my sister got me one from linens n things, I like the ones with the flat surface (instead of the bowl) and both oz and g, it makes it wasier for me, also I had an analoge version, I much prefer the digital. Good luck

Made me really see just what a serving is!
At first I thought... that's not much, but now I am seeing that it is MORE than enough!

I don't even have one anymore~ I kept losing the bowl to the one I had and having to replace it, 'til it drove me nuts~ not a long drive, according to my friends and DH! LOL

I'm diabetic so portion control is essential since I have to track carbs to know how much insulin to take. I stick to the measuring cups and so on... as long as you are keeping track with reasonable accuracy, you can do it. I just wish I didn't lose things all the time...*sigh* LOL

"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!
P.S. I looked up enthusiasm, and it says the root words mean God within... interesting...!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But I don't think you have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too!

I had a tiny scale with a small bowl that only weighed up to 1 lb. I wanted to replace it with an electronic scale but decided they were too expensive. For Christmas my kids got me a nice size Salter scale (not digital). It has a big bowl and so far it has worked great for what I need.

I prefer the electronic ones but they are still more expensive than I want to pay. I use measuring spoons and cups and a mechanical one with a bowl like top. I used to use a postage scale that I used for my business but it was to large to use for the larger weights. e.g. I measure how many meatballs I make out of the huge amount of hamburger I bought. I usually break it up in half pound and pound plastic bags and some of it I make into little meatballs for soup and some of it the somewhat larger ones for meals. I usually add breadcrumbs, an egg, seasonings etc.
