I have started taking this guy for 45 to 50 minute walks - done so over the past two days and yes it is tiring him out -- thanks for the thought

Can you walk him in the middle of the day? A tired dog is a good thing!

If you have the $$ - this would be the way to go www.coyoteroller.com/home - which I don't but wish I did. Or if you have someone that is handy (I do, but getting them here to do it is hard! LOL) maybe they can figure out something like it. I have a fence jumper too. At least he's stopped when I'm home, so he just gets locked in the house when I'm out.

my cousin had a jumper and just kept adding to the height of the fence until the dog didn't like the way it looked and didn't jump anymore.

I know someone that has a chain link fence then he put a strand of electric wire on the inside. The dogs know the wire is there and stay away from the fence. Also alot of exercise helps - pits and border collies are both active dogs, so yours need lots of exercise and interaction with you. Good luck ; they are smart dogs. emoticon

Hello -- can anyone give me some advice on training for a fence jumping Pit Bull/Boarder Collie mix. Though a sweet dog temperament wise our efforts to contain him in the yard so far have been worthless. We have now gone to having him on a run --which he has already pulled loose from the house once-- the dog belongs to our son who is in the Marines and we have had him since about the middle of August. He did not start jumping the fence until he had been with us a couple of weeks. We have raised the height of the fence by about 1 1/2 ft but he just climbs up and over. We have never had any other dog be this persistent about wanting to get up and over to chase cats and squirrels
Any suggestions on best training tactics or best resources for training would be appreciated

Thanks in advance emoticon emoticon
