Thanks Lynn! I kind of figured the leaders aren't perfect with their food either. Would you believe you have to go to school in NY for like 2 weeks to become a WW leader? I can just see me explaining that to my boss, plus telling him I need a couple days off a week so I can work for WW.
emoticon
I would think the leaders feel lots of pressure to not gain more than 1-2 lbs. How embarrassing would it be for the leader to fail the weigh-in?

I've been to meetings that have really great leaders & meetings that have leaders who are a total bore. Thanks for the vote of confidence. You have a terrific sense of humor too. You can come to my class if I can come to yours. Quite a commute both ways though.

Oh, Con... YOu are way too hard on yourself. I guarentee you that 99.9% of those leaders are every bit as human as you and me. They cheat, they go off plan and they will preach to their groups that this is......NORMAL! AND...to just jump on the bandwagaon again! Perfectionism is our downfall. And...there's nothing wrong with having a Little Debbie since nothing is off limits. It's all staying within range MORE often than NOT (because "NOT" is going to happen).

If you are a leader, maybe you'd be more inclined to control yourself. I've often wondered if that would be the case. Being forced to maintain your weight or lose your job. Maybe that's what it would take for me. LOL

Anyway, you'd make a SUPER, SUPER leader!!!! Everyoone loves a leader with a great sense of humor and you got it! Can I be in your class????

Thanks for the info. I forgot that they only give you 2 lbs of wiggle room, but free registration sure is nice.

Oh yes, WW definitely is a gazillion dollar industry because they bank on our "failures." Still, they do have a very practical food plan & the leaders seem very knowledgeable.

When I got to goal last time, the leader tried to recruit me to go to leader school so I could go on the payroll. Little did she know I had Little Debbie waiting for me in the car. I politely declined the invitation. I would feel like such a hypocrit giving diet advice when I knew I was sneaking snack cakes.

As a lifetiime member...you will never have to pay the registration fee or for missed meetings. But if you are more than 2 lbs over your goal weight, then, yes, you'd have to pay.

Do NOT be embarassed about having to go back and being more than when you started before!!!! You would be AMAZED at how many starts and restarts people have done ESPECIALLY me! Ha! I doubt they even have a record anymore! They wouldn't know and believe me...wouldn't care! As you say...fork over the loot honey! They bank on the majority still needing them. Pathetic...we give them what they want!

Wow, no weights for another month! Miss Ellie really did a number on her mom.

Hey, I'm a Lifetime member of WW too. Question...are the meetings only free if we stay within so many lbs of goal? I'm embarrassed to go back to my WW center after almost 3 years, weighing more than I did when I joined last time. But I suppose WW would be out of business if we all lost weight & kept it off.

How's your weather today? It's snowing here now but I don't think it's supposed to amount to much. I feel so bad for those poor folks (especially in KY) who are still w/o power, & may be for another 1-2 weeks. Horrible.

Boy, does that food look good! I'm getting hungry already!!!! Ha!

I've had no self control. And I still have to take it easy with the exercise, so I'm not full speed ahead yet. Just saw the doc this afternoon. No weights for another month. Running OK... Swimming...go slow and build slow... So... little by little...

Weight Watchers is a safe and very reasonable diet. Lots of people have had success. I'm a Lifetime Member...wish I could be a lifetime LOOSER!

You're back to working out now, so the weight will be falling off. Think I better head back to Weight Watchers as I always seem to do well there.

Well it's a good thing we have the extra week, cause I totally blew it over the weekend. Will spare you the gory details, but I weighed 165.5 this morning...up 3 lbs!

About being on or off the wagon...right now I believe I'm stuck under the wheel. Okay, tomorrow is another day.

May have stayed the same or gained! Weighing myself a night rather than AM, so hoping I didn't gain!

We really have one more week! Thought this WAS the week, but not so... So...enjoy one more week of trying to get on the wagon! Or is it off the wagon!

Well heck, I thought I was running late but you haven't been here either Lynn. Whew, I feel better now.

No loss or gain this week, so holding at 162.5. Gotta do better next week. Hope all is well on your end.

Thanks Lynn! I'm eating way too much (2000 cals Saturday) so I need to dial it back or I'll still be 162.5 next Sat.

No dog show for me anytime soon. I like to watch them but no dog of mine would have ever made it past the front gate. LOL

Okay, so you chowed down a little too much this week. Put another quarter in & try again Monday. I'm willing to bet you'll beat me next week. Ready, set.....GO!

Lynn, staying the same weight beats the heck out of gaining. I'm sure you're happy with that, given your candy encounters.

