Great for you for taking up this challenge. I am not much of a drinker myself (like 3 or 4 drinks a YEAR maybe) as I just don't like how I feel when I'm drinker. But I do have friends that do and have drunk heavily so I understand the pressure the group can place on you. Keep it up and you'll get there!

You can make it a great day or not. The choice is yours.

Hey there KountyGirl --

I have the same problem!! I am not an alcoholic, but trying to stop drinking in New Orleans is like trying to get the Mississippi River to flow north!!

I have tried to make sure when I do drink its clear liquors only and not flavored and when I do drink I mix it with water and add a twist of lemon or lime. Not the best answer, but I have cut back tremendously and I play pool on Friday nights on a team that loves to drink and who always buy rounds!

So I wish you luck and hope you do well!!

Good for you! Hope you are still having success. I started drinking at age 12 and I didn't get smart till Sept 19th of 2009. Don't waste as much of your life as I did. It took me over 30yrs to get it.

I am a much happier person today.

God Bless emoticon

We CAN Do It Together !!

God Bless
Susie

Hey Ya'll!!! I'm back! Hello KountryGal, I am 21yrs. alcohol free. You can do it to. I was drinking since the age of 14yrs. and was a heavy drinker by the age of 16yrs. Alcoholic by the time I got out of highschool. I drank because of a guy. Won't go into details, but I finally quit when my last daughter was born. Haven't started again. You definitely have my prayers and support.

that is awesome! I haven't had a drink since New Years Eve 2001. You can do it and you will love how you feel and eventually when you are around others who drink you will realize you are having more fun watching them be ridiculous you won't miss drinking but I remember how hard it was at first. Now I can't believe I was ever a part of a drinking culture.

I have surprised myself and done GREAT for two weeks now with NOT drinking!! Instead I've replaced booze with water and prayer. A little to much reachen and not enough time kneeling. Is no wonder my life spirled out of control and shape. Have been at the gym daily doing great. I start my days out with prayer before I even leave the house or get anything started.

Thank you for your inspirtation
I love you all

Am I alone in this challenge not to drink esp. on the weekends?
I always told myself the weekends was OK because I deserve to 'let my hair down' that letting my hair down has caused me ALOT of problems let alone set my path to becoming an Alcoholic. I would be the 1'st in my family that is not an alcoholic if I choose this route. My divorce is what started my drinking 4yrs ago. Pain it should be called. Drinking pain. There's nothing I can't overcome! Am starting my day with prayer. Will accept it and believe it and go forward with my day. Am headed to the gym now to relieve stress. One day at a time. Bebe steps.

WE CAN DO THIS MAAAAAN!
I need a bunch of support from you all....
I also have alot to give back.
Anyone that would like to add me to there Yahoo msg PLLLLLLEASE DO!! My Yahoo ID is kountrygal1965
I've recently dropped all my drinking buddies and those that have nothing to offer me in the way of support.

Thank you all so much for being there.
Connie
