Congratulations on the new granddaughter!!

We're still waiting for my first grandchild (a boy) to make his appearance. Due date is today, but so far no signs that my daughter is going into labor yet. Her doctor said she isn't going to let her go more than 3 days past the due date, so if there's no change, my daughter is going to the hospital Tuesday night to get the first meds for being induced, then she'll get the 2nd meds on Wed morning.

I've been steady at 141 but enjoyed all the comfort food sof the holiday in moderation. Got plenty of movement into those days, too. Today I had to catch up on my sleep and now I need to get ready for the work week. Hope you all had wonderful thanksgivings, although a new member of the family is going to be hard to top!

Busy busy busy couple of weeks. Held the wt to 162 as of last Tuesday but made the best TG dinner ever! We were blessed with our second granddaughter in the wee hours of that morning. It was two nights on edge and caring for my granddaughter. All are healthy and happy but I suspect the older child is feeling a bit replaced. Had a bit much to eat but kept the portions down over the weekend. Workout time was limited.

Today is renewal day after a good sized breakfast with my departing daughter. Green smoothie for lunch followed by a lean dinner.

Holly how was your weekend?

I hope your cold is getting better 1234MOM.

I didn't weigh in today, but I will tomorrow. I haven't kept very good track of my calories for the last couple of days. I haven't really eaten anything unhealthy, but in terms of amount of food I may have eaten too much. I walked 6.5 miles yesterday and came home ravenous. Kind of defeats the purpose to walk that much and eat a salad big enough for two people.

I have more salad for lunch today and soup for dinner. I've already walked 1.25 miles and if the rain holds off until this evening I will do a few more miles when I get home.

Yay for chicken enchiladas and boo to miserable colds. Hope you're feeling better soon and your pregnant daughter-in-law doesn't catch it, 1234MOM.

It's going to be a sleep-deprived day today which makes me crave carbs (starch keeps me awake better than caffeine). Gonna try to keep them complex and fiber rich (molasses raisin cookies and apple pie instead of rice krispy treats) but if I don't indulge, I won't finish everything today. Grades due 8 am tomorrow morning...

Cathy, that sounds a lot like how I work the meals.

Okay, I'm having a crappy day. The worst cold I've had in years settled in last night and I barely slept. Rotten sore throat dogged me all day. I'm drinking lots of liquids and have probably got a mile walking to the Loo. Eating is well within boudaries!!! That's something to cheer for and I did get a half hour walk to the grocery in for herbal tea. I probably exposed my DIL and granddaughter last night and she is in her last month of pregnancy....that makes me feel terrible. Haven't watched this much football all season but my Spartans are not on any of my local channels. I can only hope this isnthe worst day of it (I have no idea where I picked this up!) This is going to be one of those throaty colds that stays around for a week.

Stay healthy out there!

Weigh in today 180.5
Haven't been eating too good lately either. Trying to clean out the refrigerator and freezer so not always the best choices. No excuses though.
On the plus side, I went shopping and stocked up on lots of fresh meats, so I've got the ingredients for lots of healthy dishes instead of just looking in the freezer to see what I have and trying to figure out what to make that way. I baked 2 chickens the other day and the leftovers are going to be made into chicken soup and chicken pot pie, plus I'm using up some chicken breasts and making chicken enchiladas. Doing some big batch cooking so I'll have lots of meals ready made in the freezer to grab when time is short.

No formal exercise, just lots of cleaning and yard work (never seems to end).

Just didn't want to weigh in this week. How bad am I? Ate way too much at a Mexican chain and really feel I need a few days to recover from that. Now I'm coming down with a nasty Cold. sin probably going to try and have lots of liquid foods to soothe my throat. This may keep my intake down as longasmanyoftthe liquids are tea .

Will still try and get a half hour of walking in.

Eating today:
smoothie and protein bar (100 cal.)
veggie smoothie
Whatever DH makes .... chicken breast and sweet potatoes + salad.

I too have gotten out of the habit. I weighed in at 141 today.
Breakfast as yogurt and cherries and granola.
Just some muenster cheese for tizorai.
A stir fry with tofu and veggies and soba noodles with an orange for lunch.
Greek yogurt and curried lentils for dinner.
Didn't get in cardio today - the ice rink and the swimming pool and my local hiking spot are all closed, so I guess it's just weight training today.

I haven't checked in for a few days, my bad.

Weighed in yesterday at 166.6. I only walked 1.5 miles yesterday, but I will pick back up on the distance today.

Breakfast: a nut bar and coffee. Lunch: chopped salad with cranberry beans. Dinnner: autumn minestrone soup.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Holly that storm has been really bad all the way across the country. We aremhaving delightful weather here and we've been getting out on the bikes. It is mostly the eating that is the issue here though.

