Yes, I read this book and I felt exactly the same way you did. Up until that point, I had read all her books. I was sooo mad about the ending that I vowed to never read another book of hers again - and I haven't!

I knew there must be some reason why I had not read any of Steele's books. Now I know why I will not read any in the future either. Thanks to all of you.

I liked Message from Nam and Malice. Malice started out with a bad scene of rape but it set the stage for the rest of the book. Most of her others, I did not like.

I used to read her books many years ago and this is one of the reasons I stopped. They also get way too predictable after you read so many of them.

I haven't read her since I was in my early 20's. I got mad at a book (can't remember which one) where one chapter ends with a scorned wife in dire straits and the next chapter begins with her strapping her twins in the backseat of a Mercedes. Sorry, but I require a detailed explanation of how she got there in just a year's time.

I used to read a lot of Danielle Steele when I was in high school but it got to where I couldn't tell the books apart, I'd be half way through and realize I'd already read it, so I gave her up. I used to love them though so I had thought about picking one up for a light beach read. Guess it won't be this one.

Finish what you've started!

I have read a few of D. Steele's books. They don't much appeal to me. Like one post observed- the old ones became too predictable. The one that made me mad was the one about the abused child. Like the woman with breast cancer, a social issue I guess, but Steele only upset me against her writing, not the issue. Abused children and shuned cancer patients are real enough. I don't need her overdone fiction to enlighten me or to make me care. Perhaps her treatment of the subjects brought compassion to some.

I have only read one of her books that I liked, The Promise. The few others I tried, I didn't like the characters. I can't enjoy a book that I don't relate to or feel sympathy for the characters.

Just my 2 cents.

the Danielle Steel book Lightning? This book made me so mad!! A woman Alex gets breast cancer, has her breast removed and needs chemo. Her Husband Sam becomes such a jerk, (His mom died of cancer, so he couldn't go through it again). He yells at her quit thowing up, your not really sick, doesn't not support her at all when she needs him. He doesn't even take her to chemo. And he has an affair with a woman he works with. And they separate.
Then he gets in trouble with his job. He gets arrested for fraud and other stuff. And who does he turn to? Yes, his wife (she is a lawyer). She helps him and stands by his side. If it was me, I would be as far away from him as I could get.
I know this is just a book, but it made me so angry!

Thanks for letting me vent!!!!!!
