OK, time to close out this challenge and onto the next one. First of all, let me say, all I do is organize it. You all put in the work, so don't thank me for your success!
Joann - Great job!
Pam - Wow! Fantastic job!
Donna - 12 lbs down. Way to go!
Chris - Great job, another lb down and finishing down for the challenge overall!
Brenaba - Hope you are feeling better and great job! I think that jump up in the weight was just the sodium!
JaneAtt - You and I both need focus for this next challenge!
KathCart - Great job and the next challenge is already in progress. Be sure to join us!
Jeanne - Great job on your maintenance and sorry to to hear the update on your latest appointment with your fracture and osteopenia. Hopefully the next assessments and course of treatment will get things on the road to recovery!
GetFitAbby - Way to finish out the challenge!
Sherri - Great job on the challenge! Glad you can get back on the treadmill and yes, holding on is not a good thing. Also glad your daughter is exercising and that you found alternate ways to work out.
Nancy - You ended up down for the challenge and every lb counts!

Sherri, you did kick butt!! emoticon

Me, not so much! At least I'm down overall and I do plan to continue on with the next challenge. Apparently my eating was worse this week - I really do need to start tracking. I've been resisting that... My exercise was good for the week and I'm off to the beaches today; I collect samples for water quality testing at 4 local beaches - lots of walking!

Yesssss....... 2 more pounds!
Whatever I'm doing it's working and I'm not going to stop!

Went to the MD on Friday and found out that I can go back on my treadmill with my brace on and take it slow. GOOD news! Even better news was when I weighed myself! emoticon

I think there were a few reasons that I now have ankle issues was on hold with my treadmill. 1. ( and most important) I found other ways to keep moving without walking - weights, stretching and general exercising! and 2. We now have an elliptical machine and 3. My daughter has joined me on occasion to keep me motivated which in turn has made her exercise! It's ALL good!!!

Down half a pound this week for a total of 5 pounds for the challenge. My challenge to myself is to lose more in the next challenge! And it might have gotten easier for me to get more exercise because when I went to start the riding lawn mower yesterday, it wouldn't start! So now I get to mow 2 - 3 acres with my push mower until I figure out what's wrong with the big mower. It creates lots of steps on my fitbit when I use the push mower. Have a great week!

Well this is the last day right? Congratulations everyone for all the hard work and the pay off! Even if we backslide a little it is still going forward! Forming new habits isn't always easy. The key is to make them a habit! 15 pounds for me this challenge. I have eighteen pounds to go. A little nervous about it for the long haul. But I must say, this go round, I have a much different mind set. My eating is really so much more healthy than when I deprived myself to reach goals in the past. No deprivation, following the guidelines for proper nutrition in line with SP recommendations. Lot's of reading on nutrition, making smart and personal choices. Not just believing the hype!

Kathleen you are a brave soul to take a cat and a dog for the car ride....fortunately all of my dogs love to ride and for the most part are good riders...I hope all goes well for you...my cat I had as a kid howled in the car....when we moved to Dayton from St. Louis he rode in the car with me and I just played music and kept his crate in the front seat by me and he was fine....Good luck, keep us posted!

Kathleen,
This is a carrier I am thinking of getting for my Stella - it has some good reviews. This way they are not confined and you can hook it to the seat belt. It is called Cat-in-the-Bag.

I have not tried it personally yet, but I am thinking of getting it. Stella just cries in the carrier.

Well ladies--My Mittzy emoticon refused to get into the crate this morning but I took a nice long ride with Copper emoticon and she is doing great! I may have to get the vet to give me some drugs for her??? I will just keep trying until then!
I ordered a cat haven for up in CT just in case the cats there and Mittzy do not get along--and did that before she refused to get in the crate! I may try to use the dog crate in the car maybe that will not have any bad Vet memories for her!

Kathleen - a few practice rides with Mitzy in the carrier would be a great idea!

Jane - I'm not Tri expert, but happy to share advice and lessons learned for me for next time. I was not a strong swimmer at all and I really focused on my swimming (hadn't swam laps since high school!). So I spent a lot of time there and really didn't work on getting everything together. I didn't do a lot of bike riding and really should have spent more time going from the ride to the run and doing a brick - which is the swim/bike/run all together. Next time! I'm going to keep up with my swimming and next time I'll do a little more scheduled training with all 3 elements. Setting up your transition area is another thing all together! If you do a Tri, reach out to me and I'll provide some advice!

Hydie - keep up the great work!

