I do some shopping online if it makes sense financially or it is something I cannot get locally. Living in SW FL and my Mom, siblings, nieces & nephew living in WI it does make it convenient to shop online and have it ship directly to them.

So far this year I have bought my daughter's big gift and will today be getting my son's.

Wow, a lot of you do shop online, thanks for the great ideas everyone.
I did purchase a present for my mom through ebay, so I hope it comes with the 5 days like he said.

Wendy - I had my "debit card number" stolen and our bank caught that within 2 days because they were making the transactions in "Brazil" of all places I haven't been to many states let alone out of the country. I asked her how this happened and she said; they get your numbers either at a store or restaurant you've shopped, hack in to the system and make "fake cards" with your number on them, then use them until the banks catch it and just go on to the next and the next. She said these people won't even get caught, never caught overseas and only once in awhile here, sad isn't it, sad they don't even have to pay for their crimes. Thank goodness our bank covered it, imagine if it wasn't, they stole $1500.00 from us total, even 1 of the transactions was at a McDonald's in Brazil, geez.

I buy most of my stuff online. Like a lot of other people I hate crowded stores. I've never really had any problems but then I refuse to buy from places that I've never heard of before. Or if there is something I HAVE to have then I'll research the seller first.

My common online stores are:
Amazon
Overstock.com (had a shipping issue w/them once, but they credited my account back instantly, and their customer service people were friendly and helpful.)
DiscountDance.Com
DiscountAnimeDVD.com
Ebay
Walmart.com
Borders.com
Half.com

I buy online allot.

I never had any problems until last week. I was booking airline tickets and someone compromised our credit card.

Thank God we have a Merrill Lynch card and they caught it within 2 transactions. Very HAPPY!!!! they did.

BUT

nowadays it can happen anywhere.

So make sure you watch your transactions. (ONLINE) is the easiest. If it dosn't look right call your credit card company right away.

Good luck
Wendy

My Goal is see every state in the US. Currently at 44.

My personal preference is www.fontaninistore.com/ This is where I work. emoticon

If you call in with questions, it's highly likely you will talk to me.

I do like to buy stuff on line because I HATE going into stores at this time of year. People can be so grumpy, pushing, shoving and down right rude. My husband and I have both worked retail and there are days where we just wanted to slap people because they were so horrible.

I shop on line all the time. Have had no problems with Ebay, but Amazon is my favorite....free shipping on orders of $25 and above. I hate crowds, noise, and waiting in line at the stores...on line is the way to go!

I shop online too.
Ebay is great but you want a seller who has done many transactions... like in the thousands is good.

Also, I love to use Amazon.com.
You can purchase used items there too. Some of my husband's text books from college were only a penny plus shipping! Can't beat that.

This year I have done almost all of my shopping online. Have done a lot of it online the past few years and never had a problem with anything. Saves money, time and you don't have to fight crazy crowds, full parking lots or snowy roads. Sometimes the online coupons and free shipping end up saving you a ton of money. You just have to make sure you use reliable and secure sites. Someone mentioned the Walmart site and I agree it is really good. DH ordered a digital camera that they had in the store and it was $20 less online, no shipping costs and we could pick it up at Walmart whenever we were there. I have to do "real" shopping for a few things and I am not looking forward to it much. Getting spoiled!

I do gift, clothing, housewares, books, cards - you name it, I will buy it online. I too shop around, wait for the free shipping, etc. I've never had any problems either.

Yes I do lots of shopping online during the holidays and other times. It certainly saves on gas since I live at least 60 miles away from the nearest mall.

It all depends on what you are looking for... ebay is good for deals but make sure to check around to know that it is a deal.

I also like amazon, its not just for books and electronics.

If you use google check out the shopping link, you can get price comparisons on one page.

You can buy anything online now ---

even WAL*Mart has a service called ~Site to Store~

--- you just go to Wal*Mart.com & find what you want --- they ship your purchases free of charge to the Wal*Mart of your choice & they have tons of merchandise online that they don't carry in the store

I just got the BEST deal on something my little one wanted for Christmas!!!

She had checked out a ~Junie B. Jones~ book from the library & fell in love with them --- there are 27 books in the series so far I think

She put them at the top of her Christmas list & I checked the book stores --- but they were $7.99 a piece so it would come to like $215 before tax!!!

--- Ummmm NO WAY!!!

so anyway --- I checked out ebay --- & got the entire set still shrink wrapped for $28 + $4 S&H!!!!!!

Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.

Yup!
I bought calendars yesterday, free shipping of course.
I use my CC and have never had a problem, I wouldn't use my debit EVER. I heard a few stries on that.
good luck and Merry Christmas.

YUP I buy a lot online! In fact thats how I got my first computer years ago. I told DH its a scary world out there shopping from Nov-Dec would be so nice to get a computer and do it online. So that was our gift to each other that year was the computer. Since then I do about 75% of Christmas shopping online.

The great thing about online shopping is you can be in your pjs at midnight with different browsers open be at as many different stores comparing prices. Saves gas too!I generally look for the stores that offer free shipping but yet calculate to make sure its still cheaper then a store with lower cost on the item but has shipping.
I also like shopping online because I can get Upromise savings through some stores....also there is Live.com where you can get cash back on your purchases I am set up but have not done that yet since I seem to find the item cheaper at other places.
Good Luck and enjoy it! No lines, No gas, and better comparison shopping.

And if so, where do you find the "good deals", have you had bad experiences or good, is it better than shopping at the busy stores, etc.?

I'm looking for a few items I haven't found in stores but don't usually purchase items online, hubby has but I think he researches it out first.

Any thoughts?