Yep, maybe you can come up with a new self-challenge. I work in a very small office (only 4 of us) so candy's not an issue. We just don't bring any food in to share, thank goodness! A new receptionist started 3 mos ago & she brought us brownies & gingerbread her first week. I told her we really appreciated it but to please not bring anything else. Of course she's thin!!! Figures.

I was still 162.5 this morning. Had hoped to be 161, but such is life. As long as I'm staying the same or losing I'm thrilled.

It's still crazy cold here today & I'm sure it's worse there. Stay warm!

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Connie! I know I must get back on track... I was thinking... Last time I got going on this, I had that candy free contest going, remember? I need to come up with the same or similar plan (although the office candy is not as bad as it was then).... I'll work on that.

P.S. Weighed myself earlier today and was at the same...exactly the same...whew!

BUT AS FOR YOU ....CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!! YOU ARE DOING GREAT!!! KEEP IT UP, SISTER!!!!

Yeah, the laptop is still hinky. DH is going to get the wrench & screwdriver out soon & check under the hood. LOL

I saw another post of yours that you were off again today. Hope the Valentine candy was all gone. Just face the music & weigh yourself tomorrow. Maybe it won't be as bad as you think. No matter what the scale says, you'll be just fine. You've had to alter your routine due to your fall & the weather so you're all out of whack. I have full confidence in you. Won't be long until I'll need to carb load for another race (yours of course). LOL

It's ridiculously cold here too, but nothing compared to what you've got. Like I posted someplace earlier, what happened to global warming?

I was 162.5 this morning & I think I was 164 last Sat. Not sure, need to look at my food journal. Will see if by some chance I weigh less than 162.5 tomorrow. Odds are I won't.

Okay, I keep telling myself I'm heading to the tub & now I really am. I mean it this time! Geeze, once a person starts Sparking it's hard to stop.

Okay chickie, print those island pics & play some Don Ho music (OMG, I am so old). That should put you in bathing suit mode.

CON.. Sorry to hear about your computer woes! Frustrating!!! One of my friends uses Firefox as well as IE for whatever reason. I don't even know how you get Firefox or what the benefits are. LOL I'm like you..."WHATEVER!" Just make it work!

I haven't stepped on the scale and am terrified to. Have not had my "three day dog" yet. Yesterday wasn't tooooo bad, but still could have been better. I didn't have school due to the cold and I have a feeling there's a good chance we wont' have it again today. Right now it's -20 degrees actual temperature with a matching wind chill. The wind is to pick up a bit later and the wind chill could go as high as -40! Insane! But it's supposed to climb to a high of 6 which will feel like a heat wave!

I bet those two pounds are water. Don't give it a second thought. When I was losing all that weight last fall, that happened to me several times and it would disappear in a day or two. For some odd reason, it seems we females like that water weight!

Glad you are doing well otherwise. I really, really need to get busy! I'm thinking I need to print off some pictures of Hawaii to remind myself how I want to look snazzy in a swimsuit for our vacation next summer! You'd think that would get me goin'....but who knows!

Hey Lynn! So have you had your 3-dog-days yet? Yes, getting started is always the hardest part. We'll get this all figured out before we die.

Don't know what's going on with my laptop. My DH is an IT mgr (AKA computer geek) & he's done 3 or 4 different scans on it but can't find anything suspicious. I can't use Internet Explorer on it at all now...it just freezes up. So now I'm logging on with a search engine called Mozilla Firefox (as if I ever heard of it...DH told me) & it's working fine. Guess the problem's with Internet Explorer. Whatever! All I know about computers is, if they work I can use them, if they don't, I can't. LOL

For some reason, my weight was up by 2 lbs this morning. I'm trying to stay calm as I cannot possibly have gained 2 lbs. All I know is it better come back off by Saturday. Hope your scale is starting to slide south again too.

Stay warm girlfriend. At least this is a good time to be banished from running...too darn cold out anyway.

Ha...Thanks Connie... I think I need a "Three Dog Day" challenge. Three days of rightful eating. If I can do three days in a row of eating right, I think I'd be fine. It's getting started that's the hard part. Well, hopefully, this will be the week. I'm glad to be seeing the doctor tomorrow and hoping he says, "it's not a big deal...do whatever..." :D One can hope!

So glad you are on the downswing. Keep it up! This is YOUR year!

Got on the scale today and was one pound less, so, I only went to 169 (only....LOL!).

Sorry to hear your computer has a virus! Don't catch it from it... emoticon

Dag nabbit! I spent 10 minutes replying to you a few hrs ago, then when I tried to post it my laptop crashed. DH had to do a virus scan & it seems I'm infected (ewwwwwweeewww). So, here I go again. BTW, thank goodness my dH is a computer geek.