Not sure I want to weigh in after the weekend. Had a hilarious Halloween watching my granddaughter and a couple other 2 somethings go out Trick-or-Treating. She was so enthusiastic and really got into it. She was Elmo, momwas a pregnant Big bird and dad was Cookie monster. She must have walked a mile+ carrying her pumpkin all the way.

My daughter is here and loves to cook up a storm. I trying to tracknfood is almosr impossible. I may just have to do what is most reasonable and just keep exercising.

The rain did finally stop and I got back to walking yesterday. I fully admit the rain stopped Wednesday and I did very little the rest of the week.....and it shows as I weighed in at 167.8 today. Totally going in the wrong direction. I didn't plan meals over the weekend either. I'm stopping this little backwards slide NOW!

Hope your rain stops or you will just have to get a real good rain jacket and some kind of dry shoes to walk in. You are not going to get any sympathy from me when winter arrives here and I have to do that minimum 30 of mine in the cold. That seems to happen when I just didn't fit in the usual run to the gym or bike ride. I'll miss the bike rides in winter. It is getting harder already to talk my DH out into the cooler weather for a ride.

Another good day for me and I did peek at the scale today and it was 162.5 so the 163 may not be too hard a number yet.

I'm still holding strong on the Halloween candy!

I didn't weigh in today but I don't think my weight has changed significantly since my last weigh in.

Breakfast: steamed broccoli and coffee
Lunch: homemade lentil and vegetable soup.
Dinner: rajma and a little basmati rice.
Snack: carrots and hummus.

Exercise: I started out with a mile and a quarter and intend to do more later.

One year I bought all sorts of Halloween candy. Counted how many I had of each one. Let the kids choose what they wanted. Then after Halloween I counted them all again to find out which ones were the most popular, so I wouldn't buy so many. Fortunately for me, the favorite candies for the trick-or-treaters are ones I don't really care for. Less temptation for me.
I've already bought most of my candy and have it on a shelf downstairs. Still have a couple other kinds to buy. Some is for the treat bags for the kids at my Halloween party this Saturday. The rest is for Halloween.
And I already have a plan in place for getting rid of the leftovers. Hubby will take some (his favorites are Reese's and Snickers - ones I don't care for so no temptation to dig into his stash) and the rest goes to a friend at church who gives out candy to the kids there.

Holly any loss is a good loss. I'm still in a holding pattern since I've been visiting family in MI. That paneer did not get eaten but it freezes well so there it is and I may make a sag paneer if I have the ingredients.

I'm going to have to do some catching up and will have to get back to eating only while seated, slowly tasting every bite and planning those meals ahead.

I recignize that Halloween candy behavior....I haven't purchased candy yet.

Eggplant lasagna souds great, what cheese goes into that?

I ended up doing 3 more miles when I got home yesterday, but I also drank a sizable glass of unplanned grapefruit juice after. I wish juice didn't chalk up calories and carbs so fast.

139 today, so I'm down another couple pounds from just a few days ago, but that wasn't healthy weight loss - it was a stomach bug. I guess these are the times I should be grateful I have fat stores for when my body won't let me eat.

Oh yum, 1234MOM. Paneer is one of my favorite things to eat. My daughter was just talking about making some Paneer Shahi, but I asked her to put it off until the weekend since I already have my plan set for the week and it really doesn't include a cream-based cheese dish over rice. I should try to talk her into making Paneer Tikka instead, avoid all the creamy fat and extra calories.

I weighed in at 166.2 this morning. Not much downward progress, but I'll take it.

As for food today, breakfast will be coffee, carrots and hummus. Lunch: green salad with a bit of crumbled feta and chickpeas. Dinner: southwestern tofu wrap with black beans, Daiya, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and salsa verde.

Exercise: walking this morning and perhaps more when I get home.

(1) weighed 140.5 this morning - my lowest for quite a while - and I ate badly last night. ???
(2) food today
egg sandwich for breakfast
tofu stir fry, cauliflower salad, and apple for lunch
kalamatas and sprout salad for a snack when I got home
tofu quiche and apple pie for dinner
(3) exercise
I've been alternative between getting home really late (as in early the next morning) one night and crashing into bed the next night since the Shenandoah trip, so tonight will be my first workout in a while. I want to swim, but I have a raging cold sore and I'm not sure the chlorine renders it uncontagious, so I guess it'll just be weight training at home this evening. tomorrow will see some hiking in Rhinebeck, NY.

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday....the weekend approacheth!

I realized yesterday that I bought Halloween candy a week ago and still haven't opened a single bag. That has never happened before....I always sneak into the candy early.

I didn't weigh in today, but I'm reasonably sure I haven't gone up.

