Needing to review my strategy, I am doing something wrong because gaining a few ounces and I am taking in less calories and burning more, but I don't think I am burning enough (at least the way the trend report shows), So will need to turn up the burn.

I am losing weight slowly, but I am also losing inches. I am doing Nutri systems now a la carte, and using other diets, 21 fast loss and food 4 lovers( all regular food). Basically I must say it is my own meal plan. When I started I was 210 now 199. Can't complain. It has taken about 5 months but I am hoping that means it will stay off and I learning to live a healthier life style.

I will have to say since I started Nutrisystem (my unique plan) and I use lots of the flex meals I have started to lose weight. I didn't do the shakes for a week, I only use that for a snack in afternoon once in a while. I go out to lunch with friends once a week. The first month I did lose 5 pounds about a pound a week, which I am happy about. My weight still fluxes lb here and lb there but at least I am heading down. I think it wasn't so much what I was eating as how much, when you really take a look at portion sizes it makes a bit difference and I think I got careless there. I still have my wine, that is my one indulgence and I have no intentions of giving it up. What I started to do is track it first thing in the am (even though I do not drink it until evening) then it is already part of my calorie count and I then work to keep within calories 1200-1500 and eat properly. So right now I am happy where I am at.

walked STRAIGHT thru the opening on the baby gate on the front porch!!! Ever since we installed, I had to turn slightly to the side to fit through the gate. Today, I cruised through without turning. When I got off the porch, I paused & thought, "I didn't have to turn!" yeeeee haaaaaaw!

I had my 6 week fitness assessment a couple of weeks ago and not only had I lost lbs and inches but was able to increase my cardio endurance from below average to Good (skipped right over the average). Also increased strength in number of pushups I did. I attribute this all to dropping the pounds but felt good to improve in other ways.

Congrats, iamradiogeek! I had the same happen last week. Bought a size L skirt, really good sale price, planning to stash it away. Couldn't believe it fit! What a great feeling. Here's another NSV the men will have to imagine: I can reach behind me to unhook my bra. I have a "maze" racer back jog bra, and I can even reach behind me to hook it!

Tried on a super cute size L skirt...and it fit! I can't tell you the last time I fit into that size...I'm not sure it ever happened, really.

Even better was me rifling through my closet, trying to find a shirt to wear with it. (Hubby and I are going out for dinner tomorrow night and I'd like to dress up for once!) I grabbed my cute purple sleeveless shirt, only to find that I could be SWIMMING in it. I couldn't believe it!

I did find a shirt to wear with my skirt, by the way. :p

Walked on the treadmill for the first time in weeks since I have been walking and walk/running out doors with the nice weather. I had to increase the slope on the treadmill to get my heart rate up. I have been walking and running in a neighborhood with hills and my stamina has really improved.

I've been doing a lot of travelling this summer (mostly day trips), but I've been getting out seeing people and the surrounding area. I have also been learning a lot about myself. I don't stress eat like I used to, overall my relationship with food has been changing and evolving. I feel like I've really been growing as a person.

Well, I've met a few new people as a result of this team, so that's great. I don't remember what I weighed when I started this challenge, but I have 3 pounds to my goal (I don't need to lose 20 pounds anymore). When I get there, I'm going to set another 5-pound goal and see how I feel when I get there (do you see all of these "whens"??). Then I'll reevaluate. I think that this is, for me, a successful strategy.

When I started this, 40 pounds was overwhelming. Breaking it down to 3 or 5-pound goals has been good for me.

I am a member of a organization in the mountains of PA where I go camping. It is about 200 acres and definitely NOT flat terrain. To the main parking area where cars wait for your return, it is a 1/2 mile one way. I did a lot of walking .... up and down.....up and down ..... hills this passed weekend.

The CSA has me cooking lots of veggies and eating local.

I look in the mirror and my face looks a little thinner and the double chin seems to have found a new home but ......

That damn scale still insists that I am 235!!!! **sigh** emoticon emoticon

My new shorts are getting looser. I got all new ones for the summer since last years were falling off. 54 pounds will do that emoticon . So I bought 16W because of my hips but the waist is too big. I will have to take tucks in the waist bands.

Finding that last years short are to big and look sloppy on me i did keep one pair to use in the yard. Some were good enough for Good Well others went in the trash can.

I can walk longer and become short of breath and enjoy walking and working out at home and in the gym.
I have lost 1/2 inch all over this month emoticon

It's all good. My last-year shorts are all too big (but I'll wear them anyway). My current clothes are still "transitional" in my mind -- I have a downward mindset. I'm not feeling discouraged by my plateau, as I know that it's all my "fault," and I can get myself kick-started. I have 6 weeks until our vacation!!! And, in my mind, I'm 30 (chronologically, I am no where near 30!).

