Pick 3 Challenge

I didn't do any of my 3 things but I did so much more...

1. write cards and get them ready to mail
2. do some laundry
3. finish cleaning my son's room

Ok, back on track here. I like this board!!

1. fold laundry
2. mulch
3. write and mail out cards for quilt guild and church

Phone a church friend
Harvest rhubarb
cook beans

I just read on SP that I should do the worst job first....hmmm, sounds like it will work to get done those jobs I've been putting off!

So:
1. plant squash
2. vacuum door jamb
3. primer door jamb

Ok, I managed to do 2 of the three. I finished prepping my applique and I learned a new crochet pattern, 3 days later and I still haven't folded the clothes. If I don't do it next day off I'll be ironing for a week!

So today's pick three are:

1. Read for at least 30 minutes.
2. Go out to the barn and pick up my mulch garbage can, (fell over in a storm, and has grape tomatoes growing out of it) and empty my mulch bucket by the door.
3. clean out my car

My short term pick three are:

1. Finish prepping my applique quilt
2. learn a new crochet pattern
3. Fold up clothes

Didn't notice that you reactivated this thread until just now. Depending on whether the weather will cooperate or not, my challenges at the moment are:
Get the circular flower bed at the church building weeded, plant the remaining perennials, and then mulch it.
Get the rented garden plots weeded
Finish reshaping the front flower bed and then get the bushes and plants in and then mulch it.

Who knows when I'll actually be able to get this done. Hopefully will get the circular bed done in the next couple of days, but the garden plots have standing water between the hilled rows in places so it's going to need to dry out more (supposed to rain again tonight, already rained last night)
And the front bed is going to have to dry out more before I can do any digging, so again, hopefully by the end of the week I will be able to get to that as well.

My goodness...I didn't get a single job done from my wanna do list of 3. However I did scrub life jackets, straighten the fence posts, and weed all around the pool.

So today I will:
find seed potatoes
vacuum the basement and
tidy the garage....along with scrubbing 2 more life jackets.

All jobs from yesterday were accomplished along with harvesting my garlic scapes and turning them into garlic scape butter! YUM

Today:
vacuum basement
plant more squash
try to find seed potatoes (again...still....)

fluff dirt
fertilize
tie up tomato plants

all 3 activities are complete from yesterday. Today's wanna do's are:
dig edging into my back garden
fertilize
trim virginia creeper

Make sandwiches for the Salvation Army.
Install our dock ladder.
2nd coat of paint on garden "hardware"

I have a daily "wanna do" list. I just found this thread, so each day I'll post 3 things from my "wanna do" list. Just to be clear...it's "wanna do" not "must do"...b/c I just love to wanna do!

Today I will:
pick my newly ripened strawberries
cultivate my front garden
organically fertilize my veggies

My 3 challenges for January
1. exercise more
2. write more
3. work with the kids more on their schooling

My 3 challenges for January are:
1) plan what veggies I want to plant in the spring and order seeds
2) Change my exercise program so I can continue to workout even when the weather doesn't allow for walking
3) reevaluate my food plan to see what changes I need to make to get the right amount of nutrients.

Update:

I managed to get four 4 X 4 boxes set up and planted. I was able to increase salad plants by starting mixed lettuces when I was in North Carolina in October. The weather was cool. I set the seed starter flat outdoors. Brought it inside when frost was predicted and put it back out once the sun was hitting my yard. I also started some lettuce seeds in a $1.00 plastic containers from the dollar tree. I put rocks in the bottom, then organic planting mix. I did the same procedure with this container. I took them all home to Florida. They were ready to transplant into my square foot garden beds. I had extra transplants and put them in other $1 containers. I have been harvesting 4 cups of salad greens every day for the last 2 weeks.

So I'm leaving for NC Tuesday for the holidays. I'm taking the $1 containers with me.

My fiber intake is running 30 - 50 g daily. It's always less on a day I go out to eat with the family.

I've only had to winterize 2 nights so far and I draped plastic sheeting over all the first night. The second night was expected to be below 32 all night, so I covered 2 boxes with tender plants with canvas drop clots over the plastic.

The only plant that wasn't happy was the cucumber, but it produced 4 nice cucumbers and is still alive, putting out blossoms. 2 tomato plants were on the outside where the cucumbers were and they are still going strong.

Not sure what to expect while I'm gone since Mom will be coming to NC, too.
My "helper" neighbor across the street will be going away, too. We'll see.

My favorite plants in my garden: 6 foot tall sugar snap peas that keep producing, and red salad bowl. Absolutely beautiful plant and leaves. And both are delicious in a raw salad.

My current personal challenges:
1. Get the fall garden boxes ready to winterize if frost comes
2. Keep fiber intake for the day up over 40
3. Increase fall boxes for more salad, peas, and carrots.

Adaptable Ellen, have you ever tried warming your drinking water? Microwave or tea kettle if you use bottled water. Or just turn on the hot water tap if you drink your tap water.

I don't drink soda anymore, but after surgery, I used to get cold and heat my soda as if it were hot tea, instead of adding ice.

I'd think warmed water with a twist of lime.

I'm getting a late start on this, but...

1) use my resistance bands or stability ball daily for strength training
2) Follow my meal plan faithfully
3) Use my Thanksgiving Planner to get my house (and head) ready for guests next month.

1. stick to my food plan i.e. just vegetables, grass fed meat, organic free range chicken, eggs, some fruit, homemade yogurt - 6 days out of the week and one splurge day.
2. clean up the garden - raised beds and perennials garden
3. prepare the coldframe. I'm want to attempt to grow some vegetables like onions, carrots beets, turnips and greens (?) for "over wintering" to pick in spring or dead of winter. I'll have to look at my 4 Seasons Gardening book for ideas.

My challenges for October are:

1) Clean out garden beds
2) Weight train twice a week
3) Drink 8 glasses of water each day - something I struggle with when the weather gets colder

1) Gardening - plant my garlic, plant my gooseberry bushes, weed & prune, take care of my herbs, fall vegetables, & strawberry plants. I put so much into my garden in the spring and I don't do enough in the fall!

2) Exercising - at least 5 times a week.

3) Eating - make soup from scratch 1-2 times a week. I have so many great barley and vegetable receipes. The prefect food for cool weather and it always tastes better/is healthier when I make it myself!

My challenges for the month of October
1) Food - No Halloween Candy (eaten. I'll still be giving it out to the kids that come by)
2) Fitness - Exercise at least 5 times a week
3) Gardening - Finish fall planting and cleanup (plant garlic, perennials, and bulbs. Finish preparing new flower bed so it is ready to plant in the spring)