Breakfast today is coffee and lots of it. I've been trying to ween myself off the OTC sleep aid that I combine with my Ambien in order to get 5 hours of sleep a night. I think I may have slept 5 hours all week without it.
Lunch: carrots, cucumbers, pita chips, and hummus.
Dinner: falafel wrap and tabouli.

Exercise: I'm heading out the office door to walk some now.

Scale is down a pound to 178.5 Not sure I believe it though. I didn't stick to the elimination diet like I had planned, and my face is puffy again this morning. Could be too much sodium from the homemade beef stew (I didn't make homemade stock, and the soup base I used definitely has too much salt).
I can still start fresh today.
Breakfast is V8 juice and a banana, then maybe a fried egg
Not sure about the rest of the day. Usually have fish for dinner, and we've got lots of fresh veggies from the garden - broccoli, cauliflower, beans, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, celery. Will be having some of those today, but I'm lousy at pre-planning, especially lunch.
Exercise - no specific exercise planned. Getting ready for my annual Halloween party in less than 2 weeks, so will be doing lots of stairs as I get everything down from the attic to decorate and work on getting the house cleaning done.

We had perfect clear (chilly) weather and glorious hiking. First time I've seen black bears in the wild. They're surprisingly graceful for such round, heavy creatures. My body is that good kind of sore from an unfamiliar workout and I feel totally refreshed from the time off. We even ate pretty well! Will be back to planned food and exercise tomorrow. Today I got home after 1 am and it was all I could do to get to work on time.

Hugs to you Sandicane.

So, 166.6 this morning. Feels good to tip back below 167, now I just need to keep tipping down.

I confess, I made no plan for today. I have conference calls and then I have to bail quickly out of the office to take my daughter to the orthopedist and then class so there is no time for lunch anyway. Time to practice hunger.

I walked 1.25 miles around the office complex today, but am unlikely to add any additional mileage this afternoon. Exhaustion is really taking a toll on me, but I will hammer through.

I just admit that I have not been so unsuccessful in years! And, last night I had an emotional "remember when" that came right out of the blue and I lost control...totally lost control.

But today is a new day...so...onward I go.

Oh GREBJACK, I'm so jealous of your backpacking in the Blue Ridge. I do hope it is wonderful.

I seem to be stuck around 167. I admit that my focus has been elsewhere over the weekend and I have not planned properly nor have I exercised. I haven't slept more than a few hours on any given night and it's really starting to wear me down.

Breakfast: coffee and a pear
Lunch: a green salad with veggies only (no cheese, no croutons, no meat analogues).
Dinner: Asian tofu noodle soup (rice noodles).
Snack: carrots and hummus

Exercise: I've walked 1.5 miles around the office complex so far. I'm planning to walk more when I get home, if exhaustion doesn't take me down.

I hope everyone has a fabulous Monday and a successful week.

(add another 2.25 miles to that)

Pain is necessary for survival I guess, but it really sucks!

I'm 142 again today. I'd say I seem stuck in the low 140s but really I haven't been disciplined about my diet lately, so it's not so much that I'm stuck as that I'm just lazily hanging around here.

Food plan:
I had oatmeal with craisins for breakfast (sounds tiresome but I love it)
An egg and bacon sandwich for tizorai with a huge glass of orange juice
Egg salad sandwich, bell pepper strips and a chocolate chip cookie for lunch
Bought a cupcake from a student fundraiser after school
Dinner will be a roast corn and black bean salad, roast pumpkin strips and maybe a cucumber salad. I'm just trying to clean the house out of things that can spoil before I skip town for four days.

Exercise:
I'll strength train this evening, but no cardio except my jumprope warm-up. But Friday through Monday I'll be backpacking in the Blue Ridge Mountains, so I'm not too worried about being lethargic today. Can't wait to get into the woods!

Oh Cathy, do hope that you won't have to suffer long.

Holly, gosh darn those temptations anyway! And thanks so much for the get well wishes! I'm back in bed now....ouch.

I'm 140 again today...that cinnemon bun that was my temptation yesterday did not show up on the scales this morning.

No plans for food nor exercise today...I will be happy to survive.

I do hope you are able to figure that out quickly Cathy.

I'm so sorry you're hurting Sandi and I will light a candle for your speedy recovery tonight.

I'm at 167+ still. I drank a soda yesterday and bloated up like a toad fish. I rarely drink soda and I shouldn't have had that one, but there is was, cold and inviting in my refrigerator and I did it against my better judgement.
emoticon

Breakfast today: a hard boiled egg and coffee.
Lunch: homemade vegetable soup.
Dinner: a nice green salad with baked falafel.

Exercise: I've done 1.25 miles already and I hope to do more this afternoon.

