haven't given it the attention it deserves but I bought my own plant this year so maybe in future I will do more.

Hey guys...... so, how do *you* use lavender?

For me, I love the essential oil. I have used it many, many times for its calming effect. For example, when my son was having a tough go of it with nighmares, I would put a few drops on a cotton ball and put it by his pillow and it worked very well.

I also use it topically in the MyGrastick when I get headaches. I love the smell!!
