Went to the park around the corner and played chuck-it ball fetch with my dog after 9 pm.

Having a few minutes in the garden this evening as the sun was going down was delightful. The garden really is my therapy.

This morning, I went for my walk/jog (I'm working my way to being a runner). It was nice to smell all the blooming flowers!

Tonight I had a fantastic ride. After I got home, I took William for a walk....it was eerily beautiful. This heavy fog rolled in and it was like a blanket was placed over the town. All the sounds were muffled....it was so peaceful and quiet.

Logging for yesterday, I made it a point to get up early and get my walk in. 5:30 am is a great time to walk along the river, with the sun starting to come up, and best of all - no bugs yet! It truly puts me in such a better mindset for tackling my day! emoticon

I got to enjoy a beautiful evening playing with my horse in the outdoor arena. The rain had stopped, there was a nice cool breeze and best of all, all the bugs were gone for the night. Neptune learned a new trick and he just loves to perform it repeatedly....he is too funny. emoticon

The rain finally stopped so I hit the road for my walk getting home a little after 6 o'clock. (If this was a couple of months ago, I'd be walking in the dark at 5 o'clock and the rain would have turned into ice.) The air was fresh and smelled like lilacs. Pink flowers covered the trees lining the streets. Some of the flowers washed off the trees but covered the ground with pale pink petals. Beautiful!!! And I get to log "one smile" to my tracker for this goal because I was outside after 6 and enjoying myself.

The challenge is for tracking "smiles". When creating the revised challenges, it seemed important to keep a focus on exercise, nutrition, AND community. We do not want to lose a focus on those lazy, hazy, fun days of summer!

Get outside in the hours that are a little cooler. Take advantage of the opportunity to stay active outside. Enjoy those hours that would be dark if it wasn't summer!

Go on the deck or patio or city porch first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee or tea. And in the evening if you've already had plenty of active fitness for one day, take the time to relax in the shade or under the summer stars.

This is not a challenge for keeping an eye on the clock or monitoring your pedometer! Celebrate the event. One smile per "you did it" --- and you can get credit more than once a day if you have more than one event. Playing frisbee will earn you credit to log one smile. Go out again later that same day for an evening walk after dinner to earn another credit to log one smile.

How do we post this? Is it marked by how long, how many times, how many different activities, or do we just post 1 for doing anything?

Get Outside Before 8AM or After 6PM: Enjoy the extra long days!

The early morning and late evening hours offer daylight, lower humidity and less risk of sunburn. Log any outdoor summer activity, if done during those times of day more-or-less dark during the rest of the year. Go for a walk. Play frisbee. Read in a hammock. Eat a picnic under a tree.
