Way to go Amylynn. Baby steps are great. I just finished w3 d3. I really struggled with this week for the first 2 days. Today doing it for the 3rd time I got through it a little easier and was able to add my extra min onto the last run that I've been trying to do. So I ran 4 minutes straight! WooHoo!!!!!!!! I love the accomplishment of running longer and what changes it's doing to my body. Yeah!

Have a great weekend!!

So I guess I was really out of shape! For the first three sessions of Week 1, I wasn't able to complete the entire workout. Each session would be just a little easier and I would be able to add just one more minute of running. It was kind of "pre-week 1".

This morning (workout #4) I completed the full Week 1 workout for the first time. I'm now officially on Week 1. Baby steps...

I will say this is making me feel great so far, energetic, I breathe better, just feel better overall. Loving it!

I agree about week 4. I just did day 1 of week 3. That was tough but, I did alot of exercise last night and I know we aren't suppost to do the runs 2 days in a row. I'm hoping that is why it felt so hard. On Wednesday I hope it will be easier. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I am now doing C25K and SP boot camp together. So far so good. I am repeating Week 1 of C25K to strengthen my legs a little more and to prepare my shins for the longer runs. I'm really eager to be a month further away from what I am now when I can actually run for longer distances without my shin splints. Oh, that will be so nice!

Spark it up!

I'm finishing Week 2 this morning. But I think I'll do one more week repeat. It's gotten easier, but I'm not quite ready to step up to the next level yet.

I am in shock, but today is the day I am scheduled to run for 30 minutes for the first time. Ahhhh!!

I'm nervous, even though it's only two minutes longer than than I ran last week and as I've told myself often throughout this program "Two minutes is nothing. NOTHING! You can do this."

I'm running at a 14-15 minute pace, which is a little scary, as I'm not sure I'll be able to run for 45 minutes straight, but we'll see how it goes after I finish this week. I'll have two more weeks before the 5K, so I'll just keep running longer and farther everyday.

You can do it, OUBACHE!!! I just finished week one last night. I've been adding on the extra minute to the end of my last time to run from last weeks challenge. I ran 2 minutes straight! If I can do it, you can do it!! If you have to do one of the weeks, two weeks in a row to build up strenth, do it. What ever it takes to keep striving for your goal!!!

Ack! I was on to week 2 last week, and did the Day 1 workout... and then let a crazy week get in the way of doing days 2 and 3. NOT THIS WEEK! I will complete week 2!

W1D2 DONE! It was a little rougher than W1D1..mostly because my legs and joints were a little sore from W1D1 and my kickboxing last night. I just got back from vacation, during which I did no exercise aside from walking around towns... so my body is a little tight. I am sure by next week I will have loosened up again.

I am using the 8 week version from Personal Running Trainer, so the timing of running to walking is a bit different than the real C25K... but it all counts, right!

I just got done with week 5- I still can't believe that I ran 20 minutes straight. I wasn't sure if I could do it, but I knocked 10 minutes down- then 15 and by then I just geared up and got the last 5 done! 20 minutes! That feels awesome!!

Hi team,

I have been running laps around my house:) I have been increasing the laps everyday. When I started two weeks ago I ran 30 and today I ran 50. I run for about 10 minutes, walk, go inside for a wile, go back out and run again, walk, go back in, run, and walk. I also do a cool down walk. I am trying to build myself back up to run for longer periods of time. I am feeling stronger everyday:)

WTG FHOOFY!! Keep up the good work.

I've done the C25K before but I've gotten lazy and I'm starting back tomorrow morning. I'm ready and excited. Along with my return to C25K I'm going to drink my water everyday. I want to run my first 10K this October. Of course I've waited to start in the dead heat of a Florida summer..oh well here goes.

Potridge,

Perhaps there is a food or food group that is causing the difficult breathing. For instance, if I don't eat sugar and gluten, my skin gets really soft, but if I do it cracks and gets red and splotchy and itches. So perhaps try going a month or so without any dairy, that tends to be what aggravates my sinus and breathing most.

On my own note. I didn't write earlier in the week but I'm on W4D1. It wasn't too difficult. I really feel like I could easily run a mile, not quite 3, yet. But, let me tell you, running for half a mile uphill is quite challenging. I'm sure all this hill running will pay off when I do the 5k on a flat surface. Now, I'm just trying to find the best surface to run on around me, I'm even thinking of taking the 20 minute muni ride to the beach ...

Potridge.....I wish I had some direction for you...I too have breathing problems...that the Cardiologist has not put their finger on it....I have had many tests. The last thing he came up with was for me to use an inhaler everyday for 2 months and then stop...then see how I feel....
What's that about? I hope your Doc does a better job figuring it out than mine did. Let me know what he comes up with. Good Luck and I hope you are able to bet your stamina back up.

I have a question. I was on W4D3 when my back went out. I took a week off and then started W4 again and found that I couldn't get through the first run. I couldn't catch my breath during the run or during the recovery walk. So I went back to W2 thinking I would breeze through that. No such luck. I finally ended up going to the Dr. thinking it had something to do with my heart. He had me blow into one of those breath measuring tubes while he listened to my lungs. He said he heard some wheezing in there. I have NEVER had a problem before but then again I never ran outside. He prescribed Proventil to be used 30 minutes before I run. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact that I run on a prairie path that is all trees, grass and standing water. Has anyone else had this happen or does anyone already use an inhaler for their running? I so want to get back on track but if I can't breathe, I can't breathe!!!!

Catstance, blue green algea just like a super multi-vitamin, but more natural. Gives lots of energy so needs to be taken in the morning. I just do it first thing otherwise I won't do it.

I finished W1D2. I hardly notice that I'm running 30 seconds longer, except when I'm going uphill.

I finished W1D3 today! Yippee!

Catstance, the first thing I do when I get up is drink a cup of water with blue/green algea. Maybe even just drinking a glass of plain water when you get up and waiting (before going out to jog) will help.

I think it has something to do with the exercise stimulating your metabolism. You may not have had to go before you started running, but now your body is awake, stimulated and it HAS TO GO!

Perhaps a little bit o ex-lax right when you get up will empty the issue before you start running?!

Turonut, it's good that you don't slow down after a minute....I'm looking forward to being able to run a bit comfortably too...for me with out panting.LOL
It will come!
Not peeing, I think it's by bowel that reacts to the pounding of the pavement...hope my body gets used to this....
funny, as much as I don't enjoy it yet...I really look forward to W2D3...