Thanks everyone! emoticon

I decided to take both Mittzy and Copper on my trip to CT! Just couldn't bear to leave one behind! So I will be crating Mittzy and taking her and Copper for some long rides around the area until I think I can make the trip without any ---well without too much stress! It will be a 2 day drive with a hotel stop on the way or maybe 2 if it gets hairy--lol!

I did learn my ice cream lesson and I am back on track again. Not sure why I tried that experiment--probably cravings got the best of me??

Jean--thanks for the site I will take a look there too! Every little bit helps!

Kathleen,

You commented about training your brain and I immediately thought of SparkMemmber SLENDERELLA61. Other SparkMembers have referred to her as the "Queen of Beck" in reference to the Beck books.

You might want to take a look at some of her blogs. She has blogged through several books written by Beck. Here's a link to one of her blogs

Noreen you are great, thanks for all the encouragement and please share you triathlon training tips with me...

Ellen, night time eating can be a challenge...one of my main rules for eating is that I cannot eat after 7 o'clock....now that can change depending on your bed time....I get up at 3 a.m. so I am in bed by 8. I also try to eat filling food at night but not heavy food, so a lot of salads, or veggies, and moderate protein.

emoticon I fell into a tub of ice cream--purchased with confidence that I could portion it out and not binge on it! OBVIOUSLY it did not happen that way--DROPPED RIGHT BACK INTO MY OLD HABITS! emoticon

Today I try to flush it all out of me--sorry emoticon One has to wonder why it is so easy to jump ahead and fall back so easily. I guess getting cocky and thinking I have a handle on it is really deceiving myself--refocusing again again again! There has to be a way to convince my brain it is the wrong idea! I would like to blame it on PMS or something but I am too old for that excuse--lol!

Upset with myself but not discouraged--I have proven I can do this! Just let it be consistent Please! emoticon

I also struggle with evening eating... right now, I'm trying to develop a "bedtime ritual" - reading with a cup of tea before going to bed. Part of my evening eating problem is that I stay up waaay too late and then fill some of the time eating. So I'm hoping the tea & reading will signal to me that it's bedtime.

The evening eating... etc. team Sherry mentioned is located here:

Ellen,
Welcome! Congrats on your first week. We are wrapping up this challenge this weekend, but starting a new one. I hope you join us. Evening snacking can be a tough one. I'm sure people have ideas! I tend to eat dinner later, so it is usually not an issue for me. But what about a cup of tea or a distraction of some sort?

I seem to have "issues" with night time eating (my weakness). Can anyone relate?

Happy Tuesday everyone! I did the elliptical yesterday and my trainer took it easy on me today, mostly core work. Yesterday, my hubby and I did a "soup cleanse" that we picked up a local grocery store. There were 6 different soups that we had two hours apart. Thought we would give it a try and then just drank water in between. Nothing too crazy, just lots of fruits and veggies pureed in the soups and most tasted OK.

Nancy - Hang in there - you are down overall for the challenge and that is an accomplishment to be proud of. Finish strong and on to next one.We all have good days and bad days, that is life in general!
Brenaba - Chicago and all those tempting restaurants! But don't forget about all the sodium in that food. Drink your water and get back on track and I bet that weight will drop quickly. Remember, a lb is 3500 calories. I know you did not eat that much!
JeanKnee - you are doing amazing with your maintenance especially in light of being limited in your exercise. You are an inspiration to us all and showing us all we can do this! Hope you heal quickly!
Jane - That ride on the Katy Trail sounds fantastic! I sure would opt for a comfy bed and a beer too! I'm not much of a camper. I would definitely recommend a Tri and I'm already thinking about my training for the next one and how I can improve my training and my time. But next is building up my mileage base to get ready for half marathon training.
Hydie - finish strong! You have been doing great this challenge!
Sherry - Next challenge - more streaks! Focus, focus, focus!
Last week for this challenge and on to the next!

No loss, no gain, stayed the same. So I lost a total of 26.2 pounds from Jan. 13th and I am well pleased. Will be traveling at the end of the month so IF there is another challenge I will be entering in late.

Kathleen, If the cat is used to traveling in the carrier it will do just fine. We moved from Iowa to Oregon with a cat. No problems and was more then a 2 day trip. I would suggest with both dog and cat to limit the food and water intake to a little here and there.