Cathy B you can do that. I suspected something in my breakfast regimen was giving me loose bowel and I eliminated until I found it was oatmeal! My sister says she had a problem with it so I don't eat it in the breakfast bowl anymore. I do cook with it though without a problem. I passed this on to my old dad and he has eliminated it also and is now off the pepto bismal and other stuff everytime he had a bm. We must have a family thing.

Goodmrestart today.

180.5 this morning. Woke up with my face feeling puffy, so something I ate yesterday doesn't agree with me any more. The problem of course is figuring out what it IS. I keep saying I'm going on an elimination diet to try and figure out what other foods I no longer tolerate (besides chocolate, which now gives me migraines so I have to do my best to give it up, even though I LOVE chocolate). I think I've found some information on elimination diets, so hopefully now I can actually implement it. I may be eating pretty weird for awhile as you have to cut out so many things initially, then work them back in slowly one at a time to identify any that cause issues. I hope it doesn't mess up my metabolism too badly, but if it does, hopefully it's only short term.

My ankle is nearly healed (I think). It feels okay, not perfect but no pain or swelling so I'm going to start upping my mileage again.

Breakfast this morning is coffee, a tangelo, and tomato and cucumber salad. Lunch will be carrot sticks and hummus again, what can I say, I love hummus. Dinner will be a tofu and noodle soup (light on the noodles) and a small dinner salad.

Exercise: walking.

Everyone have a great Wednesday!

Dance poles, huh? Sounds like fun - not my idea of fun, but I'm sure SOMEONE out there would like it!!!

I use adblock plus, which works if you use Firefox for your web browser. Blocks all the ads, so I don't get to see those lovely interesting ads like you do. Just think about what I'm missing! Not that anyone would suggest that I might be interested in getting a dance pole.

Great job on the fitness.

3 hours of pickleball! That sounds so fun.

Okay 141.5 today

Breakfast = oatmeal and craisins
Tizorai = apples and peanut butter
Lunch = pumpkin bisque, buttermilk biscuits and black bean/ wheat berry/roast corn salad
Dinner = I was thinking I'd probably eat the leftovers from lunch, but I'm looking at this thinking I'm eating ZERO calcium, so maybe I'll make salmon cakes and some sauteed greens.

Exercise will just be my morning run.

And can someone tell me WHY the recurring advertisement on the side of my SparkPage is for professional dance poles I can install in my own home?

You are doing well Holly considering you can barely get a mile in.

Rough weekend here with company. What happened to my plan to control it? I've been getting plenty of exercise. Nice 26 mile on the bike today and 3 hours of pickleball yesterday...wow the legs were talking to me!

162 this morning

Tomorrow I'll be back with it keeping the calories under 1400.

Food
Poached egg on chard and kiwi
Tortilla soup...sans tortillas, tomato
Salmon, kale salad, brothy soup

Let's allmhave a great turn around!

161.5 for me after heading out for dinner at thenlast minute last night. Had a beautiful salad but my husband coach did not do me a favor by ordering a banana bread pudding.

This week is also going to be a tough one with multi activities going on that will require making good food. It's a test.

Awesome 1234MOM. (I still need to get you that recipe.)

I haven't weighed in for a few days. My weekend kind of tanked when my daughter tore a ligament in her ankle which necessitated a trip to the emergency room. I have not planned meals nor exercised for the past two days. Today I will get back in the saddle.

The scale was kinder this morning and showed me 160.5. So its two steps forward and one back and I'll not get on the scale again until Tuesday.

Beautiful day, I hope to bike some and get some strength training in.

Pancake breakfast
Asian chicken salad lunch
Salmon dinner

I'm still following SP menus with tweeks and its working as long as I keep the carbs to twice a day and only two fruits a day with lots of veggies.

Well I got that pound back this week. Am now 162 and doing the two step forward one back but sticking with it. The average caalorie count last week was a tad higher than the week before so I'll have to drop that down to all days under 1400 this week.

Holly woohoo on the continued loss but the ankle can sure be a recurring problem once they are hurt. Ice, ice, ice! I would love to try that recipe!

I'm still doing well with the ear only when sitting, eat slow and enjoy every bite. Need to tweek

WooHoo Sandi and Holly! Congrats on the new lower numbers on the scale. Wish when my scale said "Lo" it meant MY weight was low, instead of referring to the battery power. Didn't get a chance to go out yesterday to get a new battery - was babysitting a 2 year old which keeps me hopping. But today I will be running errands and getting caught up on laundry and hopefully some housework too.
And then I've got some tomatoes and zucchini to process. Reminder to self - buy more freezer containers for the zucchini. No idea where they have been disappearing to, but I suspect they are at my kids' homes - when I make some of their favorite dishes, I give them some. Maybe I should start sending food home with them in throwaway containers instead.
