I think SparkPeople's calorie range might be too low. Mine also says 1200-1500 and I stay around 1500. My BMR is more like 1450 though without any exercise. If you have a 500 calorie deficit each day you should lose 1 pound per week.

So I got a heart rate monitor to know how many calories I'm burning through exercise. My BMR is roughly 1700 calories. SP tells me I need to eat 1200-1500 calories each day... why?? Won't that put my body into starvation mode? I've been eating at least 1700 each day to keep my body running, but I want to know if I should be eating under my BMR or should I be eating at least what my BMR is?
