A Prayer When in Crisis

The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble.
He cares for those who trust in him.—Nahum 1:7

God, I feel lost and overwhelmed.
The world seems out of control.
Life has become a nightmare.
Please help me remember that
You made this world and declared it good.
Give me the comfort of Your presence
and the confidence to trust You
even when nothing seems to change.
Calm my mind, bring peace to my heart and
strengthen my spirit to carry on in the midst of loss.
Lay a path for me, and help me follow
Your way as I move
forward. Amen.

Hey.

Okay, so this is sort of an ongoing thing for me.

Ten months ago, my sister died at the age of 25. It's been really hard for me to deal with this, especially since I can't really turn to my parents for help. My hubby's been great, but I think I may be coming into the really tough time.

Christmas was always her favourite time of year. Then, a month later, I have to deal with the wedding anniversary (She got married at the end of January last year) and then two weeks later the anniversary of her death.

I think I'm gonna need any help I can get. I've already found my emotions starting onto the roller coaster. And I'm not even done with the whole grieving thing, either!

But yeah. Prayers, well wishes, positive energy, anything at all is very welcomed, I really hope it could help.

I got down on my knees today,

I'm feeling happy because of the goals I'm meeting and I have to thank you all for your support!!!
But I can't help thinking of friends I've lost maybe because of my faults.
Maybe I acted foolish towards them and I've lost their friendship.
I'm asking God to forgive me if I did something wrong, and to restore our friendship, if it's possible.
And for Him nothing is impossible.
And I'm praying also for all the intentions in this Team.

A Prayer for Self-Control
God, I don't always live the way I should.
I tell the world about being honest and true and pure.
Then sometimes they look at me and run.
When I said I'd be your servant, I thought it would be easier.
I thought you’d take away all my problems and temptations.
I thought I could be the kind of person I tell others they should be.
It doesn't always work that way, God.
I see others having a wonderful time, and I miss being part of that.
I see something shiny off to the side of the path
and I go wandering after it without a thought.

Employment prayer for those who have lost their jobs

Lord, I am coming to you today with a heavy heart
Filled with regret over the past, and anxiety for the future.
I am out of work, and my finances are in deep trouble.
I have made many mistakes. Help me to forgive myself, and
others, so that I may make amends with all concerned.
Grant me peace of mind, so I can fill my life with your
goodness and grace.
Guide me toward a good job where I may fulfill my needs
as a better and wiser person.
Thank you Lord, for listening to me and helping me today.
Life is not always easy, but I will strive to remember that You
are always there to help me
As you are right in this moment. Thank you!

I'm amazed to see so many people looking for jobs lately, esp here on this board. It makes me feel less alone since I am without a job at the moment too. I'll keep you all in my prayers-- God shows us where we need to be when we can be still enough to listen, and I'll pray for that voice to come to all of us.

There are certain areas in my life right now that need your blessings, and if I tried to fix them myself, I would fall short every time. You are everything to me, and I trust your knowledge and timing. Right now I find myself in a financial struggle, and you are the only one that can help me triumph over this. I understand that you made a promise to me that you would provide, and I need your blessings now more than ever. I will seek your kingdom first before my own needs, and trust you that you will pull me out of this financial struggle. In Jesus' name, amen.

I know that I keep asking for prayer about this, but we need lots of prayer for our finances. We're having trouble just paying for things like rent and electricity.

I am asking for prayers for my husband and my dad. On Veteran's day I called my parents to find out my dad had been rushed to the hospial as they suspecte swine flu. As he has been ill and they report that swine flu effects those with underlying conditions the most, I was scared. I asked my husband to drive me the 3 hours as I was nervous and wanted to get there quickly. Luckily he did not have swine flu however he does have a blocked artery that will be operated on Tuesday.

That night my husband, now back at home with my daughter, had a TIA and needed to be rushed to the emergency room. He too was found to have a clot. He goes today to find out if it should be operated on.

Please keep them both in your prayers! I very much appreciate it.

Heavenly Father, you know how deep my grief
is. I long for the touch of a hand, the sound of
a voice that is stilled. You are merciful and kind.
You will comfort my wounded heart. Wipe the tears
from my eyes. Thank You for understanding so well
our poor human hearts and for letting us lean on

Gee I forgot to ask for prayer for my brother... He is in a nursing home and is only 62 years old. He was shot in the head three times in April 2009. It was a hate crime and they are still searching for the shooters. He has a trach, a feeding tube, a catheter. He cannot swallow or talk or walk. We are praying for a miracle. He does know us and respond to us and even smiles. He has long term memory but not short term. He does not remember what happens daily or sometimes hourly. It is so pitiful to see him like this. He was always a kind generous loving man and father to his children. There is not a mean bone in his body. He is also a born again Christian. Hi Victoria, I came on here to request a prayer for my brother but before I did that I read your request and was so touched by it. I will keep you in my heart and prayers honey. The loss and pain you are having must be horrible. The only one that can really console you inside and out is Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit. I know you Mom would not like to see you this unhappy or so numb feeling. She would comfort you and tell you it is all right and that she is in Heaven with Jesus. You must go through a grieving period but remember that it is only a short period and then you will still miss your Mother but you will be able to function again. It may make you a stronger person now too because when we lose a loved one we realize how short life really is and it makes us more aware of our own daily actions and what we say and what we do. Try to use this sad experience to the good by making yourself a better person to live with and work with. Remember God loves you. God bless you and you are in my prayers. Dotty

Prayer Request for comfort, faith and healing of the heart.

I lost my mom about 6 weeks ago, very suddenly, she passed a blood clot that ruptured her aorta, and she died instantly.

She was my mom, my best friend, my support and my confidant. I miss her so very terribly and am having a very rough time lately. I struggle daily to motivate myself to get out of bed, take a shower and go to work.

I know every one grieves in their own way and in their own time, and I will always miss her, I just want the heaviness of my heart to ease and to feel the small joys in life.

Praise the Lord, I was so blessed this week not to eat from emotion more than just a couple of times and then very little compared to normal. I had a good week and plan to do the same no matter how hellish it can sometimes get. I feel His Holy Spirit has given me this strength. -- Proverbs 3:5-6

In case you didn't see my blog a few days ago, I need to tell you all that I got a job. It's temporary, it's part time, but it's money.

A former employer called me and said that the lady who took my place when I got the house manager position at the group home was going on maternity leave. She asked me if I could take her place for 8 to 10 weeks.

I usually don't kneel when I pray because I have arthritis in my knees. After getting this call, I fell to my knees by my bed and just started saying, "thank You, G-d!"

This will take me through the rest of the year. Please join me in rejoicing!

I want to again thank everyone who prayed for my son,
Bill. He has gotten his clearance to fly helicopters
again. His arm is healed from the injury he sustained
while in Iraq this past January.
