Went to my semi-annual doctor's appointment this morning. all measures except weight were great! I really need to get myself in gear with the exercise and staying on track with my food. I am going to spend time this vacation getting it back together.

Hi Andromeda! I have that same problem since my mom lives about 3 hours from me. I drive down to see her at least 2x/mth. Generally, I eat out when going down and coming back and eat whatever she cooks when I'm there. UNTIL I started using SP! Well, now I just make better eating decisions. Even though I don't want to, I pack a sandwich or bring my own turkey or something to eat over the weekend. I'll eat only eggs and no bacon or something like that to help me improvise. My mother is a southern cooker and TRUST ME it's hard, but I know that I have to lose weight and I'm working hard to do that. Good luck and stay motivated emoticon

Mustang, sorry to hear that it's been a rough for months. I jus emailed a friend and told her the same thing I am going to tell you--life has been hectic all around. You've gotta make some time for exercise once work starts up again. it may help you to deal with the stressors. Do you have any 10 minute dvd workouts? Those are always great in a time crunch. And it may help you from straying and overindulging. I try to do anything, walk while i read, squats in the bathroom, wall pushups at work, anything to sneak in some kind of exercise. maybe that might help you too.

I don't remember what my starting weight was at the beginning of this challenge. i know that i at least lost 2 lbs total. My downfall is always the weekends when i go home to see family., I am not in control of the cooking or we eat out and I end up eating more than I ever would if I were alone.

I think that my success is that I only gained 7 pounds during the Spring Fling! What a diaster this 4 months was for me. I didn't help matters by relinguishing all control to instant gratification and the "easy" way. I let everything I learned in the Healthy Cooking Team go out the nearest window. I have not been able to get myself back to the gym or motivated to workout at home. There have been some major stressors in the last month and I did not stop long enough to think about how I could effectively handle things. So, 7 pounds up and I'm feeling the weight again. I am not comfortable in my clothes or with how I look to me. I am at that point where I can give in (already done that!), give up or give it my all. I finish work for a few weeks on Friday, I will have time to work on me, I'm going to give it my all.

I need to have someone drive me to the gym with a cattle prod! Still yo-yoing with the same 7-8 pounds--can't get it together. Did have a small loss this week and I am planning to get back to the gym. In fact I have my gym clothes with me and I am going after work this afternoon. I just couldn't face it this morning.

All is well, an ache here, and a pain there but still pushing through. My trainer banned me from the gym today...told me I need a day of rest....that would have been ok but all it's done is give me more time to consume MORE CALORIES :-) ....go figure.

Have a blessed day all.

This weekend took a toll on me. I thought that I conrolled my eating at the social events I attended but I gained just under two pounds (267.2). I feel like I have got to get strict with my program for June. I did a 1 mile walk with Leslie Sansone yesterday and will do some strength training today. I know that at least part of what's not working for me is the exercise. I was hurting during the walk but I was more mobile during the day (go figure, huh).

I am anxious to see where I net out at WW's weigh in tonight. Suffered a minor set back, think I pulled, bruised or damaged a muscle in my abdomen. Ignored it for 3 or 4 days and kept doing my crunches and aerobics.....whew and this morning could barely walk.......

well, i have ended the month of may with a net one pound weight gain. I have gained and lost the same 3 pounds all month. I know bread was my downfall this weekend--specifically fresh baked italian bread. i don't do it too ften, though.
Tomorrow starts a new month and I will set some new goals for myself and I hope to stick to them. I have found that I can keep the exercise goals, it is more of what I eat that usually leads to my downfalls, so i will be focusing on that mainly.

So, any new challenges for jume and the summer months?

You go Girl ! ! Wow, 1.5#s - that's wonderful. You're my motivation to act good tomorrow. I'm going to a parade and memorial dedication at the Village Park, so shouldn't get into too much trouble there...will let you know :-). It's gloomy here, need to build an ark pretty soon but think I'll grab 40 mins of walking before Church, if weather holds up.