Noreen, thank you again for your encouragement to all of us...Congratulations on the triathlon. That is on my list to do and hoping that I will accomplish that in 2016. One of my friends and I are cycling the Katy Trail next year which is 265 miles. We are doing it across a 5 day period, so I can imagine we will be exhausted by the end of the week, but we have decided that every night we have to sleep in hotel or bed and breakfast, and have at least one beer.....lol....

I am looking forward to your next challenge.

Thanks for putting these together!

Kathleen,

Your encouragement is appreciated. Yeah, it has been extremely important for me to stick to my nutrition plan given my inability to move right now. I worked hard to improve my health and fitness and get the weight off. Once the injury heals I have confidence that I will get back into some fitness routine that supports my health. I do not want to have to work on taking off weight that had already been lost too. So, adherence to nutrition it is ...

Wishing all of you a strong finish!

So, I went to Chicago with friends this past weekend. Even though I was constantly on the go and did quite a bit of walking, I guess I had a bit too much Italian food and a few too many lattes. Hopefully, this week I can lose what I gained.

Wrong direction this week... so much for using last week's loss as motivation. emoticon
Actually did reasonably well all week except for one night a couple of nights ago. Had the worst evening binging I've had in a very long time. I probably consumed AT LEAST a day's worth of calories after dinner.

So I wondered whether I'm even taking this challenge seriously, but without it, I might well be gaining overall and I have lost overall. I could definitely be more committed - I have been in the past. I could do better, and hope to soon. I will continue with the next challenge when it starts and hope to improve!

Someone mentioned needing to be more consistent - me too, in both exercise & eating.

Wow, Monday again! Sorry I did not check in over the weekend. It was busy with check-in and prepping for the Sprint Triathlon and yesterday Sprint Triathlon! I did it! It was tough, but I can check that off my list. It rained in the morning, but no lightening, so it was a go! A half mile swim, 13.3 mile bike ride and a 5k run - mostly walk for me by then - I was tired! Enough about me.

Sherri - Yowza is right! You are doing so great!
Joann - Yes, some days are harder than others. But you are doing great, just hang in there.
Kathleen - You are doing well too! Sorry, no advice about traveling with a cat. Ours hates the car and we either leave her at home or send her with my in-laws.
GetFitAbby - Way to go! You are doing fantastic!
Jane - 17 lbs in 7 weeks is fantastic progress! Good luck with your training. I know when I was training for my half marathon it was always tough to figure out how much to eat vs. what I was burning. You would think you would lose every week you are training but it does not work that way.
Pam - down 3 lbs! Woo hoo!
Donna - down 13 for the challenge! Way to go!
Chris - hope the swelling goes down in your ankles and you are out walking again. The hot weather makes it tough!

One more week on this challenge, lets finish strong and I'll get the next challenge set up!

Didn't write down weight on June 7, and then was gone all week at a conference, where the food and drink helped raise the scale number. Oh, gosh. I really do need to start a definite streak of doing good for myself. Would like to have started this streak before the next challenge begins, so I guess that's now.

JEANKNEE--so sorry to hear about your medical issues! I am sure you will figure out another plan that will work for you. Listen to your body !

I want to drive up to CT to see my Daughters new home and my Grandson's and his wife's (my new grand daughter) new home. But now I have Mittzy(my cat) and Copper (my rescue dog who is almost 1 yr old) Mittzy has always been in a crate in the car and Copper always free in the backseat. Both have been good individually but I have not tried them together yet.
I am really not sure how to travel a cat at all--any suggestions? I really would feel bad to kennel either of them but if I did it would be Mittzy as I know how to travel a dog! Actually had 2 pugs last time I went to CT. It will be a 2 day trip with one overnight stay in a pet friendly hotel.
ANY SUGGESTIONS OR EXPERIENCES ARE WELCOME!

Up half a pound this week today. I'm good with that. My weight has been up and down all week long. I need to get more consistency in my life. I'm trying to get back on track by going to bed earlier, eating correctly and getting in some exercise every day. Some days it's just a lot harder than others!

Have a great week everybody!

No change on the scale this week, which did not shock me, nor am I upset....While I have had a great week of fitness, the food quantity has been a challenge. I am still down 17 pounds in 7 weeks so this is still a positive. Off today to do some cycling....gearing up for tour de corn which is 65 miles in 2 weeks and the MS 150 which is obviously 150 miles in 2 days the first week of September....have a great day everyone!

Good Morning Team! emoticon progress everyone! emoticon
I was worried when my scale popped up but have managed to get it right back down emoticon Still .6 to get down to last weeks weigh in but down from that almost 180 again quick as it went up emoticon

I am going to pump up my trike tires and see if I can start getting in an early ride to beat the heat until the body gets used to it again!

