Week One Complete! I just finished the video for today, day seven. I completed each of the videos on the given days plus I did at least a half hour (some days were more, but never less) of cardio on Sunday-Thursday. I took yesterday off cardio because I had a busy schedule and knew I wouldn't have the time for it. The videos were still a little difficult for me, but I can't wait for them to get easier as I progress through this challenge! emoticon

had a little glitch in exercise this week - inflammed heel spurs?? oh joy ...:0).....but found SPARKS has chair cardio and other ex.... woo hoo.. so I am still in the game - no weight loss today , maybe monday.. I thought it might be medical - but A1c is 5.3..means I am not diabetic anymore - kinda- still hypoglycemic.
so I am eating right..... thyroid is low 0.22 so that should not be a problem.. upped meds.
on to week 2 tomorrow for me .. emoticon

My goal this week was to just fit in the workouts each day in addition to my 4 days of Crossfit classes. Fortunately I was able to meet that goal! Congratulations to everyone for all of your successes this week.

I have completed 6 of the workouts. I love Coach Nicole. She has a great way of explaining things. I have also been walking. My legs can feel it. I woke up and they felt very tight. But in a good way. I do believe I will get there to my weight loss goal!

My first week goals. Seeing that I started late this week I'm going to play catch-up! So on my first day I did Day1& 2 Videos. It feels good to get back to doing ST, and plan on picking up my cardio. I'm used to walking about a mile a day with the dogs or by myself. So I will be doing cardio with Leslie;s Interval Walking/Jog video. Starting out with the 30min/mile. Working myway up tot he 3mile video. I enjoy most of these videos, but really don't enjoy the pilate's work out, so I want to focus on doing more of these over the month ahead and maybe I will become better. Do enjoy my yogo work out here and there. So better pull that video out of storage. ! Wishing everyone Good Luck with your goals. Week 1 will end and begin tomorrow for me. Have a great adventure !

I'm not sure what day I'm supposed to be on. I guess I am trying to catch up today. Yesterday I didn't do any exercises and today I've done three of the videos so far. I have to say it's more difficult today and would have been yesterday too. Certain exercises, like push-ups(which I could barely do anyway) intensify my menstrual cramps, which started yesterday. I wouldn't normally discuss that subject but this is mostly women and I do find it difficult to do much that is physically straining some months. I start my workouts with at least the day 1 video because of how difficult it was to begin with. I think I should be on day 5 today but I'm going to double check that and do at least another video. I guess that's it for now. I'm finding it difficult to follow through with my plan to do an additional 30 minutes of exercise. I have faith that I will eventually triumph though.

My fitness goals are to do cardio workouts by walking outdoors during my lunch break for 6 miles weekdays. Also, do my strength workouts with Sparkpeople's " Fit, Firm, & Fired Up" DVD. For week 1, I have accomplished my cardio fitness goals only.

Week 1 complete. I officially started the Challenge on Tuesday but I walked 60 minutes with my husband on Monday so got my cardio in Monday through Friday plus step aerobics with my wii today so I got six days of cardio. I also played catch up with the videos today so I have completed all 7 videos and did 30++ minutes of cardio giving me over 400 minutes of exercise this week WOO HOO!!! What a way to start the new year.

What's even more awesome, is that a friend of mine ran across an ad for a Local Get Fit challenge. Free to participate and it will give us both an opportunity to meet other people that live around us who have similar goals. They will also be providing nutrition classes, exercise opportunities and information and much more. It will fall in great with what I am already doing plus add a personal level to it as well. The biggest loser will win a fitness package and a $100 gift card to AFFES (military stores). What an awesome incentive to get on track for the new year.

One day at a time! I can do this!

Feeling great!!

See you all on the week 2 discussion! Way to go everyone we made it through the first week in January! I was surprised that the gym wasn't as crowded as I expected but this week I went at unusual times. I'll see how it is next week.
Good luck on week two of the challenge everyone! emoticon

My goals are:
to increase the intensity of my spinning, swimming and power walking
to plan menus with organic foods (as far as my budget can stand)
to train for a mini triathlon

Today I completed shopping at a farmer's market. I stayed on budget.
I also swam 20 laps, did a spin class for 60 minutes, and power-walked for 20 minutes.

I am on my way to better health!

Yay!! I just finished week one. I completed all of the videos, logged my food each day and exceeded my cardio goals. I finally listened to my body and when I got really sore, I took a body flow (yoga) class instead of a body pump (weightlifting) class. Normally I go too hard in week one and hurt myself, so I'm glad I finally paid attention to myself and backed off, but still did something healthy!
The scale liked it too. 2 Lbs down! emoticon

Hopefully I can keep up this enthusiasm for the rest of the month and the rest of the year!!
Great job on all of the hard work everyone and good luck!