Have a blessed day everyone!

I did 94 minutes of exercie today, not including a whole lot of housework. I did lose one and a half pounds by week's end. I think I will have a net loss by the end of the month. I have no major plans for this weekend, so no chance to sabotage myself.

Hey ladies, HAPPY HOLIDAY! I've been sick (virus) for about 3 weeks and it totally wrecked my schedule for nutrition & exercise. I was eating whatever would stay down (usually soup). The up side was that the week before I lost 5 lbs. This week only about 1/2 lb. But now I feel like exercising again so that should help.

Alright Cassie, I challenge you to get in 100 fitness minutes this week. That's only 20 minutes a day -- the bare minimum to get your heart rate kickin'! I'm shooting for 400!

Thanks for the words of encouragement ladies. Well, I did gain, as expected, but I start fresh today. Did a 2 mile walk and some strength training, too.

COOKI- you will be in my prayers. I know how mom's cooking can be--absolutely amazing. Why is it all the fun times in our lives are always associated with lots of food? We just need to try to make good choices, and if we don't make good choices, at least try to minmize how much of a bad choice you make (I.E. don't go back for seconds!)

Andromedea, Red Lobster is just one of many establishments that call to me daily. There is very little to do in the area where I live but you can go out to eat two times a day for over a week and not go to the same place twice.

Cookie enjoy being with your Mom and be happy for your graduate. Food has long been an expressionof love, solace and celebration. it is no wonder that we have trouble trying to keep it regulated as an energy source.

New week, new day, opportunity to exercise a new attitude and reach a new level of success.

ANDROMEDA1967 : That's right girlfriend. Tomorrow is the first day of your life :-)

Also, just draw on your positive there. The fact that (1) you only had 2 - that's a good thing..could have been 3 or 4? (2) You didn't force yourself to eat dinner, you acknowledged you were not hungry. If you gain, the main thing is "DON"T" stress over it. You have a great attitude so build on that.

P.S. - I'm giving you this boost because I'll probably be crying on your shoulders next week. I am in TN visiting my Mom and leaving for a graduation in Southern IL tomorrow, so say a prayer for me.

Take care of yourself.

ALL - make it a great week.

COOKI3123, the cheddar bay biscuits won me over, but I only had 2. I had a filling meal at red Lobster, so much so that I didn't even need dinner--I just wasn't hungry. I did not eat very healthy on the ride back from Long Island. in the end, i think i will still gain weight in tomorrow's weigh in because I just wasn't able to get the exercise in. I spent too much of this weekend in the car. 8 hours traveling back and forth to Long Island and then, all over Long Island (because nothing there is within walking distance). Oh well, tomorrow is brand new day!

MUSTANG0421--I think I'd have to move. I could not bear to live that close to Red Lobster!

Andromedea - I feel your pain. I love those cheddar bay biscuits and Red Lobster is just up the road--about 2 miles. When I am at my strongest, I tell my wait staff to not bring bread to the table. If I am not strong, I force myself to not eat the bread until the meal comes. That way I can usually have one and be satisfied. If I start eating them with the salad or soup I have too many. The calorie count is 150 for each biscuit.

ANDROMEA,
I recently went to Red Lobster while in Orlando and had a wonderful, healthy meal, I had the grilled salmon with vegetables, a salad, with dressing on the side & it was great, felt good, didn't have to deal with the guilties and when I returned to chicago, had actually lost weight. Played golf 3 days so that helped. Maybe you should tell yourself that the Cheddar bay biscuits do not define you and that you are in control & to heck with them :-)
good luck!

it's been a so-so week. i di gain a pound but that was from definite poor eating, especially after a party for a co-worker who recently got married. This weekend may not be any better. I will br attending a communion and the reception will be at RED LOBSTER! I love Red Lobster and those cheddar bay biscuits. I already know I will not be able to fight them. i will just have to continue exercising to minimize the damage.