Don't worry about the 170. It's only that high because you've been eating a lot lately, so it's not all true weight gain. As soon as you get back on track, you'll drop 5 lbs in a day or two. I was 171 on Jan 1st & this morning I was 162. There's no way I lost 8 lbs of fat in 11 days, so I'm sure the first few lbs were water weight, not that I'm complaining.

Sorry you're snowed in today, but it's probably for the best anyway since you need to recover from your tumble. We're ice covered here today ourselves. Hate ice!!

Beagle pups are cute for sure. Did you like the movie? We saw Gran Torino Friday night. It was very good,but....well, can't tell ya anything else. Clint Eastwood had a yellow lab & of course I was sure it would die (dogs seem to be put in movies just so they can die). I'm not spoiling anything by telling you, Daisy lived!! Yippee!

Have a good night. Working tomorrow? Be careful out there in the snow. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you get back on track. I know, give me your address. I'll call 911 & tell them to send someone to confiscate your junk food.

Look at you go and look at me stop! I MUST do better! I ate junk, discouraged with my rib situation, which by the way, is kind of feeling better! Hope this is a good sign! Anyway, it's no excuse! Stressful week and I caved in! I am now up to....heaven forbid...170!!!!! I hope this is mostly water again! I can pack on the water, let me tell you. Still....oink, oink, oink!

So...I'll be spurred on by your success and get moving!

Gotta do my video and 30 on the bike downstairs. Later... And thanks for joining the Uno Challenge!

Hopefully, some Uno Mucho pounds will fall off long before the dog show!

P.S. Saw, "Revolutionary Road" this afternoon and there was a cute beagle puppy at the end of the movie! :D Is there ANYTHING cuter????? Never! emoticon

LOL on the dust mop dogs! I call them "shee-shee, foo-foo." Several of my neighbors have such dogs & they're adorable, but they're just not "doggish" enough for me. The sporting/hound dogs are my favs. Speedy's my 4th beagle. Like you, I had one when I was a kid. His name was Sunny's Little Fella but we called him Fella. Oddly enough, I've never had a female dog. Hmmmmm....

Yep, we're doing it Lynn. Actually I need to go change my ticker now, as I've already lost some weight this week. Yippee! I could cheat & leave the ticker where it is now & report a HUGE loss after week one here, but I'll play on the up & up.

I don't see too many beagle owners who go for the "dust mop" dogs. My mom used to sat that about the "froo froo" dogs; "They look like something you place on your bed by the pillows for decorations!" "Those aren't DOGS....they are dust mops! Choose a REAL dog!" Ha! She was a beagle owner too. DH and I grew up with a beagle as kids and loved them to pieces so I guess that is why we still have them...

C'MON TEAM....SIGN UP FOR THIS CHALLENGE!

I'm WAAAAY in Lynn! My weight ticker is public, so I'll be happy to post my weight on Saturday. Do I just post it here? Gosh, hope it's not just you & me in the contest. If so, do we split the grand prize 50/50?

No, sadly I don't think a beagle will win 2 yrs in a row. Those judges seem to prefer the more "fussy" dogs. You know, the ones who need their hair brushed every 3 seconds, with bows & painted toe nails. No offense to anyone who has such a dog. I love all dogs, but my dogs of choice are just regular old D-O-G-S.

Bad News: Uno's reign is almost over! It sure was fun having a beagle as King Dog for a year. He was one nice looking dog! Miss Ellie still dreams of a date! ;)

Good News: We can turn a negative into a positive by making a negative in our weight by doing a challenge to lose weight.

The Westminster Dog Show is Feb. 9-10. So, let's commit to losing at least a pound (reasonable amount of weight) a week in counting down to the show.

Let Me know if you are in and make note of your weight next Friday/Sat (you can do the weight noting publicly or privately, whatever works for you). Each weekend after, we'll report back to one another how we did. You can also post ideas, frustrations, tips, etc., here along the way. Each week, I'll do a "Roll Call Reply" with congrats or encouragements for those involved on this thread.

Be sure to check off your goal at the bottom of the main page of this team (first you join the challenge at this area and then go back and check it off as it applies. You'll help our team in "Team that met the most goals" report!)

So...do you think we can lose 1.25 lbs a week and be that much slimmer by the next Westminster show? Do you think the beagle could win 2 years in a row (the poodle did-big surprise there!).

Sign up by responding, "I'm in!" to this thread. :D

Prize: Spark Goodies from those willing to honor the winner AND... bragging rights... AND... 5 lbs closer to your goal!
