The event is for supporting the teenagers of this area, offer them all kind of tools for a healthy life, since shoes to other running gear and gives them the opportunity to keep them far from drugs and obesity. You can visit www.modestomarathon.com and get more and better information and clear all your questions. Let us know if you will run this day! =)

How many people are joining in the marathon? Are there any walkers? My most important question(for me) is, where does the cost to join (the money) go?

Ladies, I enjoyed reading your conversation. emoticon I was trying to decide if I should run my first half here in Modesto or wait until S.F. in June. I train using the Galloway Method and I have already run 14 miles in training, so I am ready to go for March,,,Still, I would love to run S.F. for my first.... Decisions...decisions...

22 miles! Wow, that's great. If you ever want a really fun training run, go to San Francisco and run through the Marina over the golden gate bridge to Sausalito. If you haven't done it, you definitely should. It is beautiful. Good luck on your marathon. Janice

4 h 30 m is my goal, it is a really big deal for me so just crossing the Finish Line will be great.

My longest run was the last suterday, 22 miles for the first time in my life. I ran the first 13 with my friend and then by myself. I walked for a while, I felt really tired at the end but not pain, wich one makes me happy! I'll try with glu and gatorade, next long will be 22 miles again.

Good for you running CIM this year! I can see your training is serious! I finished my last half in 2:05, let's see what happend in my 1st Full...

My first marathon, I finished in 4 hrs. 30 mins. which was my goal. I was tired of course, but didn't feel like I hit "the wall". I trained on my long runs with Gu gel and gatorade and used them minimally during the last half of the race. You definitely deplete your carb stores, so it helps. How many miles have you run so far? A friend and I are planning to run to Sacramento International Marathon in December. It is my dream to qualify for the Boston Marathon, but I would have to do it in under 4 hrs., so we'll see. I've been doing the Insanity Program and that has definitely helped me with my speed. Do you have a personal goal time for finishing?

Yes, I'm Shadow Chase member for 4 years and like you I don't participate like I would like, but I had some days at the track in MJC and I learned a lot from them. I'm from Argentina, my English is not very well but they are very nice people, I feel like home =).
I use the Runners World plan too, but this time I decided to take a group training.

How was your 1st Marathon? How did you feel?

Did you eat something while the race? I don't take any in my long runs, but I'm hearing all the advices!

Nice to talk with you!

I use a running plan from Runners World Smart Coach. I like it because it is based on your previous race times, if you've raced before and it allows you to train anywhere from easy to hard. I work during the week, so I have to do my long runs on the weekend. I try to go early before my family is up. I can usually make it back in time to make breakfast. I usually do my weekday workouts on my treadmill and weekends outside. I prefer running outside, but it's usually dark both in the morning and at night when I can run, so I don't have a choice. Are you a member of Shadowchase? I joined last year, but didn't really participate in any of the group activities so I didn't sign up this year.

I'm running the 1/2 marathon this year. I ran the full marathon the last three years, but am limited in my training time this year, so I thought I would be better off doing the half. How exciting for you doing your first marathon! Are you doing a particular training program?