I still find a great deal of pleasure in discovering clothes from last summer that fit better now than when I bought them. And the dress I bought to wear to my son's upcoming graduation doesn't feel like it came from Omar the tent maker!! I have more endurance during my workouts and have increased the intensity in my zumba classes, or at least I think I have, based upon how sweaty I am when it's over.

Day 4
My goals each day are:
1. to enjoy four meals.
2. eat with awareness so I stop eating when I am satisfied.
3. when emotional hunger strikes, do an activity instead of eating.

sun - I notice when I eat slowly I do not eat much
mon - went for a walk instead of feeding emotional hunger
tues - for dinner couldn't tell when satisfied because I wasn't paying attention
wed - payed attention and noticed when I was satisfied at dinner time

Happiness is remembering what I really want.
Laughter is the best medicine. The best things in life are free.

Learn to say 'no' to the good so you can say 'yes' to the best.

Dream with no action = wishful thinking
Action with no plan = chaos
Dream + action + persistence = success

The ego tells me you can't do it. The spirit tells me I can.

Each time I say "no" to impulse eating, I will visualize fat melting off my body.

My endurance on the treadmill at the gym is increased....I am doing intervals of both
incline (5-6) and speed (3.5-3.8) for up to 3 minutes with one minute recovery. I am not a runner (yet!) as I had rather a nasty break in my lower leg and ankle a few years ago. But from where I started on the treadmill, this is huge for me. I am now working on doing full pushups...I can do 2 half ones and 5 partial (from the knees) ones!
Can't wait for the swimming weather!

No "net" weight loss this week, as I am still a pound over my lowest-yet weight -- but I didn't gain any weight over the weekend (actually got a half-pound closer to that lowest weight). Got 2 walks in over the weekend.

I LOVE this thread. It is truly inspirational to read about the good and healthy aspects of people's lives off the scale.

I can relate to the clothes thing. I wore a pair of shorts the other day that were like sausage casings last summer, but really too baggy this year. I am proud of myself for donating all my too big clothes instead of stashing them until I might need them again. (faith) Now, if I would just stop buying 2XL shirts....

I also actually came out of my seat on the downhill parts of the coasters. My personal favorite none scale victory.

Celebrating just a little about the fact that the shirts that I bought LAST summer and were really snug (I'm being generous with the term snug), fit me like they should as of yesterday!! yay!

First, WOW, congrats to all of you for all your successes! You are all doing so great emoticon

I just received my shipment of new clothes today and I am excited that I have gone from a 16W to a regular 18 in jeans. They actually fit just perfect....not even tight! Also, I bought a top which I took out of the package and just thought..No way is this going to fit me...it looked tiny compared to my regular clothes..but I put the blouse on and IT FIT! My tops have officially gone from an XL to just an "L"! (I thought the rolls were getting smaller...LOL!)

Just got back from getting my teeth cleaned at the dentist. Coolest hygienist ever - she actually took my blood pressure and heart rate before choosing and administering the Novocaine. Unexpected progress is that my blood pressure has dropped! Already! It was 135 over 66! Also, my heart rate was 68! After she took the readings she said "wow - that is really great, especially the bottom number....and your heart rate.....for being in here even! We have patients half your age that have readings twice that." Then the dentist walked in who is probably in his late 30's exclaimed "wow - I wish I had readings like that!" Needless to say all that good news put the spring back into my step! BIG FAT GRIN! I've had a rough month, so this was just what I needed to get me powered up again!

Today, thanks to Mark's challenge to walk before 6:00 a.m., I got up and walked at 5:30 a.m. Huge progress for me, as I am not a morning person. Ever. I'm usually in a fog until about 9:00 a.m., and only get up because I must get the kids out the door for school.

I just tried on 5 pairs of old pants and jeans and each pair fit! A couple of those pairs of jeans were from my early college years...and I graduated 6 years ago!

I just ran my first ever 5K (ran most of it with a few very short walking breaks) and I hope to run at least 3 more this summer. I've got one lined up for June but still looking for a few more.

I am starting this summer fresh, I've been holding onto a bad friendship out of guilt and I started this summer by freeing myself from that. I may not have lost weight, but I feel lighter and brighter than I have in months. I never realized what a drain this person was on so many aspects of my daily life.

Also this summer, each month I want to A) go somewhere I've never gone. B) Do something I've never done and in July C) Have the best 30th birthday Ever in History! I will report back on my progress. This girl needs to get to living versus just existing!!

Non-weight loss progress?
I finally found a job, I start tomorrow.
I believe this will help with my emotional eating, especially at night.
For me, that is progress!

Tell us about other progress you have made this summer Spark-wise, not directly correlative to or reflective on the scale. Fitting into a smaller bathing suit? More stamina for laps in the pool? A big hike was easier? This is the place!
