I made 210 miles in Sept. Between weather and life, riding time has suffered. Weather's better, maybe life is smoothing out.

I dropped in for accountability - didnít even come close to achieving the 50-mile goal I had set for myself for September... ďToo many excuses!Ē
But last Thursday as I had just changed into cycling clothes & was almost stepping out the door to load up my trike, a friend called begging for us to attend a charity event - she had extra tickets which she didnít want to go to waste... I asked Hubby who was likewise changing clothes, and he dropped his bike shorts like they were hot!
I know Thursday was only one day, but the rest of my weekend filled up quickly.
I hope to get more mileage done in October.

Hi Kathy,

Yes, standing while pedaling takes a huge amount of effort. There is also a tendency for the bike to move from side-to-side that adds to the effort.

Sometimes standing and pedalling is fun, but very inefficient. Be careful standing while pedaling. If you lose your balance bad things happen!

You are doing well.

I have only been riding weekends so far this month, so I can ride in the mornings. I've managed to get in 81 miles, going 18 to 32 miles per ride. I have a goal of being able to pedal standing up. I haven't been able to do that since I was a kid. So I started working on that today at the gym on a stationary bike. It's a lot harder than I remember.

Congrats to you 3VEGGIES! It is one of my lifeís ambitions to do a bike trek - Iíve had my eye on one of the ďInn to InnĒ rides along the Katy Trail; while Iím down for all of the cycling, I prefer to sleep in a real bed each night - donít think I want to camp out...
It was like a slap in the face when I rode with my cycling buddies Sat morning & my Strava app displayed ďYou have done zero activities this monthĒ. But at least I got 10 miles in - starting off slow, bringing up the rear for most of the ride & questioning why I hadnít eaten any breakfast!
I left my trike on my truck Sat night, but was not energetic enough to go around the block Sun morning. Iím a little bit sore today.
So overall Iím aiming for 50 mi this month.

Just finished a 500 mile bike ride across England. I rode up to 60 miles a day (not even close to road cycling in the USA! Due to varying surfaces encountered, time spent being lost etc. Also...rental bike was heavy/slow and so was i. Great lessons learned and I want to do more.

Went to pick up road bike and found out I need a new shifter. So ...I need to get on a different bike for some miles until this is fixed.

My goal...150 more miles this month. After 9/7.

I have to take it easy because of my health, but I hope to ride 150 miles this month. I have a hybrid mountain bike so I am slower than you street bike users. I hope you all reach your goals!!

In many parts of the northern hemisphere, September brings cooler temperatures, Bike riding is more pleasant as milder temperatures prevail.

What is everybody's mileage goals for September? Please post your progress so we can cheer each other on!

Happy Riding!
