1.What is meant by a person's "BMI" or Body Mass Index?
A: It is a measure of how much weight you have per area of your body. It is calculated by dividing your weight per the square of your height (at least on the metric system, lol). There are some standard values that classify you as underweight, normal weight, overweight or obese.

2.What are 3 risks of Obesity?
A: High cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes

3.Why do we need Vitamin "D"?
A: If I remember correctly, vitamin D is created by exposure to sunlight... it is necessary to help you absorb calcium to keep your bones strong.

4.What is a desirable total cholesterol level?
A: Less than 200 mg/l (I think that is the unit).... from 200 to 220 is considerate borderline... and more than 220 is high cholesterol.

5.Up to how many teaspoons of sugar can be found in the average can of soda?
A: I've read this somewhere, but I only drink diet sodas since I can remember... so... I think it was like... 12?

6.Why is it important to incorporate weight training into your exercise routine?
A: It strengths and creates more muscles. More muscles burn more calories and also help prevent joint pains and that kind of stuff. Also creating more core muscles help you keep a good posture.

7.TRUE or FALSE: You should eat 5-6 small meals through out the day.
A: True... it keeps your metabolism going and prevents binge eating.

8.How Many Calories Make 1 Pound of Weight?
A: ... I think it is 3500

9. TRUE OR FALSE: ALL Carbohydrates whether simple or complex are bad for you.
A: False... carbohydrates are needed to give your energy. The complex are better because they take longer to be digested and gives less of a sugar rush on your blood stream.

10. Why are "Trans-Fats" bad for us?
A: I remember chemistry class about this... err... something about they are not able to be processed the same way as good fats and enter your blood stream, possibly cloging your arteries..

1.What is meant by a person's "BMI" or Body Mass Index?
A:every person is different. one person can be healthy at 150 but a smaller person wouldnt need to be 150 they would be healthier at a lower weight. the BMI is a table that helps people know what a good weight would be for their age/sex/ and i think mostly their height. you can find when you are under weight at a good healthy weight and when youare starting to befome over weight.

A:When you become obese you are at a higher risk for some health issuse. some of thoughs issues are: Heart attack, high blood pressure, and diabetes.

3.Why do we need Vitamin "D"?

A: false.. i hope...

10. Why are "Trans-Fats" bad for us?
A:they arent natural.. our was made to process natural foods. it has a very ahrd time processing atifial things. so it is harder on our body to process trans-fats.

emoticon teams to your mini challenge for week 5 of the BLC!!! You should be VERY proud of yourselves for making it this far and sticking with it. I think it's time we test our knowledge on what we know so far in the world of health.

Your mini challenge this week is to answer as many quiz questions correctly as possible. There are 10 questions in total. (I will not be participating in this challenge as I know the answers haha)

RULES:

*The use of google and other search engines is highly discouraged when answering these questions but obviously I have no way of tracking that.

*Each active player on the team must answer these questions in order for their weigh in to count at the end of the week.

*Answers must be submitted here on this thread by Monday, April.4

*All questions must be answered. If you don't know, guess!

You will find the questions below. Simply copy and paste them into a new post and answer. Good luck!