A 2# wt. loss with a restaurant outing included is a remarkable testimony to your ability to plan and execute your plan...keep it up (you'll be my inspiration)!

I had a 1.6 wt. loss at WW last night and logged 885 exercise minutes on Biggest Loser today.

Good Luck to all W.O.C. team mates!

Make it a great day!

Yipee! A two pound lost this week. I ate out once this week, lunch on Saturday with former colleagues. We went to Crackerbarrel. I had a salad and a piece of fish. Definitely going to continue to cook and eat from home at least 80% of my meals.

Thanks Cassie. Just came from the gym (water aerobics, PT & 21 minutes on the eliptical).

Don't worry, the exercise will come. I think you're doing it the right way by tackling one area at a time. Once you have your cooking routine down, then very slowly work in exercise. One mistake I made was not laying out my goals very clearly from the beginning. I am still adjusting them, for example my walking goal is to go from 12 miles a week to 20 miles a week (currently at about 16ish); park as far away as possible in parking lots, etc., etc.
Keep up the good work!

Cook13123, awesome fitness minutes! It paid off at the scales too. Andromedea join me in getting back on track in the food department. I had a good week with just a few not great choices. I am hoping for a lost when I weigh in on Wednesday. I have been cooking to eat at home and also packing lunch for work. Now if I could just move my body.

I ended the week with a one and a half pound weight gain. I ate so much crap at work, it was insane. It was nurses" day the friday before yesterday and we got the nurses a big basket of mostly healthy goodies but it also had a big bag of my personal kryptonite--tortilla chips. Despite the fact that I didn't need it, I had a handful everyday until they were gone! I will have to have more control next week.

Weighed in this morning and I am at the same weight as last week. Of course I have mixed feelings about this. I could so easily have gained weight, outof town for a conference, at a district meeting, dinner out with my daughter and no exercise. I sometimes feel like all I have to do is look at food and I gain weight. But on the other hand, I know that if I would just take more control of the situations I find myself in I could have lost a pound or two. It became obvious that I could have more control when I started tracking food items that I avoided. I am very conscious of deciding whether or not I wanted to avoid a food. I was making a choice. For example, we ate out on Monday evening. I had a hamburger, I could have substituted the fries. I chose to eat the fries and have a martini. I am going to continue track what I avoid because it will force me to recognize when I am making a choice.
Sorry, I didn't mean to turn this post into a blog.

Donna, I purchase a raised garden bed and was going to put in a fall garden and a spring garden. Not being able to bend down put paid to all that. I might try a few containers but summer is not the best time in South Florida to grow things. Be careful in the garden shops, try to find an outdoor shop. I don't have asthma but if I am around too many pesticides (found in the graden shop) I have a reastion, headache, runny eyes, nose, etc.

Hey Cassie, don't beat yourself up. My tracking is really helping me to WATCH, WATCH, WATCH what I eat. I hadn't thought about the "tasting" but now that you've brought it up I'll have to watch myself and see if I do that!

My daughter and I trade off cooking too and on her "cooking" days I find myself in the kitchen making my own adjustments to the menu or I'd never loose. The funny thing is, if I'm making me a salad or some other veggies to go with what she's fixing it usually looks so good she adjusts her menu too! LOL

Since I have become so addicted to veggies, I decided to do container gardening this year. So I got large pots, my potting soil and tomato, bush cucumber, zuchinni, yellow squash and pepper plants to get started. I think I'm going back next week to add to my "garden spot".
I had a serious allergic reaction when I visited several garden shops, getting my plants. I had an asthma attack and I realized the next day my fingers were to swollen to put my rings on. When I weighed, I was UP a little over 5 lbs! Between benedryl and LOTS of water I had it back off and was able to post 1/2 lb loss by Wednesday. But geeesh

Had an eye opening moment yesterday. I am responsible for three dinners per week and my daughter handles three The seventh is either leftovers, take out or eat out. I was preparing last night's dinner and prepping Wednesday night's dinner. I caught myself tasting to adjust seasonings and add ingredients to the dishes I was preparing. I have no idea of how much these tastes were worth in calories. I do know that by dinner time I was very hungry.