Yay! Week completed. I feel so happy that I did it. I ache everywhere. Last day abs was tough, makes me feel sick and my neck ache when doing crunches, especially the bicycle-uurrgghh. Looking forward to next week :)

I finished the videos for this week. Jeez. I haven't been keeping up with my abs workouts and boy I felt it today. Actually, to be honest, I've been feeling it in my back. I remember my solemn promised to the physical therapist that I'd stick with the workouts. Not so much. I do the stretches, but gotten away from the abs strengthening exercises I'm supposed to do. Today I had to work, but it felt good. Maybe I can talk myself back into doing what I know I should be doing anyway. Sound familiar?

End of week one! Yeah! 25% accomplished!

I made it, with modifications. Some of the videos were great, but today's abs workout was too hard for me. At 200+ pounds, my legs are quite a bit heavier than Coach Nicole's. As a beginner, my abs just aren't strong enough to hold up those legs. I liked the modifications for the planks; I wish she would have offered modifications for the leg lifting.

I am feeling the spark! I have lost 14 lbs (not since new year, but since starting this program in December). I have burned over 1200 calories since New Year's and walked 13 miles thus far. I have tried to eat within my calorie/fat/carb/protein levels and I AM FEELING AMAZING!

I still got a ways to go to my goal but I feel 2012 is going to be the year for me to do that! :)

Day 7 for me. I finished up my week well. I did some heavy cleaning and decluttering in my house. Its raining outside, so I ran on my treadmill. Next I am swimming for 35 minutes. I am doing 2 videos since I did not do one last night. I did the crunchless core workout. I could feel my abs burning.

Way too much traveling made it really hard for me to keep up on week 1. Home for a bit now, and moving forward.

So I joined this challenge a little late Jan 4, but I am caught up at least up to that point. Completed day 3 last night at 10:30 which was amazing because in the past I would have said " oh no, it's way too late and way too tired to exercise" BUT I made myself do it + all my strength training exercises. It felt great! Completed the cardio video again this morning and days 3 sand 4,along with all strength training that I had set up for myself. I feel GREAT and very proud at the moment:) Will be doing my 30 minute walk later today and and am very excited to see those calories burn away!!!! So thank you coach Nicole for these awesome videos and thank you to all you team members for the motivation:) It's a GOOD day!!!

Love seeing all the accomplishments of everybody!

I am on Day 6 and just got back from a walk/jog. Made it 5 minutes in a row several times this time! Been working on adding jogs to my walk since the fall. Woo!

Good morning! SO I think I have finished Week 1 ...YAY!!! Today's schedule is running a bit differently but I have completed Day 7 video workout and am doing my 30 minutes on the treadmill...speeding it up a bit today, trying to burn more calories than yesterday. Weight has stayed the same for three days but that is progress to me..not a gain..so that's good! Have meals pretty well planned although today is tricky as we have been invited to a friends house for lunch...the only thing I can control are some of the choices and all of my portions. Going to try to focus on the company and not the food...we will see how it goes. This is part of living a healthy lifestyle and not a DIET. In the real world we can't always control every food occasion totally...so that's where we have to learn to work with what we have learned and put it to practice the best we can. Life happens...On to my day with my checklist:

Water
Healthy food/proper portions
Exercise
Positive attitude

LET'S DO THIS!!!!!

I know we are a week in but I have finally finalized goals for myself. For once I took time to actually think about what I want to accomplish and what I actually can accomplish. So often in the past I have signed up for these challenges and created completely unattainable goals so I just quit because I had already failed.

I had a baby via c-section four months ago and I am still nursing so my goals are a little different than most I think.

Nutrition:
For once in my life I don't actually really need to count calories eaten or burned. Nursing is amazing in that regards. But I do need to pay better attention to what I am eating as I consume these calories. My goal is to 4-5 servings of fruits/veggies a day. This seems to be where I am falling short. Ialso need to focus on eating enough calories per day. I have been having trouble meeting the recommended number of calories for a breast feeding mom.

Fitness:
I am going to move for 30 straight minutes 5 days a week. For once I promise not to judge or critize myself for the movement not being good enough or hard enough. I just need to move. I am also going to focus on doing at least one really really good ab workout a week - like my abs hurt the next day workout. While the total body sculpt is important right now I really need to get my core healed from pregnancy and c-section.

Thus far I am doing ok with the fitness. With todays planned workout I will have met all of my fitness goals.Nutrition is still a little hit or miss. I am working on upping calories and fruit/veg. I went to the groccery this week and stocked up on food so hopefully I keep getting better.