Also have to start taking my furbabies for car rides to see if they will be able to handle my driving up to CT the see my Daughter and grandsons new homes! I do hate leaving them behind so this will help me decide to drive or fly.

Go Team emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Stayed the same this week. I count that as a plus since I didn't gain anything back. Not walking as much thanks to swollen ankles and hot weather. Will keep working at it.

We have our elliptical all set up and I tried it out yesterday. I have to say it will definitely KICK my butt!!! emoticon YOWZA! I lasted about 10 minutes and took a break in between. emoticon

I need to take it slow and build up my endurance the same way I did on the treadmill. Slow and steady at first and then build from there. emoticon

I have a follow-up appointment with my MD next Friday. Hopefully some good news so I can really start working out on this monster! emoticon

I am definitely in for another challenge Noreen. These challenges help keep me motivated, on track, and accountable. I may not be losing the weight as fast as I want, but I am losing it. That's what counts the most.

Okay, not a stellar week, but did not gain. Down 4/10ths of a pound.....so New weight is
190.0.....5 more pounds to goal #1 or 185! Then on to goal #2 of finally weight of 175.
I find setting small goals and reaching them is the key to my weight loss. If I had seen I had to lose 50 pounds I would never do it, I know me. Small goals, doable goals is what works for me.

I can do this, slow and easy is the way!

Not sure how it happened this week, but I'm down almost 2 pounds! I missed a few days of exercise and did not do at all well with controlling the evening snacking... I hope I can take this unexpected gift and use it as motivation for this next week!

Yes - there will be another challenge to get us through the Summer and into the Fall! As long as people are interested I'll keep them going!

Wow - such great results here - way to go - Terri, Pam, LinWinAgain, Joann, Mom, GetFitAbby, Kathleen, JaneAtt, Sherri and KathCart! Great to see those numbers going down and whether it is a lb or two or just a few ounces - a loss is a loss. Keep up the great work!

I was not as active as I would have hoped, my Girls on the Run 5k was called due to lightening. I did get over 10,000 steps in for the day but mostly just walking around. Saturday I was pretty active and did get some high intensity activity in. However, last night my hubby wanted to order Chinese food and I talked him into cooking a healthier lower calorie option at home!
Happy Monday!

I think I skipped 2 weigh-ins. Not sure, but I scrolled back through the posts until I found one from me, and this is what I came up with. I have had a few weeks with lots of travel, so I knew I had missed at least one. I forgot to put my weight down yesterday, and can't remember what it was, so I'm posting today's weight instead. I can't believe we only have 2 weigh-ins left. This challenge has really helped me to stay focused. I'm slow, but I'm still going in the right direction. So, to whoever organized it, THANK YOU!!

It's not much but I'll take -0.6 pounds!
It's been a rough week for me mentally as well as physically (ankle issue). I have still kept on track with my eating and did find ways to work out my upper body and some leg lowers and stretching. MD said to stay off treadmill, which totally sucked! But I did ask him about using an elliptical and he said after my ankle heals it shouldn't be an issue. Hubby and I decided to invest in one, which I'm excited about!
(Me? Excited about exercise equipment? Go figure! I busted my butt this weekend to make room for it!!)

Had a bump in the road but I'm still keeping my positive attitude and finding ways to keep moving!

WOW! Look at all the great progress here! I love when so many post to name them all!
Joann--I have a Fitbit too--just remember it still counts your steps even though it is not put in the intense workout variety! You could always add it in as exercise.
You are all doing so well!! Everyone be very proud!!!

Down a pound for this week. Have to keep going in that direction. That makes a total of 5 pounds down for this challenge.

I never did find my Spark Activity Tracker so I stopped at Target on Monday after work and picked up a Fitbit Flex. So far it's working well for me. It keeps track of the steps and my sleep. That's some pretty interesting information! It just doesn't track my treadmill walking like the Spark Activity Tracker did. Apparently I'm not working hard enough on the treadmill for the fitbit to think it's exercise! I know I've read other places on Sparkpeople that Fitbit changed some things before I purchased mine that make those activities not necessarily track correctly. There's always manual tracking!

Have a great week everyone!

Joann

3 day of Chinese food, but I did not gain any more after last week. I also added 3 days of exercise. Total loss 6 pounds in 14 weeks. Hoping that now I've identified the biggest trigger, being around smokers, I can choose to avoid the overeating.