Lost one pound and glad for the loss. I was wonderful with tracking my meals and snacks if I prepared them. I was on vacation in Orlando/Kissimimee and ate out on several ocassions. I had a lot more trouble accounting for what was going into my mouth. Tell me something I didn't alrady know, right. I can get pretty close to dead on accurate with the cup, oz and similar measures. What I have the greatest trouble with is trying to account for all the ingredients in various dishes. I spent Tuesday at the Holy Land Experience and walked for about two hours. Wednesday I was sore and stiff! Wondering what would be best for tomorrow: my chiropractor or a slow walkon the treadmill at the gym? I am going to continue to track my food because it keeps me aware of what I am actually doing.

Just wanted to stop in a say my tracking for last week AGAIN was eye-opening. Carrying my little book in my purse was better than just my daily tracking on the SP tracker. I didn't have a chance to "forget" anything! It helped me to be ready to JUST SAY NO to the Easter Bunny that sugar pusher!

Finally got a hot minute to post my measurements:

Upper Arm Otherwise known as bat wings: 17.5 emoticon MORE DUMBBELLS & stretch bands

Bust: 44 - slowly but surely going down!

Waist: 42 emoticon Getting closer to being out of the heart attack zone
I'll pull the stats but somewhere around 40" and bigger waistlines put more stress on your heart and makes you more prone to heart trouble

Hips: 49 Sigh . . . I never had a real butt until I was OVERWEIGHT! Now I'd be happy to go back to nearly no butt!

Thunder Thighs: 29 emoticon Oh well.

I understand about the pain and not exercising. It is a vicious cycle and I am also caught in its snare. I did take Ladilynne's challenge and tracked everything I ate yesterday. I decided I could do without a few items.

Missed Wednesday and weighed in this morning after eating a Red Lobster last night and a burger and wings restaurant on Wednesday eveing. The scale didn't show a loss or gain this morning. That usually means I'll get the results of my over-indulgence next week. Got to keep cooking at home--got to get that into my head.

I may have to post a note in my bathroom to weigh on Wednesday. I have been weighing in on Monday or Saturday for the longest time. Mentally Monday works best because I view it as the start of my week. Wednesday is really hard because it is in the middle of the week and I am usually thinking about anything but weight, LOL. I have been doing the weekend challenges to get ready for BLC16. Since I am having trouble oving, I've planned 20 minutes a day, 6 days a week. That will give me 120 minutes a week. This number did not include strength training.

By Wednesday of this week I'd lost 1-1/2 lbs. I've got to readjust to posting Weigh In WI on Mondays? Biggest Looser Round 16 starts in about 2 weeks and runs about the same as Spring Fling. On my good weeks I average 300 fitness minutes. Sometimes a straight 40-60 minutes - sometimes I break it up into two workouts a day. My best investment in me during this last few months was purchasing a recumbent stationary bike. Caught it on sale for $150 and so I'm more regular in my workout on it.

My first week of the Spring Fling was mixed. I lost .5 pound. I fell way short of my exercise goal. I only managed 28 miutes last week. I am striving to do better this week. I did track my food and water. When I couldn't get on the computer I kept my stats in a little notebook.
I was so busy that I lost track of the fact that I did not post 2 blogs. I will do better this week. Hope all of you have a great week.
Lynne, glad that you did so well with BLC15.

Sparkle,

Spring is over on June 21--then its summer, LOL. That is about 13 weeks. Even one pound a week is going to give a nice statistic and maybe firmer thighs for the park and beach.

Since I haven't reached my goal yet, I definitely plan to continue to work out at least 5 days a week and include 3 days of strength training. I will also continue to track my food and try NOT to overeat and "taste-test" as I'm cooking or putting my lunch together.

I am a Masterpiece in the making
